Such a great universal industrial machine for garment sewing. I have a singer 591 that’s looks like the same machine almost. It’s my go-to for common stuff like jeans and purses. I have bigger machines for leather and super thick material but really love the smooth action on these
While I think I agree with your general sentiment I would say Not always. Japan is widely accepted as having excellent engineering and quality control. I like Japanese machines very much. China is a very BIG country and it is full of many manufacturers, some are not good and others are. China is getting better as time goes by and I have noticed that some of the machines from China are quite good. Did you know that Apple iPhones are manufactured in China?
It's now 2023..I'd buy china without question due to China having highly skilled workers, access to high end precision cutting machinery and the needed raw materials, along with the competitive market yeidling a competitive pricing for the general retail consumer too. Yah I'd buy China made and use the difference saved to be re-invested for later fun.
Hi! Could you make a short video on how to thread this machine consew 230? I just bought it and it comes with no manual of course. I can’t find anything on the web. Thanks!!
Yes, this is an automatic oiling machine, because I was in the middle of servicing this machine and waiting for oil to be delivered it was empty during the video. There should be enough oil in the pan for the oil pump to operate and many times the level is indicated in the oil pan.
I believe this is similar to the Sunco Model 101, which I have been trying to find a manual on for my wife. Would you happen to have leads for a manual?
Do you have a supplier for different feet for your Consew 230? I'm looking for a double welt foot. Some websites state their double welt foot fits multiple machines. Just wondering if I need a Consew specific foot. Thank you!
I would like to get in touch with you! I need to replace an industrial I gave away because void a cross country move! I’d like to buy a machine like this from you!
Get the Needle System from the video description. Buy the appropriate size based on desired thread size. I buy my needle on eBay. I like tex 105 spun polyester from bit.ly/CThreadS Here is a chart to help with Thread/Needle matching tolindsewmach.com/thread-chart.html
I don't have an opinion as to what brand is better. I have used them all and they just work so I am agnostic in terms of brand loyalty. As to which size is best. That is determined by your project and what size thread you intend to use. Your needle and thread should match. Check out this chart. tolindsewmach.com/thread-chart.html
is it worth buying it 3rd hand without knowing the history of who worked with it? does the machine parts are custom and easy to buy online? is it good for army use (cordura fabrics, webbings, intensity, lots layer etc) or just for garment industry?
Hi there, could the Consew 230 sew with v138 thread and a 140/#22 needle. I plan to sew 360 gsm polyurethane coated 1000D Nylon to fabricated a hovercraft skirt.
The Consew 230 has a single feed mechanism; drop feed, ideally suited for clothing and similar textiles. In general sewing leather requires better feeding mechanisms. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sBavkfataiM.html
Aloha Alexander ;o) Do you know where I can purchase replacement rubber bushings that the machine sets on? I just got my used machine and those need to be replaced so I can get the bobbin cover open
Hello. I have a model 230 that I picked up 6 years ago for $80.00. Seems to be in good shape. One question I have is what type and how much oil des it need? Thanks.
I'm interested in getting an industrial walking foot machine, but one of the tasks I'll need to do is sew through up to 4 layers of veg tan leather. Would these machines be able to handle that, or should I go bigger, like the Cobra machines or Cowboy machines?
This is not a walking foot machine. Cobra and Cowboy machines are good, they are "branded" machines out of China and very similar to Mitsubishi and Highlead to name a couple. There are also USA, German and Japanese machines that will do a good job too. Veg. tanned leather projects often require a cylinder bed as well. Search on the leatherworker.net site, there is a ton of information about leather sewing machines to help and educate yourself so that you can make an informed decision.
That is just an older style. If it is in good condition it should do leather and vinyl projects up to about 3/8". There is a manual on the Consew site. www.consew.com/files/112347/InstructionManuals/225.pdf
You want to make sure there is enough oil that the oil pump is fully submerged and the oil wicks that hang down are also in the oil. Too much and it will overflow when you place the machine down. If you have enough oil then you should see it pump up into the window when operating at high speed.
