It in fact is God caught on camera. As soon as the words of consecration, “Hoc est enim Corpus Meum” is said , the host transubstantiates and becomes the body, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ, who is God.

This is how the Mass should be. The Mass is a holy sacrifice and not a celebration.

Bob nagel I know after seeing what the Latin mass looks like I think so too. It’s sad many Catholic Churches are almost Protestant. They like their bands and the other day when I was at mass and our priest was preparing for Eucharist I felt like I was at a circus when they had this group having a sing along with they drums and over done singing...

Hi, can you help me here? I don't understand why the prayer of consecration is said in a whisper? Is that how it was done before the 16th century codifying of the Mass? Thank you, from an Anglican, who loves liturgy.
@frankielogue8173
@frankielogue8173 6 лет назад
It was always done like this in the West, yes. It was done so because this is the most mysterious and Sacred part of the Holy Mass.
@fire5736
@fire5736 5 лет назад
@@johnking5174 as an Anglican myself, I feel that the best way to explain it is because the priest (or bishop) is acting as a mediator between God and man, and speaks to God on our behalf. There's a Catholic parish near me where I attend sometimes and I've noticed one of the priests there has recently said the prayer of consecration in a lower voice than normal (though still audible). Mind you I have attended the Latin Mass a number of times simply because the reverence is so unlike what we have at my Anglican parish, even thinking of moving to another one nearby but that's a whole different matter.
@charliedoyle980
@charliedoyle980 4 года назад
@@johnking5174 I know there was a specific Pope, but I also think it was more, that would have a "curtain" brought around the altar front that blocked him, the altar, and deacons from being seen or heard during the Roman Canon. Once it was finished, the "curtain" would be removed and the Mass would continue as normal. This is to invoke the imagery of the Jewish Priests (Levitical Priests) going into the Holy of Holies in the Temple in Jerusalem to over sacrifice and prayer to God. Today, the priest is to use a whisper, because of this and because he is acting "In Persona Christi" and being the direct mediator between the people and God.

If the Holy mass is said in Latin it is Catholic and Catholic Holy mass is partly founded on the blood of the Roman martyrs of the early Church. St Peter and the rest of them . Remember the Church is the bride of Christ and speakes in Latin language , born martyred in Mediterranean Rome and spread its faith throughout the world. 12 apostles, 29 successive pope's, and countless children , men, women , all of whom Christ the Lord called his Children when the mad pagan Roman emperor Nero fed them to the Lions and Peter went back to die with them .

The Tridentine Latin Mass is a beautiful liturgy, and all who desire it, should be permitted to have it. At the same time is not essential, either in the Roman Rite or in the other rites that a part of the universal Catholic church. For example, the Ukrainian Catholic (Byzantine) Rite has never used it, following the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. It should also be remembered that the devotion and attentiveness of those attending the liturgy are important too. One reason for the bells was to wake up the congregation and let them know the priest had reached an important part of the Mass.

I think all the faithful, clergy and laity, need a renewal in understanding and reverence for the liturgy. New guidelines, etc. The New Latin Rite of the mass we have today is absolutely beautiful, even restoring and incorporating traditions from old and from the Eastern Catholic rites, and accommodating local Catholic traditions around the world. If it we're celebrated more reverently, we would be able to love God more fervently. And we would avoid the problems the Church had for centuries with the Tridentine mass and its culture.

@@ipso-kk3ft sorry my brother, but I can say that is naive idea. I personally think that the idea of new mass wasn't a bad idea at all. We need vernacular too. But, the new mass we have today, unfortunately for me personally, is lack of "rigidity". Why? Because as a layman, I never see any instruction from the Holy See to celebrate it in a reverent way. What I only see are just the instructions that are not "forcing" the presbyters to celebrate it in the very-very-very-very reverent way. But correct me if I'm wrong.

@@paxdomini9714 the Roman rite was born in the IV a.c. and it wasn't the tridentine... It has iconostasios for example. Then they were changes, the tridentine was one of these changes and the one made by the pope Giovani XXIII the last one. Tridentine mass just has five centuries.

the roman rite never had an iconostasis. iconostasis was a development from the original curtains which surrounded the basilica altar. the curtain was replaced by a rood screen in the 7th and 8th century which later was decorated with icons in the late medieval era byzantine rite in 10th century. this development never happened in the western church. only in england and north scandinavia they had rood screens in many churches. and the roman rite is the same from tridentine to at least early medieval era under pope Gregory I in its prayer structure exept for the agnus dei which was added by the syrian pope sergius I in the late 7th century. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UTSJ7LqZLYQ.html like this is the medieval mass in sweden and its the same as the tridentine mass.
