This woman explains everything very clearly!!! she sticks to the meet and potatoes without telling stories or other bla, bla, bla that confuse you!!! She reminds me of military instructors...
I have been contemplating doing this very thing so I can switch up my power sources - yours is the first video I've come across that addresses the subject. Thank you!
We just got our van and as I have been studying electrical options I was really confused on how I could just get the Bluetti and run all my DC stuff off of it. A wealth of information on a short concise video. Thanks so much @Jonnie’s Journey. Your other videos about the wall plugs were just as helpful. Now let’s see if I can pull it off!!
Thanks Gary. Cargo trailers are really becoming popular. I toured one last year, the video is on the channel you should check it out. Very clean build.
Excellent video! I've converted my camper from the old house battery to LiFePO4. I also happen to have a battery generator, and I wondered if eventually I'd rather do something like this. If I was building from scratch, your design is exactly what I'd do. I think too many RVers and van lifers are focused on using devices that require an inverter. My plan is to stick to 12v exclusively. Laptops can even be powered by 12v with the right adapter.
Thanks, Jonnie. That was straight forward and well presented. I always use ring terminals too. I use the bare ones and always solder the connections then use heat-shrink tubing. I don't trust crimps especially when there's vibration involved. I'm trying to catch up on your older videos now. Just sane... :^) Saint
What an ANGEL! She helped me troubleshoot why my connection wasn’t working. Probably spent about an hour with me until all was well. I can’t say enough about this amazing person. Excellent explanation that ANYONE can do.
This is great thank you! Question? I see the Bluetti has 3 different 12v outputs. I"m not an electrician but do you have to run 3 different 12v systems if you have things that use different amps? Also, on your distribution panel is it possible to have to many things running on it at the same time and just not have enough power or could it burn out the panel? Thanks for your help!
using the fuse block allows you to run all your DC components to one spot (the fuse panel). Each component can have a different amp usage, this fuse block allows you to fuse them to their requirement. Because the Bluetti has a 12v/25amp DC output, you can run one wire from that port to the fuse panel. This allows you to power every component using this one DC port. You can also use the 12v/10 amp cig port for other portable items if not hardwired to fuse panel (ex. portable vacuum) . I have no items that require the 5521 port. I do have an updated video that I put out a week or so ago that may better explain the setup. thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions. also, I'm not an electrician either, we are all learning together. 👍
Thank you so much. I ordered the SA20 connector you linked, but it doesn't fit the 12v/25a output on my AC200P..... It's very very close, same kind of connector, but just barely a different diameter and I'm simply baffled and in a huge hurry to find the correct size. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks for all your wonderful work and safe travels 😊
I did notice the port covers on our two units (same model) were different. I ordered it yesterday. The production date on my unit is 2 years old. Maybe I have an older version connector. I found what I believe to be the correct one elsewhere on Amazon.
You have to get the xt90 connector, wire and cigarette adapter and make one. My Bluetti came with one. If you want to direct wire the 12v panel to the jackery with cig cord I can drop a link for a wire you can use.
@@JonniesJourney thank for all your vids. Very informative and thanks for your service!! I’m a retire RCMP 🇨🇦 soon hitting the road, winter in warm south USA! Hopefully borders open up. I’m stuck in winterland
Me again. Ha. Are you saying the maxxair fan can be plugged into the Bluetti 12V/10A cigarette lighter port and doesn't need to be plugged into the Bluetti 12V/25A outpost? Therefore the maxxair fan could be run with the Jackery 12V cigarette lighter port? Hoping this is my last question. You are so helpful. Have a great adventure.
This video is super helpful! Thanks for making it and so many of your others. You show the XT90 connector for a Jackery option. Do you have a link for that one or a name? I didn’t see a link down in your description. TIA
No mine came with the Bluetti. What you need to do is make one. Take the xt 90 or 60 which ever one you bought and use your 12awg wire and connect to a cig adapter. If you will not be using different devices you can just do direct wire from fuse panel to generator. please reach out if you have further questions.
