This is clearly old footage, he’s got the frame for 155lbs or 170lbs here and the longish hair, I would say this is somewhere close to the Khabib fight because his hair is the same style here as around that time but it could also be around the time of his Cowboy fight. Conor is twice the size now and besides I don’t think he’s fully cleared from his doctors to all out roll like this yet Edit: a lot of delusional people in this comment section lmao Edit 2: hahahhahaa I told you delusional kids. Look at the new sparring footage of Conor he’s just uploaded which is actually of him recently. A lot more stockier than he was in this old clip, a lot more stuck in the mud, different hair and visible scar. Bunch of clowns the lot of yous, I told you
@@cskakickboxing1631 you can see the scar on the inside of his left ankle and this footage was taken this month. I don’t know how you said that so confidently like you know wtf is goin on😂😂😂 like wtf. why bold out lie like that.
I would say I agree but the way he currently does pad/heavy bag work is very stiff and full power. Which indicates thats probably how he really trains mostly. Not sure why the guy who had insane timing and precision trains like that going against previous methodologies hes had. He always had a flowy style to his fighting even his grappling (like when he swipped nate diaz) which he shows here even if its against a guy whos lower level than him but not sure why hes strayed in his striking. Who knows maybe one day we'll see that flowy style again.
This is what we need! We need more McGregor back in the mix with this kind of passion and motivation. It's awesome to see him still so driven no matter the BS that's gone on.
Considering the leg break, he’s improved so so much! Every since the Khabib fight his wrestling has got so much better! This just makes me even more excited for his come back! 💪🏻
@@yxng-_-goku absolutely no one has had conors style so how can you say it doesn't work? None of the karate dudes do what conor did, spinning back kick axe kick high kick all back to back, max fight is perfect example. Wonderboy has a completely different style and so does every other karate dude in the ufc
It's kinda boring rn IMO, most of the champs are unlikable, and have boring fighting styles. No one can talk good shit, there aren't any female superstars, etc etc
I would love to see him train with Khamzat intermittently like how Darren does. This was awesome to see, and makes me even more excited for the return!
He's not returning. At least not for a long time. He's been out of the USADA testing pool since seemingly his last fight. You have to be IN the testing pool for a minimum of 6 months I believe before you're allowed to even be booked for a fight.
He isn’t out of the testing pool, he never left the testing pool. He just hasn’t been tested in a while, USADA isn’t sending people to check his piss in Ireland
His instincts & technique have improved. Still a lot of explosive movements which will tire you out but that's what his bodies built for. Impressive stuff
Man seeing how conor does vs his long time wrestling coach in this is super inspiring. Such good chain wrestling. He hits a slick outside to inside single, hits the knee drag, gets the hands on the mats, anticipates the counter rotation and grabs the ankle, his coach turns in to break the hold, he picks the ankle up and stops the rotation, turns the corner under the arm and drives for the finish, floats straight into side control. Absolutely beautiful grappling right here. Absolutely beautiful. 0:35
@DireGoth03 Gaming Channel Hell nah for Conor to become a wrestler he needs to practice wrestling nearly everyday the cardio for wrestling and striking is a lot different.
@@Dylan-cr5ub it didn't but at least he can proudly say he was able to wrestle 50 seconds with the best mma grapplier of all times till his last breath 😂
This is more of what I want to see from him, as a fan of his and knowing that it was him that brought me into my love for MMA. Seeing him training in a gym with others is what I want to see. Not gold punching bags in an all white walk in closet with just himself. Having that pool of hungry sharks around you pushes you further. This is what he is best at
I really like the way Conor controls the posture by grabbing the head. It seems he’s in constant pursuit to break posture. It’s not to the same level but it reminds me a lot of Nicky Ryan’s game. Looking sharp Mr.Mcgregor hope to see you back in the octagon soon
Actually no it’s pretty useless, u can use it to snap out opponent down and transition it into holding the traps. Other than that it’s super useless to just leave your hand on their head. If anything it leaves you very exposed to ur opponents offense as it can lead to them using a 2 on 1 or they could just push ur elbow up and leave u at the mercy of a single leg/ high crotch. That’s why my wrestling coach says to only put ur hand on their head for no more than 2 seconds.
@@tonyespinoza3891 yeah dude that was either a low level wrestler or someone letting conor get rounds in at a low pace But his single leg wasnt super clean and his bjj definitely wasnt And even still conor was using more muscle pushing the other guy and exploding more in a few unnecessary ways like in clenches
It's cool to see him focus on his other skills besides striking. Looking forward to seeing it translate in the cage. He's def going to improve his takedown defense, but to see some offensive wrestling from him would be refreshing. Respect to the the fighter. The Man however, well, that's a different story.
This is actually great. You can see him still training and clearly not done yet. He gets a lot of shit (some of it can be seen as justified) but he’s putting in the work where he needs it. I’m still a fan.
@@seungsooim2183 and I didn’t say he was some sort of great wrestler but he’s working on it and that’s what counts. Always good to work on your weak points and become better and it’s never gonna happen overnight
If Connor wants to learn wrestling for real, he should just come to the us and ask a d1 college if he can work there with them. The pace and drilling is relentless and I could actually see Connor being a solid wrestler after that
Bro be realistic look at the video again he's basically rolling with a beginner that second guy that he's going against. Do you really think Conor wants to get man handled by collegiate wrestlers?
this is the conor that we love to see man, leg break and now training again, inspiring man, guy doesnt even have to move a finger and can live at the highest level of life lol
Very interesting to see him back on the mats. I find itinteresting how the second sparring partner (respectfully) seems like a much significantly lower level than conor and i don’t see how that is benefiting him (to the point where he even puts his foot on his head). good to see him back @ it but i woule love for him to bring in some good d1 athletes and truly level up instead of keep the same usual stuff we see , evident that conor takes full control over what he wants to do and does.
