one tiny detail that i really like is at 2:35 when gavin turns to his coworker and gestures at connor like "can you believeeee this guy?" you can see connor turn to the cop as well and, like, start to smile... it's so genuine and oblivious and sweet.
3:15 poor thing...it seems he doesn't understand why Gavin leaves without the coffee. You didn't do anything wrong Connor... please don't look so sad... that breaks my heart :( . "I'm a prototype" and how he smiles after Gavin says "Android detective"...it's so cute how proud he is of himself ...what a cutie. How can Gavin be so mean to him? :(
@@sliceofbread6929 But the thing is, his LED doesn't even turn red, which means he doesn't recognize Gavin pointing the gun as a danger (I don't quite remember if that's true or not, can't remember the mechanics exactly, but it's a nice touch if it is)
He reads as way too insecure for that. Probably more likely to be the sort who got bullied and now relishes having someone actually beneath him that he can take it out on. Highschool bullies don't tend to take that shit into adulthood.

I think what he meant by that was "what *kind of* model are you?" implying his model *type* and not number. (There are multiple types of police androids in game.) I mean, he did say "A prototype? Android *detective."* a bit later on, so it's only logical if that was the meaning.

he imitate pain, so like "oh i got hit, lemme choose an animation", they dont actually feel pain, he got shot in the arm at the beginning of the game and didnt give a damn...so he kinda just imitated the pain so Gavin will F off and let him feel good about himself, but its a good idea "tyler bostrom"
I'm pretty sure what happened was just that it hit a bio component. It was hit and caused him to go down. His face didnt really look pained, more so just confused

I guess Gavin dislikes androids 'cause they are always perfect, too perfect. Better than real people. He actually hates when someone is better than him. He is also scared of losing his job to machines. Like, he probably needed to work very hard to become detective, and knowing that a "fake perfect plastic imitation of human" can take his job from him one day, not doing anything to deserve this is..unnerving? His job is very important to him. I think that he also don't like that androids are so blank, don't have their own opinion etc., just do orders. They never feel anything, and it annoys Gavin. Maybe that's another reason why he is always mean to Connor, he wants him to actually do something? Defend himself, talk back? Just wanna draw out a reaction. By the way, he can be a dick to humans, too. Maybe he just enjoys being mean/ is jealous of people that have higher positions than him, or those that are more liked and respected? :0 Maybe he was a kind person before, but got stabbed in the back by "friends" or how they say it, got used by others and then left alone or something. (It's not that uncommon, happens a lot to good people). So he swore to himself that he will never let anyone hurt him anymore, and he become an asshole, so people would stay away and don't mess with him? Who knows :D But at least we have some fun in making our own theories about this dude.
He's only shown being hostile to Connor and Hank. Connor because he's an android detective and humans losing jobs to androids is a hot topic and Hank because Hank has maintained his rank as lieutenant despite being a belligerent drunk who doesn't show up before noon. Note during the interrogation Gavin says "this time", strongly implying Hank has pulled that kind of stunt before and not been punished for it. Game also shows he has enough of a comfortable rapport with both Tina and Chris to converse with them casually, so it's pretty likely his behavior is targeted.

this is super late but its because of a translation error from french. properly translated it means "what *_kind_* of model are you?" instead of just "what model are you?"
Detective Gavin Reed was honestly such a cool ass character and had so much potential. I feel like we got kinda robbed because he was intentionally written off to be just some random asshole when he easily was just as much of a dick to Connor as Hank was when they first met. The only real difference between them is that Connor simply spent more time with Hank, so Hank grew more fond of him. Gavin easily could have been a redeemable character.
I think so too. They sort of hint at that potential with the interaction options if you answer him instead of ignore. But tbh I feel any redemption story Gavin had would've unfold the same way Hank's did, or be too similar at the very least, so for the sake of avoiding redundancy its better that they left him alone to show that even though people can change, not everyone does.
@@mcflurryfrostie I think the key line is "Are androids going to take my job"? This might be the root of the hatred that many police officers including Gavin possess towards androids. It's also apparent that Gavin doesn't know much about androids, how they function, what is deviancy etc (since he thinks androids can be "roughed up" when they don't actually feel pain). Since he's confused and scared, he becomes tense.
8:03 Gavin is tsundere af, he’s all mean and aggressive all the time, but for a split second sounds kind of sad and disappointed when Conner says he has to go back to Cyberlife.
When you're punched in the stomach you go "oof" beacuse a sudden amount of air flows out of you. Connor has a mouth and presumably space for air, so he can be winded, it will have no effect but he'll still make the sound.

I think in the break room scene Gavin was pissed off because he was trying to flirt with his coworker and Connor, who likes to stick to the rules, walks in and Gavin can't flirt anymore for fear of being reported. Which is why he decides picking on a poor defenseless android will impress her.
I don't really ship Connor and Gavin, but I think that there's an error at 7:15 when Connor said, though I'm certainly going to miss our bromance. XD IM DYING. And then of course that's all for the irony.
I saw a theory that Gavin takes red ice because he shows similar symptoms to Leo in Carl's studio- he's twitchy and irritable, quite pasty with sunken in eyes and also his skin is kinda darker around the eyes like with bags and such. I see some potential in this theory... I also kinda would like to believe that Gavin cleans up his act post best-ending and becomes a better person. There would still be great banter between him and Connor tho cause that's a given 😂
