As always, thank you so much for sharing your experience and giving such awesome tips. On a side note that Consew 389RB-2 you sent to Oregon a while back, is still working awesome.

Have the 228 R-11, same machine, no walking 🦶. Roller wheel instead. Strong up to medium-heavy. Shoe repair on uppers. Canvas & light leather Bag maker. Great machine. Also known as the wig machine when equipped with the ball base.

I'm sitting here sewing repairs on a motorcycle popup camper with a 111w153. I saw your other video on locking stitches several years ago

That is a good machine. A classic. I guess I will have to add motorcycle popup camper to the list of uses for the 111w153s.😃

I've got a Pfaff 491 heavyweight industrial machine that I was given. It has a roller foot rather than a walking foot and was originally used for boot making. I'm probably going to be giving it it's first trial on some repair work on a judo-gi. It's going to be a bit of a learning curve; I'm used to domestic machines rather than industrial and I've never used something like this.

Have fun with it. I learned on home sewing machines, it transfers in a helpful way.

Lock Stitch: Depends on what I'm sewing. I do what you demonstrated, but sometimes I'll put the material in ahead of where I want to begin, then do a few REVERSE stitches, let go of reverse and continue forward.

Hey Alex what thread do you recommend for stitching automotive or marine vinyl. I have been using v92 but maybe it would be better if I used 138...My machine wont pull 277. No real information out there on this But I know you have done several types of applications. wondering what you like to use for what. Might be a good video as well. Types of thread for applications that you like to use. And of course I saw your video on setting up a machine.....I noticed you have each machine setup for what thread you use, so you dont have to set the tension every time you change thread type.
@AlexanderDyer
@AlexanderDyer Год назад
Have you seen @Cechaflo. Definitely a good source for upholstery. Not sure if thread has been covered but it seems like an active channel and maybe they would answer you question. I just don't have any experience in the matter. Thread is a big, big topic. My go to thread is tex 105 core spun poly from California Thread www.calthread.com/category-s/180.htm

@@AlexanderDyer Oh yea 105....most of the upholstery guys say v92 which is what I am using. but it looks small on some pleats. Definitely too small for flat stitch. I dont have a guide for that anyway. Would be cool to see what you like to use. and what sizes you use for what products. Just your opinion. Thread sizes tension and what machines like what. What do you think of the Consew 1206rb....is it a cheaper version of the 206? I am using a REX 26-188 which I have had to weld attachments to welt with and it just does not work the greatest for upholstery. When welting it does not lift quite high enough. I have the presser foot all the way up.
