He's the captain of his team. He's with his boys in the dressing room. The "fans" in Florida are booing. I wouldn't come out either. And if you would good for you I guess. 😅@@memberwhen22
Crosby and Gretz both did it too....if anything this will make him a more complete player and leader. He'll be back 100 percent whether as an oiler or not...he wants to win and he will but P.K. said it best...it's just not his time...yet...
Even as a Panthers fan, the Conn Smythe was well deserved. This man played fantastic, and I do feel for him. Big respect, I hope he gets to lift the cup yet.
Go back and watch the interviews with JS Giguere and Ron Hextall when they won the Conn Smythe in losing efforts. Yeah they were both crying, upset and couldn't give a sh@t about the award but they still put on their big-boy pants, came out and accepted the award. It's called being a professional
Nothing but class displayed in this interview man. I really feel for the guy. One of the top sportsmen alive today if you ask me. Full respect here from London city
@@memberwhen22 I don't know about that, I'm talking about this particular video I actually saw with my eyes, so you can take your whataboutery and stick it up ya backside pal
McDavid rules. I was born in the same hospital as the guy in Richmond Hill, Ontario (different years) and even played on the same AAA youth team as a kid (I didn't play with him). York Simcoe Express. So I admit I'm fully biased Connor then went on to play in the GTHL for the Toronto Marlies, went to Junior A, got drafted by the Oilers and the rest is history. Just a matter of time till he wins a Stanley Cup imo.
As Florida Panther fan living in Ft Lauderdale all I can is this man is the definition of HEART! And I hope he and the Edmonton Fan Base win a Stanley Cup soon.
Not me edmonton fans are the worst especially with that cry baby mc norings garbage if I ever watched a player play he's by fat just a figure skater playing hockey
Grats to the Miami fanbase. I was a big fan of Beezer back in the day and was sad when they lost it to the Avs. Still I’m an Albertan, and I love the Oilers, I hope this is our year. Fingers crossed for the injury bug to skip our team.
@@franciscoanimationsvery bold to assume anybody can go to finals next year they were losing it aint easy tampa lost in 15 and next time they got back to finals was 2020 so panthers and tampa back to back finals are special and not the rule
Respect McDavid for doing this interview after a heartbreaking moment, that’s why he’s my idol and I respect him as a human being and amazing hockey player.
Had they played the first three games like the last four, the outcome could've been different. The positive is that they made it further than last year, and are now more experienced.
@@Derrick2shot They outshot them, but some of those other stats like giveaways and takeaways matter just as much. They had Bobrovsky solved, but chose to go back to using slapshots. They'll either come back stronger or respond like the 2006 Oilers and not make the playoffs.
Let’s separate the proposed loss of the Cup into something truly extraordinary! Connor McDavid is the best player in the NHL today. He led the Oilers to a record setting season. He led from the top down and his team mates responded in kind. These players didn’t loose the game; they made the series one of the best Stanley Cup Finals ever. They not only did their Fans and city proud; they made all of Canada proud. Let’s take that away when considering this 2-1 Game 7 Final. They could have easily won the Cup! They never gave up, they fought to the last second and to me that’s as much of a win as you can get without winning! I am filled with pride for all they accomplished so let us as a Nation embrace these players into our heart for they did us very proud.
Man. As a flames fan I say this with full respect. I was raised to hate the oilers no matter what. Anyone but Edmonton type of thing. But holy. Mcdavid is easily my favourite player in the league. He himself deserved the cup tonight. Not the rest of the team Mcdavid deserved it. Crazy. We are witnessing probably the best player to lace them up
You’re gonna give credit to any Oilers player and say it’s McDavid as the GOAT and not GRETZKY? Come on man his jersey number is retired for all teams for a reason.
That's big buddy... I'd say he's absolutely in the top 5 but there are levels to greatness and Gretzky, Orr and Mr Hockey Gordy Howe still hold the top 3. I think McDavid may get there one day but that day is absolutely not now.
@@blutomindpretzel1735 Crosby also had a lot better pieces around him. Pittsburgh had depth in those wins and we saw tonight the depth of Florida's 3rd & 4th line doing the gritty work that wins championships. Edmonton is missing that depth but they had an absolute incredible season and McDavid Captained that like a 20yr veteran
McDavid has a lot to be proud of. I know it stings but this series just shows that they can do it. Thanks from Canada and giving us a series to root for.
