This video shows you the basics of setting up CAT control between N1NN+ and your rig. This is a replacement video for an earlier one that did not properly show some settings.
Great video. I run a mobile shack with a Kenwood 480sat. Now I'm looking for a older laptop with a serial DB9 port. I can connect a straight cable between the two. Page 67 of the Kenwood manual has the comms parameters for N1MM. Should work like a charm. Thanks again.😄
Hi Glen, You certainly can use a USB to Serial interface and not limit your laptop horsepower if you would like. I would recommend the FTDI serial chip for those adapters. Glad you liked the video! Stu AG6AG
@@AG6AG Thanks for the feedback, Stu. I have a Surface laptop which of course has USB ports. I'm looking at a DTECH cable with a built-in FTDI chip on Amazon. $25 Cdn. (I live in British Columbia.) A great solution. Certainly will help with using N1MM during contesting. Thanks again. PS - have a great holiday.
Hi Art, The screens I have open are Main Entry, Score Summary, Band Map, States/Sections Multi's and the Log Window. I recommend you check out all the windows under the windows menu and see what you like!
Hi RIchard, Any USB A-Male to B-Male cable should work fine. You will need to download the drivers from Yaesu to access the USB COM ports that on the FT-991A. The cable provided by RT Systems is just a standard USB cable. Hope that answers your question, Stu AG6AG
Are the frequencies you are using part of the licensed space for your region? Here in the US we do not have 11M as an allocated frequency. This question might be better suited for the N1MM support team. Stu AG6AG
Hi Larry, Yes, you certainly can. If you want to track your frequency and mode you can type the frequency into the call window, hit enter, then type in the mode, and hit enter once more. Hope that helps, Stu AG6AG
@@AG6AG Ok I don't have a CIV unit here yet but would love to do so which would make it easier making RTTY contacts. I have been looking in the book of the baud rate of my IC718 and haven't found it.
I'm actually looking at the IC718 for a second radio. It looks like a simple rugged radio that can be used in the field. I see there is a cable for it as well so you don't have to buy a CIV unit. I'll let you know if I get it and if the cable works. Stu AG6AG
@@AG6AG thanks for the reply I have tried a few times to get it running but it comes up with errors and in the connections to the radio and I looked in the book for the baud rate but havent found it. I have a FT857d and Icom 706 mk2 and p[lan to try them on this plan
