I'm a Fundamental Baptist and I believe in Royalty and Divine Right of the King that is loyal to the principles and values of the God and the Bible.

Things may have changed until her time, wich is hopefully still far away so she can grow and (if she wants) raise a family without the burden of the throne at the same time… And the Norwegian Monarch is no longer the Head of the Church of Norway (wich Harald was in 1991) so it is not a given that we will see this ceremony again…. Only time will tell

The title of the husband of a Queen Regnant depends on the tradition of the country. In three European monarchies, Scotland, Spain and Portugal, the husband of a Queen Regnant held the title of King. The last King Consort was King Francis of Spain who died in 1902 and was the husband of Queen Isabella II. When there is a King Consort the couple are referred to as the Queen and King, rather than King and Queen, to emphasise that the Queen is the monarch.

Mary (Tudor) I of England made her husband Phillip II of Spain King of England too, at least in name. But his English title extinguished on her death. Of course he was a King already. Mary II and William III were joint reigning sovereigns.

The recessional hymn is ”Dette er dagen som Herren har gjort” (this is the day that the lord has created)…. Just like the Processional hymn it was written specifically for this ceremony, and is nowdays a part of the norwegian hymnbook.

Ok I get it that "power" comes from the people and not God in this secular world. But if people hold these beliefs then why have a Monarchy ? Just have a President or Prime Minister ?

@@texasborn2720 The coronation is actually something that is a lot newer than the monarchy itself, and most of the time throughout the history it's only been a complimentary ceremony, to show that the monarch had the support of the church, but it has never been the ceremony that officially make you king. Today we have the swearing in ceremony in the parliament. In medieval times a king had to be elected by a regional assembly. The coronation just came in addition to this, and it might have been extremely important back when we were catholic. After the reformation it sort of lost some of its value, as the king is above the church anyway.

@@ruralor Interesting. Thank you. But I notice Queen Elisabeth wears her crown at the opening of parliament. Not recent I notice. I think it is because she is much older now. And the crown is actually quite heavy ? But I wonder if future King Charles and William for forgo wearing the crown like other European monarchs ?

@@texasborn2720 There are different traditions in different countries, I guess. I too have noticed that they in the United Kingdom always bring the crown as well as the septer to the opening of parliament. Not really sure why, as these items has nothing to do with the parliament per se, but I guess it was brought there some time in history as a way to demonstrate power. We never had this tradition. The crown was used for coronation only.

@@ruralor it shows the monarch's authority and presence in the House of Lords but as we all know, the monarch has to await the House of Commons coming to her to hear her speech. The Coronation ceremony in Britain is over 1000 years old and the format for it is documented in a 1000 year old book at Westminster Cathedral. I have never seen the Norwegian consecration ceremony before, but while it is not a formal Coronation, it is still a solemn ceremony. There is also a swearing in ceremony.

I rather agree, although the term is "crown" in English. Of course, it might be for convenience. St. Edward's Crown had to be expanded to fit King Charles III, having been narrowed in 1911 for his great-grandfather George V. But if you've got a Kung and you've got a crown it seems an iconoclastic oxymoron not to stick the latter on the former.

Vet ikke om jeg er litt inhabil, som trønder, men jeg synes det hele blir ennå mer storslått og nasjonalromantisk med de ærverdige bygningene i Trondheim. Stiftsgården, trehusa oppover gata, statuen på torget og Nidarosdomen i praktfull gotisk stil. Karl-Johan i Oslo er jo praktfult det også, men det blir ikke like 'særpreget', hvis du skjønner, med sånne ny-klassiske bygg som du finner alle steder.
