I thought this scene was so well acted by Gavin. You can see him hold back his tears when he says that if she still wants to be with Conrad he will back off and let them be. Really strong emotions there and made me really feel for Jeremiah
Chris and Gavin were so good in this scene. I wasn’t thinking about who should be with belly but I was more grateful that the brothers were building back their relationship. They kept the promise they would talk even if it hurts the other person. I don’t want them fighting anymore especially over belly.
When I first watched this scene on the part where Jeremiah started to tear up I started tearing up too 😭❤ he loves her so much!! I’ve never been so jealous of a fictional character in my life lol Belly you don’t deserve him he belongs with me, I’ll never break his heart.

For the people who are claiming that Jeremiah is the devil incarnate and are saying wait till season 3 you'll see his true colors I'm just gonna post what Tv Tropes Wrote. Ron the Death Eater: Belly/Conrad shippers treat Jeremiah like this due to him being the competition for Belly's affections. They claim he is abusive and manipulative and that his every move is a calculated effort to harm Conrad or Belly, while nothing in canon supports this.
Both the brothers deserve bwtter. Conrad deswrves someone who loves him rhough his bad and good times, not just his best moments but also his worse where hw shuts off. Jeremiah deserves someone who truly loves him, does not treat him like a replacement, second choice. Someone who sees him as the best man he is.
Seriously, I think all of the hate with jeremiah from bonrad shipper is just because they see more chemistry between Conrad and belly AND NOTHING MORE. They're just finding a way to justify Conrad and find a hole in Jeremiah's personality. Because in real life who wanted to be with someone who cannot communicate clearly 🤷🏻♀️
i honestly don’t understand the hate jeremiah gets. he’s literally putting his own feelings aside even after conrad was being an ass to them because he wants belly and conrad to be happy and you can tell how emotional he gets because of how much he loves belly but is willing to let her go. he’s literally the most mature out of the three of them this season BY FAR

I don’t know what’s wrong with this fandom either. I read the books but the show just validates that I’m team Jeremiah. I mean the fact he asked Conrad TWICE. And yes he would step back if both Conrad and Belly still has feelings . And to me this is the problem with Conrad, he’s not being truthful to Anyone inc himself and that just causes heartbreak for everyone involved. To me this scene is very pivotal to the entire series.
After he shot the firework, I couldn't like him. He saw Belly and Conrad almost kiss so he knew they had feelings but still got mad when they acted on it. His anger towards Belly was valid but he also knew she always loved Conrad. But I do hope he has a better ending and is with someone better at the end of s3
It seems like Belly was always infatuated with Conrad, obsessed with the idea of wanting what she couldn’t have at the time. I’ll admit I liked Conrad in season one and had a lot empathy for what he was going through. It feels like he still hasn’t learned that bottling things up, not letting anyone in, trying to “handle” (aka stuff down) everything on his own, and acting like a jerk aren’t good moves…for him or for anyone else. I agree with what @Fubbleretln said. A big part of growing up, maturing and becoming a healthier, wiser person is realizing that drama isn’t a part of a healthy relationship. Jeremiah has been honest with her through the whole season and has tried to put up a boundary to protect his heart while also being vulnerable with her about how he feels. That’s super attractive. He also seems to be the most emotionally mature and healthy person of the three. I feel for Conrad but he hasn’t shown a lot of growth or maturity. He cares for Belly but I feel like he really likes the idea that she’s always going to be his and takes it (and her) for granted. Jeremiah having and initiating this talk with Conrad, even though it’s deeply painful for him to think about losing Belly again, shows emotional maturity and a desire to know where he stands with Belly once she has all of the information. He wants her happiness above his own. He wants his brother’s happiness above his own. Conrad hasn’t been especially great at being there for Jeremiah or thinking of how his brother feels about things (whether it’s belly or Jeremiah being there day in and day out during his senior year to care for his mom). I know how the book series goes and I’m hopeful Jenny Han doesn’t shift Jeremiah’s character in this show because it’s so out of character for him to do what he does in the book. I love Belly and Jeremiah together and their chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥
am I the only one who feels Belly deserves the same amount of backlash both brothers get? she hops between 2 brothers and toys with their feelings and gets a slap on the wrist meanwhile Conrad and Jere are made out to be the villains. the funeral scene really made me dislike Belly's character, girl really made a whole funeral about herself. ngl book 2 was hard to get through bc Belly's character was so damn unbearable. imo both brothers deserve better!