What size is your inline fuse? This is a great explanation of how to use the Bluetti. I have one that I want to use in my trailer. You are the only one I have found, that has shown how to do it with the 25A connector. My trailer also has house batteries that I will continue to use so I will have to switch between the two. I don't full time so I will be taking the Bluetti in and out.
HI, great video, I was wonder why the XT 90 connector was used? I have an Inergy Kodiak and wondering if I could just wire from the fuse box (with a inline fuse) to a 12v male connector into the Kodiak. ...and did you make or purchase the XT90- 12v cord. thank you!!
You can absolutely do that. I use the xt90 connection because Bluetti comes with a cigarette cord with the xt90. I wanted to be able to use my fuse panel with a backup soarce if needed. The xt90 to cig an be made, I made the xt90 to aviator cord so I could use the 12v/25amp port. Not because I need the amps but because it clicks in making it much more secure.
This is exactly what I was looking for. ,,,, I want to do the same exact set up … my only issue is I’m connecting a 12 V AC unit 7000 BTU Dometic roof top Air conditioner …. I’ve seen videos where the bluetti 200max can run the unit ,,, but not for extended periods of time. should I run the AC unit to the fuse panel. ..? or should I connect the AC unit to a separate breaker bar … ? The power cord from the AC unit is a really thick gauge of wire .
i am not an electrician so please check with your installer too. i would use a bus bar to get power to your 12v fuse box and the AC unit. This will allow you to fuse your AC unit correctly.
Mine came with the Bluetti. Save yourself the money and make one. The xt90 and cig plug a very inexpensive on Amazon. Bluetti is always out. If you will not be interchanging sustems you can use cig plug to 12v fuse panel and skip xt90. Don't forget inline fuse. Thanks for watching, hope this helps.
Hi Jonnie,I bought all those items with the link you provided from Amazon. The one thing I don't understand is how you made the 25 amp cord. Do I solder the wire onto the 25 amp connector. .
When making a second SA20 aviation plug for the Bluetti AC200P, which of the pins , 1 or 2, was positive & which was negative? Also, how long did you make the wire and what size/gauge wire did you use? TIA.
Ty connect your red wire to pin 1. I use 12 awg wire. I used about 2 feet. If your bank is going to be close to the fuse panel than you can shorten it. If you make it longer put your inline fuse closer to the power bank.
The Jackery 2000 carport has output power of 2 Watts, the supply from the carport to the fuse bank will not work in the configuration you present in this video. I wired up as described in video not pulling enough power. Not sure which Jackery you have maybe the 1000 and it works with that? If I am mistaken please correct me, I would love to use the cable I just made. Are there any other ways to provide power to the fusebox using the Jackery 2000, maybe use the A/C output with the proper plug in to the 110 port?
The car output is more than 2 watts? It is 12v/10amp. Is the Jackery reading 2 watts. Sounds like whatever you have connected to the fuse panel is pulling 2 watts?
I have a question. Could I just purchased the 12 volt standard barrel with the two ring connectors on the other end , like you added to the xt60 , and not use the xt60 connectors ? I'm using an ecoflow river pro and don't have xt60 out
Thank You SO MUCH for this. I'm planning for a similar setup but was struggling to find clear info connecting to a 12V fuse panel. This was so clear! XT-90's on order!
Jonnie the sa20 cable that you show linked to amazon appears to be a 2 pin male connector. The bluetti cord is a 2 pin female connector. Any suggestions on where to get a female sa20 connector? Thanks!!!!!
Question: can I just wire a maxfan (black and white wires) to the other end of a cigarette lighter plug and then plug it into my bluetti eb70's cigarette lighter socket? And do I use the INPUT/MPPT to plug in solar panels? And...can I use the maxxfan while I have solar panels plugged in or do I need to unplug solar panels before I use bluetti eb70 to power my devices???? Sorry, for so many questions but I am a major beginner at this and I am learning so much from you guys!!!
