@@Kilo5910420I think they’re literally saying that it’s inspiring to see him doing so well after such a gnarly leg break 😂 what’s there to not understand
He's made a hybrid style between the new boxing orientated stance and his old kicking situation. The variety will do him well when it comes to his timing. Chandler can crack so I'm glad to see him more mobile compared to his last few fights. This footage has actually made me pretty excited for the fight. He looks sharp 👌🏽
I've always loved the uppercut combos he throws. He does seem slower now than he once was, but thats to be expected with aging and putting on more muscle. I hope he returns with a bang

@@jadonploxbollox, hes always at it, he knocked out some 17 year old during a camp and the chap hasnt been the same. Its the only wins he can get nowadays.
I thought the same.. nice to see him using alot of kicks again.. i dont love how heavy forward he is with his head though. Its working with the head gear and big gloves but if he carrys that to the cage it could spell trouble
This definitely wasn’t a glimpse of his old style. This was 100% his new style. Standing taller instead of staying low and long, bobbing and weaving instead of distance control, nothing about this was similar to his old style at all. I really wish he would go back to the old style of fighting; it used his strengths to his advantage much better than this modern boxing style he’s incorporated.
Connor has always put the work in against lesser opponents. He loves beating up bums. It's against quality opposition that he has a problem against. I thought the guy he was sparring with was Brendan Loughnane for a second there but na, it's just some Irish bum that's easy work for Connor. He doesn't like to challenge himself by getting quality opposition into the gym, he just beats up bums to fuel his ego. Did the other fighter even land a single punch? This sparring partner is definitely not adequate to the level of opposition Connor will be facing in the cage. Still though, it's a step up from pensioners in a bar.
I love to see that Connor’s still got it, just the one thing that’s changed because of the boxing is that he seems a lot more flat footed now, if he’d go back to the in-and-out fencing style he used to fight with then I think he’d become champ again and he probably would have beat Diamond (of course excusing the ankle break as well)
@@AbelR91 hes past his prime Karate stance wont do him any good when your physical prime isnt there anymore... certain things are better executed hen your mind and especially body are in top shape

The blend and incorporation of all his new found styles looks promising, the tighter closer Thai stance to mitigate low kicks and takedowns, along with the TKD/karate bladed stance to throw the wild kicks and probing hand strikes
@@illmat1cI honestly believe people reinjure themselves more from hesitating due to having that injury opposed from just training regularly with proper recovery
There was a couple times it looked like his leg was bothering him and then it looked almost like he was doing all those crazy movements to try and prove it wasn't bothering him which is you watch after he stops that takedown attempt he starts raising his knees almost to his chest and I think that's why cause his leg bothered him from hopping on just it backwards to stop the takedown.
I hope he comes back and utilizes a full toolset. The guy can win the first 2-3 rounds against pretty much any lw with his own skillset. He just needs to make adjustments in that 3rd round so that he doesnt just give the round up if he's slowing down or if theyre figuring him out a bit. He's got to do like he did in the diaz fight. Add some clinch work in the 3rd and 4th and if youre up in the rounds they have to come to you

@@TheStarBazaar Yes and he's supposed to be training for a fight, not his ego. That combination along with his 720 tornado kicks unfortunately will never ever land but glad his crowd enjoyed it.

Loved seeing him checking kicks coming off the injury… and those kicks against the second person in the clip that he sparred were crisp as hell… can’t wait for him to be back in the ring…
What I’ve noticed in Connor’s sparring footage’s, is that anyone who spars him looks timid to actually go hard and is afraid to clip him and embarrass him … just in my opinion
Anyone that goes hard against a counter striker is a mistake they’ve probably watched him spar against aggressive fighters he’s either knocked them spark out or put them down bad probably the reason why they’re timid he’s find those small spaces to catch them with shots even when they’re careful
people forget that Conor is a high level mixed martial artist and former champion still in his physical prime. Do you think gym sparring partners can actually pose a threat? It's not like he's sparring top 5 of the UFC
Looks good, happy he's throwing kicks and looks like he's working on checking thr low leg kicks, the competition has gotten so much better now, but hope he can still compete if he so chooses
Good leg checking. He is very sharp. Like I said before, don't like the things he did in the past but he can fight and has the motivation to keep grinding even tho he has all the money in the world. I can respect that. Can't wait to see him fight Chandler and hopefully he has improved his skills.
Guess incorporating more muay Thai was the only way to get around eating calf kicks all the time which fucked him up good against poirier.. Come to think of it, it's the logical thing to do... The bladed karate stance was really susceptible to calf kicks, so was the boxing stance heavy on the front foot. And since he already became more square with his boxing stance compared to the bladed stance, opening up even a bit more to a Thai stance in certain situations makes sense... He's not becoming a grappler, so protecting himself from too many low kicks can only come from checking or hip movement, especially now that he's not as fluid anymore... And teeping and roundhouse are already engrained in him anyway from his karate background, just smaller shifts from sidekick to front kick and hitting the roundhouse with the foot or the shin.
when was his last win though... underestimateling or just stating facts? He's not the Eddie Alvarez Conor at LW with his in and out darting style. He's bigger, stays in the same positions, waits for counters instead of driving the counters by feints and punches... he's simply a different version from when he won Gold. Nothing bad about it, it's not underestimating, it's just reality. Do not forget he broke his freaking tib so definitely changes mentally have occurred too...
Extremely high level fighter for 7 minutes, unfortunately against Poirier he couldn't even win the first round and he was more or less finished from the moment he got taken down toward the end of the round. At the time he's meant to be his most effective Poirier still beat him, over 3+ rounds he has nothing for the elites.
To the average person he will always be a high level fighter. To other high level fighters he’s about average he just hasn’t been in there enough through out the years
Respect that after he hit the oblique kick too hard he immediately says sorry and stops the round - some people will just hit you with shit like that feel Their ego and keep going
The guy hasn’t had a good performance in 5 years and people still think he’s going to come back and win the title in 3 different weight classes 😂😂😂 you can’t make this stuff up

