Thank you for the explanation sir. From this video I get that : Place of Articulation is how organ of speech management our articulation. There 8 types : 1. Bilabial 2. Labiodental 3. Interdental 4. Alveolar 5. Palatal 6. Velar 7. Post-Alveolar 8. Global And Manner of Articulation is the way we mannage our articulation. There are several types of manner : 1. Stop consonant 2. Fricative 3. Affricate 4. Nasal 5. Lateral 6. Semi - Vowel
Thank you for the explanation, sir. From this video I know that the place of articulation is divided into several parts including bilabial consonants, labiodental consonants, interdental consonants, alveolar consonants, palatal consonants, post alveolar consonants, velar consonants, and glottal consonants. The articulator name taken from passive. I also learned that the way we manage air passage is called the manner of articulation which is also divided into several parts: stop consonant, fricative, affricative, nasal, lateral and semivowel. This video helps me know how to pronounce words in English properly.
Thank you for your explanation Sir from this video I can understand that there are 8 types from place of articulation such as Bilabial, labiodental, Interdental, Alveolar consonants etc. Meanwhile, there are 6 types from manner of articulation such as Stop consonants, fricative, affricative etc. Place of articulation is based on how our organ of speech manage the articulation and manner of articulation is how we manage the articulation.
Thank you for the explanation, Sir. This video really help me a lot to pronounce the consonants well. Also the table you attached is very useful for me to practice the pronounciation of the consonant and to classify it.
Thank you for the full material, sir. This video explains a full details regarding consonants place and manner of articulation, along with the help of diagrams and tables provided for me to understand.
Thanks for your explanation, sir. I discovered how consonants are categorized based on where and how they are pronounced . The term "place of articulation" refers to the location of vocal tract obstruction and the manner used to categorize sounds according to how the air route is managed when producing consonants. This is important to study because we learn on how sounds were made and how to pronounce words properly and clearly. Thank you , sir.
Thank you for the explanation sir, I just understood that place and manner of articulation are very influential in producing good and correct consonant pronunciation, I will practice it properly.
Thank you for explanation sir. From this video i can understand about, Bilabial Consonants, Labiodental, dental, alveolar, post-alveolar, palatal, velar, glottal consonants. Thank you Sir🙏
Thank you for your explanation, Sir. From this video, I know that the place of articulation is important in pronunciation, because we must know where to produce sounds in order to pronounce them correctly.
Thank you for the explanation sir, your video is understandable and i can understand to each of this material sir🙏 and the problem that i had can be solved🙏
Thank you for your explanation sir, from this video I know Consonants Place and manner of articulation and how to pronounce a letter correctly in English. For now I don't have any questions. Thank you sir.
Thanks for the great explanation, sir. In the video I get a few things..starting from the place of articulation and can also know 8 types of consonants 1. Bilabial consonants 2. Labiodental consonants 3. Dental consonants 4. Alveolar consonants 5. Post-alveolar consonant 6. Palatal consonants 7. Velar consonants 8. Glottal consonants And also I know about the manner of articulation in this video. Thank you sir🙏🏻
Thank you for the explanation, Sir 🙏🏻 From this video I understand that the act of blocking the airways must really pay attention to the way and location of the organs in order to produce the right consonants as well. and in the future I will continue to improve the way and as much as possible continue to practice it, so that the sound produced is precise and clear.
After I watch this video I know, There are eight types of consonants based of articulation the are bilabial, labiodental, dental, alveolar, Post alveolar, palatal, velar and glottal consonants. Thanks for very good explanation sir, it really helped me in understanding this material.
thank you sir for your explanation. after I watch this video, I can get the point how to pronounce consonants based on place and manner of articulation.I know how to pronounce well
Thank you for your explanation, sir. What I got from this video that there are The Place of Articulation: bilabial consonants, labiodental, dental, alveolar, post alveolar, palatal, velar and glottal consonants. And then, there are The Manner of Articulation: stop or plosive, fricative, nasal, lateral and semi vowel. What I understand from difference of both are the place of articulation is the place where we articulate, for example is teeth. Then, Manner of articulation means the way/ how we articulates. Thats all from me sir, thank you.
Thanks for the explanation sir. I really enjoyed the video. I remember that one time I had trouble to pronouncing "r" because my tongue felt stiff, it's make me practice a lot to say it clearly.
Thankyou for the explanation sir.. I got the information abouy the place of articulation such as bilabial consonants, labiodental. Then the manner of articulation such as stop or plosive, fricative, nasal, lateral, and semi vowel, And manner is a way we articulate it.
Great presentation. I now understand the classification of consonants based on place and manner of articulation. Nevertheless, I also need more explanation about the table of the consonants. Thank you.
The table I provided in the video was the summary of the materials on place and manner of articulation. The table also shows the interaction between place and manner of articulation. Therefore, you can see that some of the consonants have the same place of articulation, but they are different based on manner of articulation, or vice versa.
Your explanation was appreciated, sir. Based on where and how they are uttered, I learned how consonants are divided into several categories. The phrase "place of articulation" refers to the site of a vocal tract obstruction and the method of classifying sounds based on how the air route is controlled when creating consonants. Studying this is crucial since it teaches us how sounds are produced as well as accurate and crystal-clear word pronunciation. - Khaira Fadhlika Ramadhani 21019014
hello sir, thankyou for your explanation, from this video we can know that, there are some place of articulation, we also know how to produce sound of consonant, for example in bilabial consonants the sound produce when our lower lips touch the upper lips.