Each person is different, we can't blame him just because he can't express his feelings like Jeremiah. He had difficult time too and sometimes words fail to express all he wanted to say
and then Conrad did for Jere, what Jere said he'd do for him if Belly had picked Conrad. Conrad lied and told Belly he was over her and made her let him go and let go any hope of him so that she would have want she wanted and Jere would have what he wanted.
Love Jeremiah infinitely the better brother and the most emotionally intelligent and mature of the Three. Team Jeremiah all the way season 3 better not ruin his character.

I wish we had gotten an episode narrated by Conrad… it would have been so good. But I guess they had to lead up to that finale of Jer and Belly. I still believe because Conrad is very in his head, it would be more interesting for the story, if we got a glimpse into how he’s dealing. Just imagine if that last episode was narrated by Conrad, it would do his character justice for his behavior this season. It’s like how we did not know he knew about his mother’s cancer last season until he let his guard down with Cleveland

I read all three books, and unfortunately jeremiah’s character goes down hill in book 3. BUT THEY CANNOT, CANNOT. LET HIS CHARACTER GO DOWN HILL THIS TIME AROUND SIMPLY DUE TO THE FACT GAVIN IS KILLING HIS ROLE HERE IN THIS SCENE ALONE!!!! I am on no one’s side anymore since both characters are developing and have issues and problems in their own right, but it would be absolutely unacceptable if tv series Jeremiah went downhill because WHY BUILD HIM UP SO GOOD HERE JUST TO THROW IT ALL AWAY A SECOND TIME. The show is gonna get BIG BACKLASH if it follows the book imo because that is simply not who his character is here. I mean LOOK at how emotionally mature and vulnerable jere is willing to be in the show. If the show follows his book character through to the end, that would be a real real shame. To me, Jeremiah in the books vs the series are now two different entities and I would be more than satisfied if the show got its own original ending.
Jeremiah is easily the most mature emotionally available character of this entire season. I will never understand the hatred that he gets. This is why I'll always root for his happiness with or without Belly
He doesn't bc he still know deep down he can't give her what she needs right now. He is again taking himself out which is good for now. He needs to get way to grow an heal. I feel like this will be a dicsussion point in s3 though. I feel like Jere will find out at some point Conrad never told her and will starting questioning their relationship. Just a guess.
I get them tbh Jeremiah loved belly for a long time but didn’t do anything because he knew belly was all in on Conrad so he stepped aside but when Conrad wasn’t there belly saw that Jeremiah was there more then Conrad but Conrad loves belly but he didn’t think he was worthy of her so he let her go and didn’t want to hurt his own brother 😭

and that's why you are saying this. Because you ship bonrad and are biased. Otherwise you couldve admitt that book3 jere was an assassination of his character just for the sake of the bonrad endgame and it didnt make sense. Cause Jenny couldve make them endgame without ruining Jere but She actually said that She made him too perfect and needed a reason for people to hate him, since She changed the endgame last minute. But go on i guess, i read all the books and still thinks Jeremiah Is Better than bookCon who was actually the worst (notice i said bookCon cause Jenny changed him a lot in the show and even i can't dislike him as much in the show, cause he's actually more human and Easy to empathize with than in the books where he was just an as*hole)

as much as i dislike belly about this this brothers are just i think it's really disgusting both of them should just back off, she cant just jump from one of them to the other one and say "it's always been him" and then went back to the first one again in frotn of the other one both of them think she loves the other one so maybe dont start anything with her??
This scene really broke my heart. They were finally getting along again and starting to get on good terms after their talk on the beach and now theay almost can't look each other in the eye. They are both willing to let Belly go, Jere says it here and Conrads proofs so too, as he doesn't confess to Belly, he steps aside. Belly acting the entire time like she didn't do anything wrong and completely ingroring their feelings. She just wants to find out what's best for her. I am team Conrad, but this broke me. Now after this episode I want Conrad to get away, to grow and to heal. I want Belly to do the same and then hopefully they can find their way back to each other.