It definitely helps to train with people who are lower level than you but given Conor has always had control over his camps i see where youre coming from
Its useful for that kid that is training against someone who is better than him. Conor is obviously a student in that gym just like the rest of them Hes a true martial artist who understands that its not just about himself but his training partners as well
Could actually see conor evolving and being decent at takedown defense if he just lets himself get humbled and be taught. Problem with conor is hes got nothing but yes-men on his side which is why his growth has plateaued.
you don't learn wrestling. it's something you have to grind and grind. conor will never be good at wrestling because he doesn't have the stamina. he might be able to stuff some takedowns but every opponent of his knows by now to keep the pressure on him and he will eventually gas out. Conor's downfall is he moved up a weight class (bigger dudes, many who walk around at 175-180 lbs) whereas in the featherweight division, he was fighting much smaller overall guys. And then after the fight with Floyd, he stopped focusing on MMA and relied on his boxing constantly hunting for the head shots.
Na u wrong am not really a big Connor fan anymore but his takedown defence is decent...at lightweight its gis cardio he needs to work on cause he cant flatline oppponents he gas to go a little deeper and problem is his cardio is worse now than it ever has been
For those of you who are wondering who the guy is wrestling with Conor. He was an old guy who got into an altercation with Conor at a bar in Dublin. Conor then invited him to train with him. And now he trains regularly with Conor and they go for runs together too.
@C L that was a young max though with no experiance and a Dennis siver on the decline, he got sloppy against Nate, and ragged dolled on the mat against khabib, he almost got caught in a guillotine against Chad. His jitz isn't the best to compete with the highest in the UFC. His jitz is decent just not the highest level especially when he's gassed out
Conor always had pretty great takedown defence from his movement training. Stuffed a lot of Khabib, Chad and all of Eddie's takedown attempts but because Chad was a D1 wrestler and Khabib one of the most relentless and best wrestlers in the UFC, he still got taken down so it hid how good he'd still done. All the same though, he's about 4 years too late focusing on this now, unless he's serious about reaching Colby, Usman and Khamzat level wrestlers, in which case fair play and hope he does well.
@@MrShabbaaaa dana white : conor is next. Khabib: Nah. Dana 3 fights later: the conor reematch is happening. Khabib: i retire 29-0 or should i say 25-tomatocans 4-0
He only trains with yes-men now. He needs to learn that iron sharpens iron and that every fighter needs a master. He is not washed due to age or damage, but because he has become his own coach and is undisciplined
Remember Josh Thompson talking about the Khabib fight. He said McGregor did the best against Khabib when it came to defensive grappling. McGregor is a great grappler just never uses it
The fact that the man never needs to leave his house or yacht a day in his life and has enough money for his entire bloodline and then some and just came off a gruesome injury and is already back to training in mixed martial arts should tell you something. You can say whatever you want about Conor but he is a true martial artist and will go down as a legend!
Finally looks half decent. Doesn’t seem like he’s doing it for the camera either this time. Shocking. Could he really come back? I think it’s possible now. Time will tell.
This is very old guys. I train at SBG naas. Those doors havnt been there in years (the background on the right side) plus I don’t remember anyone here other than the coach. And the mirror beside the doors has been gone like 3 months. Idk why they posted this now but trust me this is old, the monster vending machine has been gone like a year too
Even tho McGregor is a striker originally, there’s quite a bit of things he does good but as a wrestler myself, I wish we’d see him use more hip pressure and pick up that ankle more when they have a single leg so the opponent can’t step up & through for the takedown or to get the back
@@jhosserivera7162 yeah + hes not wrestling people who are world class like the guys hes facing. He needs to switch camps and find one that will work on things like setups rather than just throwing combos and sitting on the outside. He had his most success when he threw traps and then countered (example being aldo).
It's best to mix in all sizes and skill levels into your grappling training. How do you think college wrestlers got so good? They were training with kids just getting into hs and learning wrestling when they 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year hs students. You trian with people in all weight classes too with a focus on people around your size of course. Some thing repeats when you get in college just at a higher level.
I remember Dustin Poirier noting after the second fight that he was surprised how east Conor was to control on the ground/clinch and saying “he’s just not strong” nice to see Conor taking advantage of his new size and strength he’s gained over the past year
@@Yungballmane I wasn’t talking ab that, Conor’s clinch striking is still dangerous but the way Dustin talked ab it was more in the way of he wasn’t hard to grab on to and keep him there
Damn the wrestling here is great. So crazy he's still getting better. If he brings back more karate style striking with wrestling like this he'd be dangerous.
My question for Conor has always been..what great wrestler does he train with? Based on watching him his wrestling is not bad at all. I know he isn’t a wrestler but he continues to work at it, which is admirable. Objectively speaking, while also being a college level wrestler myself, he looks about as good and a varsity high school kid in California (slightly above average skill level) which says a lot for someone who never wrestled competitively. I think he needs to really work his grappling with some high level guys (if he isn’t already I could be full of shit 😂) then his game will be at a much higher level.
Thought was seeing something new when I seen the video pop up but after watching clearly it's old footage when he was a 155 r nearly had me for a minute Mac Life lol
This is the best thing I've seen from Conor Mcgregor in awhile. No bs, no trash talking, no cringe hype WWE nonsense. IF Conor does ever return to the sport I hope he does so without much lip service. I'm sick of hearing his gums flap and then watch him botch the opportunity. But I would love to see him return in top form and do the talking with his fighting. When he knew that he was a fighter first and foremost is when his career was the best.