So hard for these guys. Now we find out how injured McDavid and Drai were. They really stepped up. I hope they know all the fans love them and appreciate them.Wishing them rest and recovery. ❤️🩹
I guess in your view losing isn’t failing, it’s “nice trying”. The oilers are legendary when it comes to trying. I can’t wait for their parade where they’ll celebrate being the best at trying.
The series was decided by one goal difference, could have gone either way, great teams on both ends, both teams had hard paths to the finals, was really fun hockey to watch, tough sad finish for the Oilers, but I cant wait for another push to the finals from then next year.
@@RobertooNunezz-bz8bg yeah I used to be a Canucks fan, I grew up in the Vancouver area, that was a very tough loss, unfortunately a riot broke out and drunk fans decided to trash their own city which was replicated in the finals against Boston in 2011 which was 4-3 Boston victory in game 7.
credit to florida, they matched edmonton in intensity once their backs got against the wall. I feel like thats the biggest takeaway here- good teams dont go out without a fight. sometimes you have to be in a must win situation to squeeze out whatever it is needed to eliminate the other team
Unfortunately going down 0-3 hurt the Oilers chances bigtime. Impressive they were able to battle back and push the series to 7 games. Just a matter of time till McDavid wins his first Cup imo.
Go back and watch the interviews with JS Giguere and Ron Hextall when they won the Conn Smythe in losing efforts. Yeah they were both crying, upset and couldn't give a sh@t about the award but they still put on their big-boy pants, came out and accepted the award. It's called being a professional
As I was rooting for Florida seeing this interview made me sad. He just looked like he was going to cry the whole time. Props to McDavid for making it through the whole thing because I know it’s very hard to do
"They did a good job of shutting things down." He said it. That's exactly the winning recipe in modern hockey. Look at Team Finland's recent world championships and Olympic gold win. Look at how the Panthers played. It's all 5 man defending and focusing on offense only when they need to. That's how you win in hockey now. It's the best strategy, to shut things down.
Man, it's been a couple of rough nights for you, hasn't it? Didn't Afghanistan beat Australia in cricket two night ago as well? Sorry not sorry, I was rooting for both Afghanistan and Florida! Better luck next time around.
Mcdavid winning the conn smythe in a losing effort perfectly sums up his career with the oilers. Can’t wait for this summers edition of the mcdavid “cup or bust but for real this time tour” lmfao.
@@TradingIsLife420Barkov is not an mvp at all what so ever Bobrovsky more like it, but Bettman gave it to mcdavid. So it doesn’t matter anymore relish the Florida win. And keep that in your music box. It’ll never happen again.
Absolutely. Less than a dozen teams have pulled off the down 3-0 comeback. Crazy it was done in the finals, and that he had so many points. Once the pain of the loss is gone, he’ll be so proud of the season and winning the MVP
@@danielzychniewicz2633 except when crosby won his cups he was not even talked about as a 200 ft player ,that has come up the last 4-5 years and crosby has had no playoff success in 7 years.
Connor rules. Best player in the league. He gave everything to win it for the Oilers and even though I'm not an Oilers fan I respect the hell out of McDavid.
What a herculean effort by the Oilers!.... They came up short but nothing to be ashamed of.... congrats on a great season.. they will be back next season. 💪💪
I can’t express with words how absolutely horrible I feel for him ☹️ he deserved to win the cup and I really wanted to see him win one. McDavid is a generational player and so fun to watch. I have no doubt he will get another shot at it!
He did not deserve to win a cup. Nobody deserves to win it people earn it. This is not a children’s game where they get a participation award he didn’t deserve anything.
@@safejewel2072 Oh please...Edmonton had LA, Vancouver, and a gassed Dallas. They were like the 5th best team in the league this year, in reality. They played a Panthers team that played a ton of hockey over the last 1.5 years...Oilers overachieved
@@Aforg209 to add to this. This is Vancouver with their 3rd goalie. Edmonton got so lucky they weren't on the Central side of the bracket that had those 3 monsters, and the defending champs Vegas.
@@crushdavis7048 Silovs played awesome, but yea, I think a healthy Vezina-finalist Demko would've taken Van past Edm. Edmonton deserves credit for almost pulling it off, but they weren't the best team either way
McDavid had to lose this one so that he could win his next three Stanley Cups finals. Life doesn't allow you to just win it easily the first time, you have to lose before you win big.
