I use also a splitter I bought 49$CAN it is the iCAN HDMI V2.0 4X1 Switch with Audio Extractor, Support 4Kx2K@60Hz, 4Kx2K@30Hz, 1080P, 3D (HY-SW5401-A-S-ITE). it is very good picture and sound. No lag. The only cons is the audio PASS, 5.1 and 2ch is a button and not a switch and it don't remember you last selection. so it restart always on 2ch when you power on the box and have to manually set to 5.1. but it works well and cost nothing really. I had like the reviewer to change the apple tv setting to 5.1. I don't know what signal apple send in AUTO mode, but my extractor is not capable to decode in Dolby digital if auto is selected. it works in 5.1 if 5.1 is selected on apple tv. Normally my extractor is capable to decode Atmos to the toslink so Apple is sending an "extended" atmos that is not accepted probably. Because I use my splitter with my sony bluray 6200 and my splitter is converting the dolby atmos to dolby digital EX perfectly. so the problem is in the apple TV 4K atmos format. www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=5_1336_1338&item_id=119357

Actually most HDMI receivers have a passthrough where you can still use the apple TV with the receiver off. You can even switch sources when it is off. (ref: Yamaha RX-V675) My big beef is that you do not get true 5.1 digital sound. The SR SL channels are NEVER used. It's just 2.1 unless you have a direct source.

Hello I have the new Apple TV 4K, I recently bought an Eko soundbar Which has only one hdmi port. I connected the Apple TV to HDMI 1 and the connected the soundbar to HDMI2 but when the video is playing there is no sound. Please what can I do

Man, my girl got me this surround sound system for Christmas so I can hook it up to our projector But we watch Shows off an Apple TV console & our HDMI from our Apple console is going into the projector 📽 . But how am I suppose to hook up the surround sound if the projector doesn’t have another HDMI port and neither does Apple 🍏 Tv?? Any ideas.. please suggest.

Apple TV 4 does have an option to choose where you send the audio. So this would allow you to send the audio to an Airplay enabled speaker. I was wondering if you could use an Airport Express to retro fit an older speaker that isn't sat next to the Apple TV?

Bought the view HD ..plug in as per your instructions but I can't see the appleTV screen on my TV despite locating the input on my TV . Any info regarding this will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Optical is not needed anymore ! Everything goes true hdmi câble just put hdmi in receiver and from that to your tv . It works as a pass through ! Optical inputs are old inputs and are replaced because every sound goes through hdmi 1.4 or 2.0

I got a converter for my apple tv 3 (old model) to BOSE stereo system and a Projector. while the splitter works well for youtube app on apple tv, and mirroring from my apple devices. the netflix apple tv app will not produce anything but harsh white noise through the stereo speakers. why this one...my most used tv app (besides youtube) ?? what is the problem what can I do to fix this? otherwise, the splitter has done exactly what you show in the video and I am very pleased, but ...without netflix this is a waste of apple tv, projector and stereo. youtube is nice, but i want all my apparatus available, dont we?

I got the Apple TV working with surround sound receiver. But I only get sound on Hulu and Apple Music. I am a subscriber to Netflix, Amazon prime, and HBO max. For some reason I only get static from my speakers when trying to watch these other apps. Do you know how I can fix that?

Hi. I'm interested in the way your setup is switched on and off. If the appletv and the receiver are in standby, does the appletv appear in the list of available devices in the AirPlay window of the control centre? And if you select it to play music, does the receiver fire up (but not the TV).

Set up always works fine however once my tv, surround sound and Apple TV all power down it stops working. When I go to turn my tv, speakers, Apple TV back on, I’m left with a “no signal”. Happens every time. Any ideas?

Hi I just bought the view HD per your recommendation and hooked it up to my TV as you show. It seems to work when I'm in the apple tv menu (I hear the click through my surround sound speakers as well as my TV speakers when I scroll through my apps) but when I try to play a movie on Netflix only my TV speakers have sound. Any recommendations?

Apple sucks. Taking away optical audio (in fact all audio) makes it impossible to use Apple TV and surround sound on older amplifiers that don't have HDMI in/out. Really, would this garbage have come out if Steve was still around? May be not. Tim Cook, shame on you for abandoning your most loyal base!!