Ever since he lost to Dustin the first time I've been doubtful on him being able to return and perform well but this is the first footage that is convincing to me that he's been training properly after all these years. He forgot about his bjj and his wrestling just like Usman the 2 of them became boxing oriented and were found out hard.

ngl connor is looking good his original style of being light on his feet and flexible with his kicks hopefully he maintains his seriousness to make another run for the belt . For those that havent practiced martial arts or combat sports when you dont train or fight for a considerable amount of time your muscles begin to lose their flexibility. I used to be able to do the full ass to ground splits and when i didnt train for 2 yrs i couldnt sit any lower than 100mm off the floor . My hamstrings had tightened up
Look man. He'll always still look good. In his prime he was one of the best strikers in the world. People love to shit on him but he was a beast. Hopefully he makes a comeback as its better for the sport. The sport needs Conor
You can clearly see he’s holding back. He doesn’t want to hurt the sparring partners, and is actually respectful of them. Too many people go into those sparring wars which aren’t good for anyone (of course there are times for hard spars). That’s why he’s not THAT fast… as with more speed usually comes more power/more chance to hurt someone. Not sure about you guys, but I’m hella excited to see him come back! He’s clearly having fun with it and is driven to come back and make it happen! We might see another legendary run!
Lol! Definitely holding back with those headkicks, a knee stomp/oblique kick and throwing hayemakers vs semi pros and dropping somebody with 16oz gloves on, those headkicks would drop you if you didn't block it. What is it with the cope in all the comments, just say the truth you don't need to lie. Only thing holding him back was the fatigue from rounds of sparring if we're going to be objective.
Your speed comment was just... moronic. What more do you want from him? Sprinting at the opponent? He was teep kicking, head kicking, body kicking, and throwing his left hand as quick as he could with 16oz gloves on and some fatigue.
@@Disinfo321 None of these guys are semi pros, you don't get flown out to Dubai for a training camp if you're just some guy. Also the only bad sparring etiquette was the oblique kick he apologised for. The headkicks were clearly pulled (not to mention he has shin pads on) and the only reason your man got dropped was because he threw a naked leg kick and dove into a straight punch with his chin in the air. Compared to the videos of other pros (Strickland, Cerrone...) actually flatlining guys at a local gym this is pretty damn tame.
I love Connor but it’s crazy. He doubled in size so quick.! I don’t know Martial arts I don’t know the bodybuilding area but shit in size fucking crazy man! He’s got to be a genius in this area I believe in him so it’s gotta be that!!
his ground level was actually pretty top notch for a striker - did surprisely well against khabib when most of his previous opponents got ragdolled on the ground by him. anyone will look like an ameteur when against a top level wrestler like khabib
Absolutely beautiful movement and interesting new elements and hybrid stance. I wish you the best brother and a glorious return, as the nice Connor. The mental games aren't needed anymore now just bring the pure heart and skill and artistry!
What do I know but I think the boxing stance doesn’t help is natural movement compared to when he had a side ways stance he looked a lot more fluid with the karate stance and another think I notice he doesn’t use his legs as much as he used to
Finally, walking the talk! He always talked big but always put in the work to back it up. People think he fell off since he took the Floyd fight but he still worked hard until his injury. It looks like he's finally getting serious after that sexual assault allegation a few months back. Hope he gets the comeback he and his fans deserve.
It's not about money tho it's about legacy, he's dreaming of one last run at the belt, probably the 170 strap to do what no one else has done before and then bounce
yeah and more active with his shots, in his recent fights he was not throwing that much to land all the shots while he just should throw just to throw sometimes you know
@@beko_bekovic Maybe because his WHOLE issue has been gassing after 7 minutes? Why do you think he beat (arguably) nate in the rematch? It's because he was a lot more reserved and "efficient with his energy". All these spinning kicks were useless here and have always been useless in all of his UFC fights and just gas him out.
@@Disinfo321 agreed. But not everyone is Nate Diaz tho. Mcgregor was successful against fighters with regular chins(not like Nate's) when he was active, threw more and also various
@@beko_bekovic Ok yes, I'll agree with you Mcgregor should come out and gas himself out throwing volume and spinning kicks which he made a conscious effort to stop doing, ok. And you're right everybody isn't Nate Diaz, which is why Mcgregor shouldn't throw volume like Nate Diaz. He's a counter striker and that's that.