I'm sorry. I need help understanding how to hook up my MaxxFan and ceiling buck lights. Can you do a video on this, with more detail (actual demo please)? Thanks. I'm a new subscriber. You're a good teacher. I'm just not the best student. Electrical is confusing. 😊
I tried to do this with my Jackery. The fan ran. An then my cig. Adapter wouldn't work any more. I had a 40 in line fuse. Would this be the reason it quit? I only had a 15 and a 40 here so went w the 40.
I can't find the XT90 to cigarette 12 volt adapter? Do you have an Amazon link? I have the EB70 Bluetti and don't think aviation adapter is applicable...thanks!
You have to make it. Buy the xt90 or xt60 and the cig adapter, use some heat shrink connectors for best results. If you are only using the Bluetti you can skip the xt90 and connect the cig cord to fuse panel. I use the xt90 because I have aviator on Bluetti and cig on Jackery. I have to be able to interchange.
This was a TREMENDOUS help when I build my bus conversion last year. I could not get my head around creating a 12v fuse box powered by my solar charger. You made it very clear and easy - thank you! Last summer while in an RV park in Vermont I was hooked up to shore power (had my Ecoflow hooked up to shore power and the Ecoflow to the 12v fuse box). It was very hot so I had all of my 12v outlets running fans, had my maxair cranked on high and the 12v fridge/cooler (which sucks a lot of power). I over loaded the Ecoflow and the 12v cigarette lighter plug thankfully popped out of the back of the Ecoflow and was melted and deformed 😬. Neither the inline fuse or the fuse in the cig plug popped. I am wondering in those extreme conditions if there is a way to to plug my 12v panel more directly to shore power without having to go through my solar charger? Would I need an inverter? a converter? is this even possible without a battery? Thanks so much for sharing all of your great knowledge!!
Michelle, WOW, the fuse should have blown. The cigarette lighter port is such an unstable connection. I wonder if the plug was loose, the 10am fuses in there definitely should have blown making me think was it hot from over amperage or a loose connection. You can buy adapters that plug into an outlet (shore power) that will receive a cigarette lighter. This again limits to 10amp. Which EcoFlow do you have? For quicker responses, don't hesitate to email me at midwestvanbuilders@gmail.com
I LOVE your videos and think you are doing a great service to all of us trying to learn about portable solar and diy van building. That being said, I'm not sure if some of what you're saying is correct. Doesn't that cigarette output from the Bluetti only do 10 amps? If you plug in something that requires 15 amps it wouldn't give you 15 amps but 10 amps max??? Again, not trying to be rude or upstage you - just trying to figure all this out. Wiring this way only gives you a total of 10amps for your fuse panel unless I'm totally lost. I also am unclear on using the solar input cord into the 12v/25a output - it isn't the same(one is female and the other male). I was planning on doing all of this going through the 12v/25amp output using their cord which is sold out right now. I looked online for something else but I think I just need to wait for it to get in. Please let me know if I'm not making sense. I'm new to this and GREATLY appreciate your help! Thanks again!!!
Thank you so much for you comment. I appreciate that.. Yes one is male and one is female. The link in my description is the correct SA20 adaptor for connecting the fuse panel to the 12v/25a plug. I do not use the 10a on the Bluetti for my fuse panel. I use the 25amp. I use the cig cord for my Jackery. I am always learning as I go. If you are going to use the 10 amp instead then you can change fuse to 10 amp. As long as you don't pull over 1200 watts at any given time you should not trip your system. I have leaned that unless you are trying to produce heat it really doesn't have a high draw. Add heat like blow dryer, cook top ect and then there is trouble. Lol.
@@JonniesJourney WOW - you are on top of it!!! Thanks for clearing that up for me. Like I said, I'm a newbie but read everything I can. You should join the Bluetti Community and check out the post about the guy who used an interlock on his main panel so he could use his Bluetti during outages. I lived in Yuma, Arizona for 25 years and loved the winters. Started laughing when I saw your Flagstaff video. You never know in northern Arizona what the weather will be like, kind of like Denver! We're now in San Diego(Rancho Bernardo) and always game for company!!! Both my husband and I come from big families so we are pretty chill.
