I just realized. The other guy was supposed to be an allied psyker, but turned out to be a cultist. He prolonged his suffering on purpose to open him up to the will of choas. He kept telling the inquisition he knew something he didn't, escalating the torture well past the point an inquisitor would have just shot him for innocence or noncompliance.

This is my understanding of the plot so far: A laborer on an Imperial world is working a back breaking, thankless job in the Imperial war machine. He hates it but his lover and friends make it all worth it and he maintains his faith. Then the Imperial authorities, working on false information, conclude that the worker is a dangerous cult leader. They capture him and kill everyone close to him to be safe and avoid corruption. While imprisoned the worker is tortured but refuses to abandon his faith and falsely confess to another's sins. The torturers do not believe he is innocent. After a long time of torture without breaking he is brought before a psyker, likely an inquisitor, who reads his mind and not only sees he is innocent but sees the pain within him and the desire for vengeance. The psyker turns out to be a cultist for Tzeech, and in the end it is not pain but the promise of revenge that breaks his immense willpower. The last line, "just as planned," heavily implies that it was the psyker who made the false allegations and framed the prisoner in the first place in order to harness his will and defiance to their own ends.

I materialized a chain axe from the warp and carved my way through a crowd screaming "blood for thr blood god" so I could get home and listen to this.

This is a solid sequel. Honestly I can't wait for the next installment. Black Library would be lucky to get a story like this.

Sounds like a good sequel to "Faultless." In the words of Huron Blackheart. "The Imperium is a feeble old man, waiting to be torn apart by his vengeful sons." They made this monster, now they have to deal with it.

Tzeench? Well then it would be orchistrated from the very beggining. But honestly, man with willpower that would not ashame Astrates lost to the Ruinous Powers is truly a loss for the mankind. And that line, All you need to do is say: yes, made me shiver

Such a shame that man got corrupted by chaos, even thought I can absolutely understand why he would give in to the ruinous powers. I still feel that will only do him bad to be a pawn of their plan, the Chaos does not care for their followers only for itself.

And so another falls to the Changer's machinations... We will see which fate awaits him.

The Yes from the torture actually sent chills down my spine, something about it makes it sound horribly evil. This was absolutely perfect as always String

The tone of this one is great. We can feel the quiet defiance, which grasps at the chance for vengeance.

As someone who has tasted bitter loss I have to say, I felt their need for vengeance, the lack of care for the price that needed to be paid, that struck home for me.

I wonder if the servants of Tzeentch, in all their machinations to trick others into serving them or fall to the ruinous powers, ever stop and think "is this the truth of my fall as well? Did I lose myself to lies when there were better alternatives to changing my fate? Was I set up and the tragedies of my life orchestrated by my current master? If so, do I really owe him my loyalty?" Perhaps most are too far gone to ask such a thing, but it's an interesting consideration if nothing else. By the way, interesting enough, it seems our guy was manipulated by a Tzeentchian into becoming a Khornate or perhaps chaos undivided. I wonder if there will be representatives of the other big four coming up in later songs.

Khorne demon or Tzeench demon? I wonder. The bit about blood and rage make me think Khorne, but they don't typically make complex plans like this.

Knowing chaos this poor man was likely not caught by the inquisition by pure coincidence but rather they were seeking to create a vessel. That would be an interesting twist at the end of if he found out that chaos, the very force that "freed" him, caused him to get targeted by the inquisition so they could turn him into a vessel to infect the world.