@@combatsportsculture6469 Alex Pereira is HEAVY on his lead-leg yet it isn't a problem for him at all, now is it? Because that has nothing to do with it. As long as you are reacting to the low-kicks, plus reacting to them correctly that's the main thing. Be realistic, most fighters are front-foot forward fighters, very FEW humans can actually fight off of the back-foot. Yet, not all of them get obliterated by low-kicks so it's clearly not just about the stance or weight-balance. It is about your vision to see them coming, your timing to react to them in time, & your technique to react to them correctly, are the real determining factors above all else for defending low-kicks. You're just reserved because you seen McGregor get stopped by low-kicks before so of course you're naturally gonna assume the worst subconsciously & be looking for that weakness again moreso now, which is justified, I get it, but it's not the case because he has clearly adjusted to them & he already proved that in the 3rd Poirier fight, now he looks even sharper at reacting to low-kicks so i'm happy for him. I see great improvement here, not "holes" or weaknesses. He even baited a few of those low-kicks then countered them immediately so if his opponents underestimate his low-kick defense & take the bait then they might get KO'd in the process if they truly believe he's unprepared for low-kicks because he will counter them, as he is fully aware now unlike before. McGregor is a great counter-striker & he's great at setting fighters up, he's great at "playing the game" meaning he is great at letting you think you are doing well then blasting you up out of there with 1 big counterstrike, that's why he gets guys to go first and throw at him in the 1st place even when they know he is an aggressive counter-striker, because they think they are doing well plus they think they will land otherwise they would not take the bait if they knew it was bait but most fighters do not understand when they are being set-up. Period. These things matter way more than just your stance or weight-positioning. There is so much more nuance to this game. There is so much more beneath the surface. There is so much more beyond what the naked eye can visually see or perceive 💯 That's why the old saying goes "only believe HALF of what you see, and NONE of what you hear" 💯
@@Capital2x my man, good in depth assessment. I got to respectfully oppose you on the pereira example, it’s not a good comparison. Simply because they have vastly different styles, also Alex pereira does not fight front foot heavy. As I’m sure you probably know, he comes from a traditional kickboxing background, he stands pretty upright, light on his feet. What makes him so effective besides his obvious experience in kickboxing is the fact he doesn’t load up often. It’s very hard to see his kicks coming because he doesn’t tend to load up also he doesn’t turn his kicks over.. he makes this work so well for him because he has exceptional power, and very little telegraphing. Conor did not used to be so front foot heavy, that seemed to have changed after the Floyd fight (rightfully so) why? Because it’s very effective to fight this way in boxing. Because body position, head movement, and foot placement is so critical. Conor is clearly not as effective in mma with this style, and there’s a reason for it.. what made Conor so good was like you said his ability to counter guys, but not from lulling them or making them “feel safe.” It was his ability to time them… his perception of distance was second to none this combined with his feints and timing along with relentless pressure were what made him so good in his prime when he was running through everyone. Fighting heavy on your lead foot negates all this… you can’t be light on your feet you become “stuck in the mud” as he would say, you’re in a different position compromising your in and out footwork therefore compromising your distance/range management, leaving you no choice but to block, catch (or counter) (which can absolutely be effective if that’s your game, the more square kickboxing approach) but that’s not what made Conor great.. it was his ability to press forward, move in and out and use his exceptional perception of distance and timing to his advantage. That’s what he was so dam good at. Style wise Think like the difference between wonderboy and chito Vera… the wonderboy in and out style just suited Conor better… it complimented his attributes and maximized their advantage. Now absolutely NOT to say he can’t move forward and adapt to this style and find success with it and make it work… it’s just a head scratcher because it’s almost like he’s trying to adjust his mma style to adapt to his time in boxing. When what he was doing in mma was working so well, he didn’t need to make any changes aside from just getting better at grappling. His stand up needed no adjustments. Of course this my opinion based off of my own knowledge. So there’s of course room for debate, everyone’s going to have their own opinion. And I don’t mind having knowledgeable discussion about it with people such as yourself, who know what they’re looking at, let alone talking about. It’s interesting to hear other insights and opinions. Thankyou for your response 💯
