I appreciate the video. I just bought one of these to do the tires on my motorcycles as well. Seemed like the best bang for the buck.

You are welcome. I thought it worked really well for the price as I've changed a bunch of tires with just tire spoons and that is hard work. Make sure you get 2 or 3 of those plastic tire bead clamps to keep the tire in the drop center and putting the tires in sun for 30 minutes and getting them warm prior to installing as that will help a lot. Good luck!

Great review freind, I've done a few sets of tyres with this now and for the price I don't think you can complain, I drilled holes in the legs of mine so I could bolt it to my garage floor to stop it spinning, I have managed to scratch my rims with it though maybe it's something I'm doing wrong, I use quick grip clamps to push the tyre into the centre drop but I will check out them tools you use, great video👍🏻

Good idea to bolt it down especially if it was on a table off the ground. You should not be scratching rims and maybe a good idea would be to cover the main part of the tire iron with some duct tape except for the very end in case it slips out. Glad it is working out for you. Those bead tools are only about 22 bucks for 2 of them and I will use 2 or 3 when I do a tire.

Also just bought one, been changin tires for decades with two long screw drivers and grunt. Just may need a long tire iron like you have, thanks for the video, nice to see someone do it without editing the tricky parts out. Cheers mate! The carpet is a nice idea also!

Thanks and I have a Rabaconda versus Constands type tire changer video that I will post in less than a week and at the end of the video will go over tips for easier tire changing.

Used the Constands to change two tires, one front one rear on my Busa, works well but needs improvement. The support blocks under the rim the one attached to the bead breaker is not under the tire when breaking the bead. It's part of the vertical arm so needs to be in position to use the bead breaker leaving the tire and rim angle downwards putting stress on the center post. I will separate them, other than that securing the unit to the floor some how would also help a lot. Otherwise a definite improvement from my old method.@@MarkMitchellHomes

This is mostly a real estate channel, but motorcycles have always been my 1st passion. Still do track days and I will post a Roebling Road video since it was the first time in 20 years I''ve been there and I also just did a Rabaconda versus Constands type tire changer video and even has best tips for easier tire changing so stay tuned as I will have those out in the next week.

We had a tool like this in a car shop years ago, but it was mounted on the floor and raised so you could stand next to it. Makes it a lot easier. It's a great tool but it needs a lot more space than a more modern tire changer solution, they're not even that expensive anymore.

Nice job. Some of those tires are really hard to get on and the machine seems to do well. Getting the bead in the drop center really helps. Someone needs to tell Yamaha to put a real one in. They do produce a lot of torque when turning the tool, is there a way to mount it to the floor / pallet / table? Is the duck head a standard car sized head, or is it smaller like the Rabaconda head? I like to pre-balance the wheel (no tire) and mark the heavy spot with tape, then put the tire on with the yellow spot at the tape location. Sometimes no extra weights needed on the assembly.
@MarkMitchellHomes
@MarkMitchellHomes 29 дней назад
Not sure on the size of the duckhead, but you could definitely mount it to a table.
@wischmeyj23
@wischmeyj23 2 месяца назад
Is the duck head made of soft rubber? Worried about damaging my anodized wheels. Also, for spoked motorcycle wheels, do you have any experience on how well the spokes hold up?
@MarkMitchellHomes
@MarkMitchellHomes 2 месяца назад
It more like a hard plastic and you set the duck head about a 1/4 inch away from the rim so it is not touching the rim at all. If it was a soft rubber it would fold under the pressure. Never done any spoked wheels, but again the duck head is not touching the rim and the pin to hold the wheel from turning is rubber coated so it will not scratch your wheel. Hope this answers your questions.

Do you think anyone could use it for an adventure motorcycle like the KTM 890?
@MarkMitchellHomes
@MarkMitchellHomes 2 месяца назад
I don't see why it would not work unless the axels are very small diameter which I doubt it would be being a heavier bike and having a powerful 900cc engine. My bike is a 2011 GSXR 750. You can always check with Motea.

www.motea-shop.com/en_us/motorcycle-tyre-changer-tire-bead-braker-for-12-21-constands-md4-blue-dpl1-a585878-0 This is the same one I got, but it is $267. You will have to catch them on sale as right now people are probably buying them as riding season is almost here. I caught a big sale, but Motea is the where I bought it from. They are not the fastest shipper, but for the price I paid it was good deal as it took about 3 weeks to get. It will not be Amazon 2 day shipping if you are in the USA.

@@JT18260 Your are welcome...I just happened to catch it on sale and said for the price I was going to try it. I looked at Rabaconda, but did not want to come out of pocket $600. I have 2 sets of wheels and have already swapped over at least 8 tires so it has already paid for itself in 6 months. Not sure what they charge to mount and balance at a motorcycle shop now, but I would think $30-$50 per tire. I started doing some track days last year so it was a good investment.

@@MarkMitchellHomes Over here in KY, the local shops charge $145 to mount 2 tires on a bike plus a $5 disposal and $10 balancing fee per tire. It's ridiculous. This is exactly why I'm doing the job myself

I think at the time I was charged $60 for shipping so the total was $175 shipped to my door and it took almost a month. I got a really good deal on it so try to catch it on sale. I've already changed about 10 tire swaps so it has paid for itself. Most shops charge $30-$50 or more per tire for mount and balance. If your are a track day rider or have a some buddies that ride it is definitely worth having a tool like this.