Yes it was a crazy ride in that snow storm. San Francisco is on my list. I will have to check out the group. Thank you so much for the tip and for the questions. I am learning as I go for sure and love it.

Awesome video! I have the Bluetti AC200Max and it has a 12V/30 Amp plug I’ll put to my fuse panel. Quick Question: what size of fuse should I have in my inline fuse holder between the Bluetti and fuse panel to not fry everything? Thanks!!
hi there! my wife and I are working on the same set up with a bluetti AC200 and we have the battery expansion 300 to add to it to make sure we have enough power to live full time (hopefully). So grateful for your video. we really need help with the wiring aspect of it all and are very scared to make a mistake. We also have a to add in our 12 volt ac unit to the mix and we are adding the Powermax PM4 75A 110V AC to 12V DC 75 Amp Power Converter to power our air conditioner. But still not sure what wiring to use for the basics of lights, fridge, fan water heater or water pump.... can you recommend us a link or if you have already made a video on it Id love to see it!
Would it be possible to do this on a smaller scale to the Bluetti EB70s? Was thinking of plugging small dometic fridge into 12V cig. port and trying to take DC 5521 to fuse box for just fan and 1 led light strip for weekend trips. Should have enough power, just unsure of connections. Could also use both dc 5521 (1 for LED strip, 1 for fan)
Not sure about taking a 5521 to fuse panel. I would take cig to fuse panel and wire fan, LEDS, and a dc cig adapter to fridge. Then everything is fused and off the cig. Cig should be 10 amp and could handle no problem. If your 5521 is at lease 14awg it could work though.
Thx Jonnie, I have an ac200 but my aviation plug to xt90 cable that came with it, only works on the input side of the Bluetti. The 12v/25a outlet has a female fitting, which means I would need to make a new aviation fitting cable with the 2 prong male connector going to an xt90. Was that your experience too?
AMAZING VIDEO. Could ya make a video on how to make the wire to solar charge your bluetti IF your already using the one provided for the fuse panel DC stuff. thanks
On the Bluetti 200AC and 200P the aviator plug that comes with the Bluetti is a female pin. That cord does not connect to the 12v/25amp that you would use for the fuse panel. But... I have a video coming that will thoughly show this connection and many more. I have taken all the questions I have been getting and answered them in one complete video.
Thank you Jonnie, very useful information, with these detail I have now ordered the components to build the "Output" cable (2 pin SA20) and also make the quick connect to a distribution box for 6 wires. And ya your correct there are very few videos bridging this gap of details,,,, everyone is too busy doing "unboxing" and "reviews" rather than real world usage. Thanks again,,, you're a star! Edit: I love my AC200P & EB240
Hi, unsure what I need to buy for the back up single fuse that runs between the ac90 (ac60 in my case) and the fuse box. Please could you advise? Much appreciated!
Hello, thanks for the video- just what I need. I have a question though: do you know if it is possible to use an XT60 plug instead of an XT90. Is there much difference?
You absolutely can. When Bluetti originally started production they wer notorious for the xt90. They have since changed many of the devices to xt60 as has other companies making it the best choice for versatility. 👍🙂 i also have an updated easier to follow video on the channel if interested. Feel free to reach out with any other questions
One thing I cant find is the jackery cigarette lighter to xt-90 part. Would you happen to have a site you bought this from. Very good info on how i plan to build my simple electrical.
Mine came with the Bluetti. Buy a cigarette adapter on Amazon and yo7 can make one lots cheaper. Bluetti seems to be out all the time. I love the setup. So so so easy. Did it for my current build too.
The main thing missing from this video is connect the xt90 to the 2 pin plug because the 10AWG is way thicker than the connector to the 2 pin so I assume you will have to solder it?
When the the accessory plug (cigarette lighter) is plugged into the Bluetti is that a male or female XT90 connector on the end of the cord? Great Video!!!!
Bluetti consistently uses the female end on their plugs. You can run the cig straight to the fuse panel if you will be using different powering devices. I use the aviator port for Bluetti and the xt 60 on my acevolt, cig on jackery that is why I use the xt90. This video is older. I have a better video explaining it up on the channel.
