In this clip, Consequence reflected back on the events leading up to his work on "The Black Album" by Jay-Z. The NYC-based rapper explained how he got the opportunity co-write the chorus of "Encore" with Kanye West, who bought him his first Rolex watch. As the talk moved along, he talked about why he's remained so loyal to Kanye before explaining why he didn't always to see to eye with DJ Vlad in the past, regarding an interview with VladTV.
In this clip, Vlad started off speaking to Consequence about working with Kanye on Jay-Z’s “Encore” off of “The Black Album,” which went triple platinum. From there, Consequence talked about working on Lil Kim’s “La Bella Mafia” album before that with Kanye on the track “Came Back for You.” Consequence revealed that he helped with the hook, which was the same set-up with Jay-Z’s track, and he went on to speak about how they were building trust together. From there, Consequence spoke about his trust being shaken after working with A Tribe Called Quest on “The Chase, Part II,” only to be working security two years later. Moving along, Consequence went on to speak about the moments leading up to “The College Dropout,” which led to him speaking about being disappointed in moments left out of the “jeen-yuhs” documentary. This led to Consequence speaking about not wanting to work as a retail security guard, and wanting to shift into making music. He then spoke about putting out his first mixtape, which Consequence revealed Kanye funded. This led to Consequence speaking about working on Kanye’s “Through the Wire” and “Slow Jams,” which you can hear more about above.
