You did great. Stuck your nose in it to test yourself. Now you know a lot more because of cold and varying pace on rolling course.

I appreciate that he went for it. But, I think it is evident that it was the wrong move. I went for it one time in an 800 meter race as a high school freshman. Sitting in 3rd place 150 meters into the race, I panicked, because I was boxed in (on the inside lane directly behind the leader). So, I burst between the leaders and basically started sprinting. I then died and got passed by about 8 or 10 people in the last 600 meters. That was incredibly stupid of me, because I was literally right behind a 2:03 800-meter runner, and my PB was 2:26! What would the race had been like if Mantz hung back with Fable for the first half? They could have helped each other, and maybe they would have both done better. Fable ran the smarter race, and I have to give a ton of credit to him for his mental and physical toughness and patient persistence to keep working hard when he couldn't see the lead pack. There is a fine line between taking a calculated risk and insanity. That pace in the first half was pretty close to insane for non-Africans. No disrespect for Mantz here! He is obviously a beast!

Congrats man! Leading or passing anyone in a marathon or any race is meaningless if you finish behind them or DNF.

It’s not a flex to pass Kipchoge on his worst day. Should have been a bit more low key talking about that.

Lol you try and not get giddy when you pass the GOAT.
@RunForPeace-hk1cu
@RunForPeace-hk1cu Год назад
@@mattbrackley9885 I can be giddy inside, but I wouldn't brag to my friends if I pass Kilian while he's limping on the trail injured? That's not a flex. You don't kick someone when they are down. I'm sure I'll tell my friends about how I beat the GOAT as a "talking shit session in a campfire", but I'm sure as hell not gonna brag about it on camera about how I beat the GOAT on the worst day of his life esp as a professional athlete (his colleague). If I'm a professional runner, I want to beat Kipchoge on his BEST day. But that's just me.

@@RunForPeace-hk1cu I didn’t really see it as a flex as he was explaining how he was blacking out from exhaustion in the same interview. Also he explained how Eluid sprinted by him not 200m later.

@@RunForPeace-hk1cu he said he motioned for Kipchoge to keep up.