Great info just what I was looking for. You mentioned using the same input cable from the solar panel input also to the 12v/25amp input, isn’t it a female connection same as the cable? It will allow solar panel input hookup, but wouldn’t you need a similar cable with male ends to connect to the 12v/25amp input? Just making sure I have this correct. Your instructions are so easy to follow.
You are sso right about none of the video's out there that really show you anything I am so glad that I found your channel because you did just what I did and I was told by a solar guy that just knew it all tell me it wouldn't work so I had to try it and it worked great then I see you did the same thing but I stopped with the surge protector and you wired to the box and plugged in to that and dang if I didn't like that just because I can move my bluetti out of the way now I thank you for that tip. As for the 12 volt I have been thinking of undoing it from the bluetti and going with a battery and I still may because the DC power does use a bit more power than I want it to but I don't need to I have never ran out of power it's just that I would have more AC power to play with and maybe able to get another day on the freg. Other than that I have been happy with it the way I have it set up. Now I am not wired off the van battery at all on mine but who knows you may just sell me on that one day. Oh I just saw that your using the cigarette lighter to run your fuse panel I have mine set up to the 25 amp port I have never plugged into the cigarette plug but I do have the wire for it. Now I am running lights and both the maxxair fans with mine as well as two USB chargers for the phones and I think I have 7 double LED lights so I do pull a little more power but keep in mind I don't run all the lights at once unless my wife can't find something then she'll have it lit up like a Christmas tree lol. Take care and stay safe.
Lol thats great. I have mine to the 25 amp aviator plug. I only use the cig for back up. If I do something stupid and drain the Bluetti I have a small Jackery backup. It sure is a easy setup.
Thanks for sharing this was exactly the video I’ve been looking for. You’ve helped a bunch on how to operate your wired van from a solar generator. Very useful/informative video. 👍👍👍
great video, I am looking at the bluetti ac200l with doesn't doesn't have the 12v/25a outlet. Is there still a way for the 200L to power a fuse panel? the cigarette car plug is only 10amp
Hello again Jonnie! Thank you for this video! I just so appreciate you. When you made your own aviator plug, did you solder the pin to the wire, or is there a different t method?
I have a question, not sure if you'd know the answer.. so I bought the 12v/25a aviation plug from blutetti which plugs right into the front outlet (its male) but it ends as a xt60 instead of xt90, would that still work just fine if I just buy an xt60 cable adaptor and wire that to the fuse box instead ? thanks !!!!
Quick question, on your fuse panel do you have the main negative lug grounded to the chassis? Or do you just put one end of the negative to the connecting wire to the solar generator and one positive to the 25 amp service also?
Rick, good question. Originally I just wired it to the aviator port. I had some LED's flickering and it drove me crazy so I ran a wireto the chassis. NO change. Changed the LED's out and flicker is gone. No need to ground the Bluetti plug is enough. 👍
It really depends on what you have in the van and how you plan on keeping it charged. The bluetti I have is 1700 watts and It is plenty enough. What do you plan on having in your build....lights, fan, fridge, usb's?
What is that 12v dc 25 amp chord called? The one that comes with a Bluetti but you needed a second one for the dc power cus the other one is being used for solar
Wow, this video was VERY helpful, Jonnie! You're a natural teacher! Thank you for all the clear and concise info and special thanks for all the links to purchase the materials.
Hi there woukd u be abke to help? Im looking to connect my bluetti ac200p to my current solar panel, im not sure what lead to use, would u know thanks for any help
Your Bluetti has a cable with MC4 connectors on one end, It connects to the aviator cord with the xt60 or xt90. This then connects to the mc4 on the pannel. midwestvanbuilders@gmail.com if you have a different panel port and need further help.