I am not the biggest hockey fan in the world but in ten years from today people won't remember who won the cup in 2024, but everyone will remember the Edmonton Oilers coming back from a 3 game deficit to play in the Stanley Cup final.
@@mikeyoungblood1642 moron. the panthers were lucky bobrovski stood on his head. if it wasnt for him the series would have been over last week. florida didnt beat the oilers. borovski did
It isn’t McDavid’s time. Crosby lost to the red wings and Gretzky lost to the Islanders. Gretzky went to the Islanders locker room and saw that the Islander players were bruised and battered and paid the price to win the Stanley Cup. Connor’s time is coming. At this level, winning and losing is based on fine margins.
I can't believe some people are ripping on Mcdavid. I would be over the moon if the Leafs would go past the 2nd round. So proud of the Oilers they will learn from this & win it all next year
If my Leafs don't win the cup, I consider it a lost season. You make it sound as if it's a Canada cup and all you have to do to win is be the last Canadian team in the playoffs. That would make sense if we actually played eachother. We don't...
@@BrentSkwarkBlackhawks fan here, but the most hilarious part of the aftermath of a team losing are randies on the internet calling Professional Athletes with Millions "losers" lmfao Shut up dude 🤣
Ngl I feel bad for him. He has a lot of potential. Hopefully soon enough he wins a cup, but it probably won’t be with the Oilers Had to remove the last part cuz yall wanna attack me… yall just mad
They made this a great series, they should be proud of what they achieved. Someone had to lose, and it would have been hard on either team so come so close to the prize. Your day will come, hopefully you can keep the team together for next year and get another shot.
As a Canucks fan I don't care what anyone says the Oilers were the standout team and the 'stars' of 2024. I do not want to face you guys again in round 2 at all . Well done . You are Titans and the only team the will be remembered from this season
As a Caps fan, i've seen Ovi do that kind of interview way too much. But you have to lose in order to win later. Keep pushing hard, Oilers should win soon.
McDavid is the goat, class player. He will get his cup I have no doubt. Panthers fought hard and it's difficult not to be satisfied that Maurice and Luongo finally get their cup.
As a Leafs fan, I am devastated for the Oilers esp McDavid. It would been a great celebration in Edmonton and Canada to see the cup come home. I don't care the Panthers won, it is more of a gulf town anyways. This is so heartbreaking!
No. That’s him playing 4d chess against his competition. I think he legitimately loathes the oilers after what happened the last time they faced each other in the playoffs.
Did McDavid lack character and understanding of the essence of the game when he refused to return to the ice to accept an award like a manchild in the midst of a temper tantrum?
What about when McPrincess decided to be a salty manchild and not come out when bettman awarded him his sympathy conn smythe trophy? Wayne Gretzky would NEVER
Your time will come that's for sure!! Congrats from Finland for Conn Smythe! There were no better player in the play offs even though your team didn't win.
They did their best. Hard road but it is not easy coming back from a 3 game hole and win game 7 in their barn. Nothing to be ashamed of Connor. Always next year.
Edmonton may benefit from a physical and nifty deflection expert in front of the net. I would never have guessed them making the final after their start. Whichever players they acquired have made a huge difference. They will be back. Congrats to Florida. As expected.
Not an Oilers fan or a McJesus fan but I do feel for the dudes. Florida just has so many Finns and I like their team in general. Different setup and I might have been rooting for Oil. On the plus side he's now proven that getting there is possible and even likely. Go get it next year
A real leader. His vision for this team was the Cup from the drop of the puck in the pre-season. His teammates believed and wanted the same. Hoping they'll be back soon to achieve their goal
Mad respect for this team and that city. Hard fought series, and had it not been for Bob those first few games, this would have been a completely different outcome. Mad respect too to Oilers fans and how fkn committed they were. I’ve never heard a louder building, and yes, I’ve been to both Leafs and Habs home games, lest Leafs and Habs fans get pissy about it.
McDavid always blames bad bounces and never actually takes accountability. He just says ‘we should’ve won if that one thing didn’t happen’. People give this whiner too much credit for his lack of leadership.
Every Oiler deserves the recognition for their max efforts. A tuff to take loss for sure but they battled to the last second.... Bobrovsky was a shot blocking machine .... Cheers to you 2023/24 Oilers...See you in October..come back healthy and stronger.
Unreal that anyone could criticize McDavid on how things turned out. Without him, Edmonton probably doesn't even make the playoffs after their poor start. Having said that, the Con Smythe should have gone to Bob.