The key point is that place of articulation is the classification of consonants based on the speech organs involved in producing consonants, while manner of articulation is the classification of consonants based on the air passage management.
hello sir, thank you for your explanation about consonants. this video helps me to know more about consonants, but sir, How do we determine if the consonant is voiced or voiceless? thank you, sir🙏🏻
Consonants are voiced when there is vibration in the vocal cords in their production. Consonants are voiceless when there is no vibration in the vocal cords in their production.
Thank you sir, from this video i know about types of consonant and vowels, and sorry sir i don't understand about labiodental consonants (sorry sir saya baru bertanya sekarang 🙏)
Thanks for the explanation sir. I want to ask a question. This is a bit out of context but still has to do with place and manner of articulation. I don't think all these places and ways of articulation exist in every language. For example, the Thai language which in my opinion does not really use all parts of the place of manner. Because if I hear Thai most of what I hear is the sound of the nose. Rarely do I listen to them using throat sounds and so on. (Sorry that I'm just asking a question now sir. I really sorry.)
Thank you for your explanation, sir. Based on your explanation I learn about consonants there are 2: 1. The place of articulation is based on our organ of speech. 2. Manner of articulation is the management of air passage. Enda Heriska-21019038
Sounds are produced by involving both place and manner of articulation. In other words, we cannot produce any sound by paying attention only place of articulation or manner of articulation. Place of articulation defines the organs of speech involved in sound production, while manner of articulation defines the management of air passage corresponding to the speech organs involved.
Thank you for the explanation sir, through this video i hope that i can master every element in the consonant place and manner of articulation. But while studying this material, i have a question sir. as we know that the way of speaking and sound produced in each accent in English are different, does it mean that the consonant place and manner of articulation in each accent are also different sir?
The difference between English dialects is not in the level of articulatory phonetics, but it is found in a phonemic level. The difference is indicated by the phonological processes and rules applicable in each dialect of English.
thank you for the explanation sir, I already understand about consonant place and manner of articulation, so my question is Why is it important to practice the manner of articulation?
Manner of articulation also plays an important role in determining which consonant sounds are produced. Without our management over the air passage, we cannot produce specific consonants.
Halo, sir! Nice to watch this video because it is really clear and helpful for me to understand... I mention consonant [f] and [v], they are in the same place but [v] has a vibration, isn't it sir? Thank you sir
The explanation was very easy to understand sir. But i have some trouble with my post-alveolar consonants, especially for "r". When I talking to fast, sometimes my "r" pronounce doesn't goes very well, could you give me some tips for this problem sir? 🙏
Hello, Sir. Thank you very much for your great explanation. I want to ask but I think my question is just to make sure is it right or not. So in semi vowel, we do lightly blocking the air passage. Is lightly blocking process is not that strong? It means, we only need small pressure to do it right? Thank you, Sir :)
Thanks for your explanation, sir. I am sorry for my late respond sir. Actually sometimes I have a problem with R in the end of word when I talked in English. Example in Word Slower sir. Sometimes I read it " Slowe" I did not realize. Is it okay sir? or do you have tips for me? So people can understand what word that i tried to pronouce.
When you have a problem of pronouncing [r] in the final syllable, it will not be a problem. Especially in less [r] English dialect, the sound [r] in the final syllable is omitted. But, you will have a problem when it is located in the initial syllable.
Thank you for your explanation sir. Now I can be more understand about this week's materials. But i wanna ask.. For yesterday's meet, I have told that I'm difficult in spelling [r], then I try harder to vibrate the tongue but it still can't. Is it needs so much time to practice or is it okay if I can't spell [r] well even if I've tried? Because sometimes I can spell that properly, it's just according to how much I got oxygen. Then I just semi-can not spell it. Thank you sir.
It shows that you are not completely unable to pronounce [r] correctly. It is only a matter of practice. I believe the more frequently you practice the more your ability improves to pronounce it.
Dental consonants are characterized by placing the tip of the tongue between the upper and lower lips, and the air is let go through narrow oral cavity.
Assalamualaikum Sir.. thank you for your explanation 🙏 Sir, I want to ask.. as we discussed last week, the person that cannot said consonants/other words properly can be fixed. How to fix it? is there any particular practice? and usually how long their muscular(?) can say something properly again? thank you Sir..
It can be trained by properly placing the articulators involved in producing a certain consonant. The time needed to fix such inaccuracy depends on the frequent practice. The more you practice the shorter time you need to fix it. So, please do the training based on the predetermined theory of consonant production that we have learned. Morning (after you get up) is the best time to practice.
Thank you for the good explanation sir. I asked about the correct "ch" sound in the words technology and architecture. My English teacher in high school said that the "ch" in that words sounds like "خ" in Arabic, is that true, sir? or is the correct [k] in velar consonants? Thank you sir.
Thank you for your explanation, sir, this video gives me an idea of how to pronounce a consonant by place of articulations and how to passage the air when pronouncing a consonant by manner of articulations, even though it's difficult at first, I'll try to improve - Muhammad Abdurrosyid Dzakhwan (21019015)
In producing affricates, the air is completely blocked by using the body and root of your tongue. Then you release the blockage slowly until the air can go through your narrowed oral cavity.
Palato-alveolar is the other name for post-alveolar. It's called palatoalveolar since the tip or blade of the tongue touches the area between the alveolar ridge and hard palate.
permission to ask sir.. in the alvolar consonant sir there is [S], is it possible for people who can't pronounce the letter [S], Is the pronunciation correct? Thank you sir🙏
Yes, I've found few people unable to pronounce [s] correctly. The only way to make it correct is by placing the organs of speech in a proper place of articulation and managing the air passage correctly.
Consonants are sounds which are produced by the presence of blockage in the air passage. Consonants are identified based on the place and manner of articulation.