Help Jonnie, I’m so confused. I understand you connected the XT 90 to your fuse panel. And I understand that the cigarette adapter fits into the jackery, and then that cord can attach to the fuse panel via XT 90. So I follow you there. (My second source is a Goal zero 500 so it’s the same concept as what you did with the jackery) I have a Bluetti AC 200max. The aviator plug that came with it is FEMALE. So it won’t fit into the 12v/12 amp socket. That needs a male aviator. I ordered the male aviator but the other end of that cord is an XT 60. Did you jury rig that cord with one of the XT 90 adaptors? Because the only way I can figure out how to make this work is to either make the cigarette adaptor for the jackery have an XT 60 on one end, and the connection to the fuse panel have an XT 60 also. Or- make that male aviator plug have an XT 90 end to it by cutting the XT 60 off and splicing the 90 on there. Help!
I think I figured it out after reading all the comments. I can use the Aviation (M) to my bluetti 12v/30 amp. The other end is an XT60 F. I can order a cigarette lighter adapter for my Goal Zero which will have a XT60 F on the other end. Then either one of these can plugged into the same adapter, which is the xT 60F. My fuse pannel will have the XT 60 M attached to it. I'll put a 25 A fuse between the positive of the fuse panel and the XT 60 positive. Whew! (How'd I do? :)
Hey Jonnie - good info - quick question - I should be able to cut off the cigarette adapter from my 12volt cable for my fridge and put it right into the fuse box as well; correct? I have a BougeRV 30 Qtr Chest Fridge. Thanks
Question: I have the Bluetti 1500 and it has the cigarette lighter for 12v output. I’m confused about what kind of cord to attach to the XT90. Do I just get any 12V male cord then wire it to the XT90?
I have the newer EB70 Bluetti which does not come with XT90 or aviator plug receptacles so I need to create a cigarette lighter adapter. I can't find one anywhere. How did you make your own XT90 to Cigarette lighter male plug adapter?
Mine came with the Bluetti but.... amazon has a cord that is 15A (CUZEC Heavy-duty 15A Male Plug Cigarette Lighter Adapter) they have all different kinds. Also, I used the xt90 for quick disconnect because I have Bluetti and Jackery. They have different connectors. If you just plan on using one generator you can skip the xt90 and wire this cig cord directly to fuse panel.
I've been searching for someone to tell me how to how my Bluetti up to my backyard studio (using the solar panels) with no luck! Including the company, they never responded to any emails or voice messages. Thank you so much for this!
Ok. I changed the 90Xt to 60Xt, according to my Bluetti 2000AC Max specs. I did everything you said, even the additional fuse connection. I have the DC and AC on, bought the BLUETTI RV Cable 12V/30A, Aviation Plug to XT60 Cable and I still don’t have power. Why am I doing wrong?? I’ve spent money in the 90Xt, that didn’t work, bought the 60XT, down $80+ dollars down and I’m so frustrated. I don’t know what else to do and it’s been really hot out!
Please tell me someone didn't charge you $80 for an xt90. Bluetti is changing their xt90's to 60's. This video is a few years old when everything had the xt90. Sorry
Jonnie, my bad. I thought the front Aviation adapter was male and same as one for aviation to solar. But looking again it is actually a female so the Amazon linked plug should work. Thanks
how did it work out ? I ended up buying the aviation plug from bluetti.. but it ends as an xt60 plug not xt90.. I could buy an xt60 adaptor instead of the xt90 and wire that to the fuse but I'm not sure if thats proper ? any ideas lol.
Hello. I purchased a spare aviation connector for this. I noticed it has an xt60 end vs xt90 do I need to use an xt90 cable for the fuse box or can I just get an xt60 to connect it instead? I don't know the difference between the 2. Im a newbie...sorry if its a silly question.
@@JonniesJourney thank you very much! And if I were to use the cigarette cable in this video...do you know where I could find it? Im patiently waiting for my ac300 to ship and want to be ready in every way when it arrives. Your videos have been a huge help. 💚👊🏽
No I do not. I talked to Bluetti about a bluetooth system and I guess it is something being added to the new ones. I have to actually go look at the batter and I says exactly the % left. You get used to knowing how you are doing by the sun and usage. I don't look nearly as often as I did in the beginning.
