Cool idea. Here’s a thought for you… you should get a Kreg pocket hole jig. It works so good for those applications where you need to toenail screws. Extremely strong. Anyway. Good job as always.

When I've built a countertop similar to yours, I added a steel angle to the inside of the wood rim to give it extra support. Screwes spaced about 6 to 8" usually is sufficient to take out most of the flex of the unsupported countertop. If you weld in a support clip that fastens to the end walls it will be even better.
@sp2907
@sp2907 6 месяцев назад
I would agree if you sit on that top now, the unsupported, outer, long 2 x 4 may twist a bit (less strength) since the short 2x4s going to the wall are rotated 90° from what I would’ve expected. Sistering additional short 2x4s 90° next to the other short ones would help. Still, depends on the rest of your plans for the custom cabinet. Jim did make a good save and the squirrel idea was cute!

I did that fancy cut for my baseboards because I didn't trust myself to cut the 45 degree angles properly for the corners. I cut an inch off the top of one and just made the other board stick out an inch to fill that gap by removing the 3 inches below it. Fit like a puzzle piece if that made sense. I don't have one of those fancy miter saws.

Good morning Jim and Lydia. Great to see y'all, I've missed y'all. I loved Ladly putting on those crocs and her eyes, facial expression and little smile when thinking if Daddy would like it...priceless. As a suggestion for next time you have a situation when you need to use "the buddy system" on a single stud - try using a lap joint, a little glue, drill and screw. Viola, a strong joint without the risk of splitting or missing the anchor point. The room looks great and I love that tile floor. I also like the subway tile and color you selected Lydia. It's going to look great. One thing I"m unsure of is the size of the vanitey top, running the full length of the wall. Possibly it was simply for an anchor point as it is a floating vanity. I'll be following to see how it progresses. You guys are doing a great job! Have a blessed week ahead! Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

I need a new vanity in both of my bathrooms. I have been thinking of purchasing them from a big box store, but they don't carry any that really fit my measurements. So now I am wondering if I can do a custom vanity and will be watching how you get this done. Lydia, I enjoy the "commercials" that you produce because you find a way of making them fun. I am guessing that even though you applied the product with a paint brush and roller that it is self smoothing and doesn't have a texture. Is that correct?

Jim It's okay to be confused. That way you're kind of forced to think a little more about what you're doing ( sometimes over thinking) 😊 Also you might be able to use it as an excuse if something goes wrong. 😊 I think your projects come out looking great. But, you can use not being a professional. It again allows you an excuse to mess up.😊 You're like me. To the average person something may look great, but we both know where the tiny little imperfections are.😊 Things like that bothered me for a long time until I saw that professionals aren't alway perfect 😊 Lydia As soon as you showed the green tile and wall paper. I could see the theme you were going for. Everything will tie into the alligator pattern Going to look awesome when it's all finished. Ladley was trying to make sure everyone had their crocs on even the squirrel 😊 So cute and funny 😊 As you have probably heard from Cody and Summer we are having some real cold snowy weather up here. Finally getting a break starting around the 20th. Hoping you make it through whatever comes your way.

I say you need another outlet - - - I have a built-in nook with 4 plugs - - - then 2 plugs by the vanity - - - my grandson lives with me & we each have an electric toothbrush - - - he has an electric shaver - - - I blow dry my hair - - - You can almost never have too many outlets - - - except my husband had put in 12 /2 plugs & 1 /4 plug in the sunroom measuring 12' X 16' - - - overkill

Love the black and red outfit Lydia 😊 Yeah, I’m the same with Jim, I’m not to sure about floating vanities 😮 Doing side jobs 😊 What’s the fallout fee to New Zealand 😂 Bigger tiles I think would be better? It’s actually nice wallpaper ❤ Did Lydia run the stud finder over Jim and find anything? 😂❤ Now now keep it kid friendly, Lydia sitting on the vanity we all know what happens there, dirty minded ❤😂😂😂😮 The sink looks tiny 😮 Your going to need a bigger one? It’s coming along nicely. They say bathrooms and kitchens sell houses, so it’s natural that the most time is spent here. Until the next video with Lydia…….and Jim 😢❤❤❤
