We decided to fly the Grumman Tiger on a long VFR cross country flight from Danbury Connecticut (KDXR) to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (KCRE) for the fourth of July celebrations that week. We headed towards the Hudson river and flew VFR through the class Bravo via the Hudson river exclusion, over the Verrazzano bridge and then southbound along the Jersey shore line. The clouds were relatively low around five thousand so we continued south at about three thousand most of the flight until our first stop in Wakefield Virginia (KAKQ). We topped off the tanks with av gas and continued on to our final destination Grand Strand (KCRE). Thunder storms were predicted in N. Myrtle Beach that afternoon so we were in a hurry to get there before the weather moved in. Beach Aviation the FBO there was awesome and the staff is really great. Thunder storms arrived in the area about an hour after we did, and the Tiger got a shower out in the tie down area.
