Id say the reason why he doesnt get insanely pressured is because he’s just too good. Like if u press ur average player they’ll probably skate themselves into a turnover tbh but with mcdavid and really any elite player u cant pressure them like that. The reason guys don't step up on him even when it's not on the rush is his 1st step and hands are too good. He can burn guys even from a standstill, so they give him space and try to limit his passing options.

If youre a forward playing top line minutes the minimum you should be getting is about 20. Top end or elite players can get 30+ goals. If youre getting over 40 youre probably a top 10 goal scorer in the league. Over 50 and youre likely winning the rocket for most goals. Matthews won MVP last year for having 60 in 73 games. Mcdavid is likely going to score closer to 65 goals this year with about 90 assists. McDavid is on pace for 155+ points which is more than anyone not named gretzky or lemieux who did it at a time with far more goals. McDavid currently has about a 30 point lead on the person in second place right now and the guy in second place is on his team so hes partially responsible for that. Its trully an unreal season and will likely be considered one of the greatest mvp seasons ever.
