Tijdens de voorbereiding van het orgel/piano concert bij Johannus-orgelbouw, georganiseerd door de Bond tegen vloeken, speelde Gert op het einde nog even spontaan een improvisatie.
Dat werd dus Conquest of Paradise.
Gelukkig liep de camera nog om het vast te leggen.

All of this music is in his head, not a single note off of the sheet music before him. Gert is an exceptional organist, the best I have heard in a very long time.

Vangelis’ music is often categorized as New Age or Synthesizer, but essentially it’s Classical Cross-over, so this organ improvisation works well. Great mastery of the organ!

His improvisations are awesome. I came across van Hoef as a recommended video, and now I'm subscribed to his channel and totally sold on his talent. Truly amazing. And this organ! Wow! such a rich tone, with what seems to be an almost infinite (excuse the hyperbole) registration combination.

When I was like five, I heard this piece in an airplane video and ever since then I've been trying to find it. Then I stumbled upon this unknowingly and then at 0:54, I was like "THAT'S IT!!! IT"S THE PIECE IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR YEARS!!!" And I've watched it probably 50 times since then!

Deutsch/German: Super, genial!!! Ich habe selber viele Jahre Orgel u.a. gespielt, aber musste leider aus gesundheitlichen Gründen aufhören. Wenn ich dies hier höre, überkommt mich wieder die Sehnsucht. Großes Lob und auch weiterhin viel Freude am Orgelspiel wünsche ich.
