Deciding to settle down on 80 acres in the heart of Southern Louisiana, we decided to share our journey with you as we build a life that will be debt free and self-sustaining. Although we don’t have all the answers, we will rely on determination, research, and good common sense to guide us as we create our home and infrastructure. Lydia is from Illinois and Jim is a life-long resident of Louisiana. Together we will transform our cattle pasture into our dream come true, as well as, having loads of fun on the way, after all, this is Louisiana! Read Genesis 1:26. Then ask yourself what was God's Message in that. Were your actions in God's favor? It should be pretty obvious and without question. I agree with your intentions. Best example I can give is Sea Turtles. They have MASSIVE(although under funded) support for conservation efforts. Why not a deer? For either side, it would seem that public education on the matter is needed. That being said, I do know that just interacting with Humans can change animals behaviors, and not always for the better. I have cared for and bred a few different species. but nothing close to deer. It's hard to say, and this is in full ignorance without using google, but MAYBE the deer biologists hypothesis something related to taking away the survival instincts of the animal and future generations, because behaviors can be passed on through genetics and learned behavior. I think in terms of survival of the species, It probably is best in nature, for them to remain flighty. We aren't their only predator. Ultimately, sad situation, and seemingly wasteful. There's a lot of political things surrounding deer going on lately that doesn't seem right in other states as well. Like the controversy around CWS and mass euthanasia of several white tail. (Not really covered by media) -Seeing as CWS has no supporting evidence that it can spread to humans. Good luck on your can of Worms. It's a lot of work being an advocate. Best advice I can give you on changing policies is, When someone tells you no and they will, come back with a stronger argument and ask again, and try to make bigger friends. Don't be discouraged. Remember, The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
I hope you and your family will all be safe in light of the upcoming storm. I've got relatives in Katy, TX and my heart goes out to all in this present danger.
OMG. The person that killed this newborn on purpose. Something wrong in the head with them. What the H is wrong with the law in Louisiana. If it was in immediate danger from dogs. We need to find a Freelance lawyer to change this or make amendments. It is in the best interest of sane people to challenge this in court. There should be stipulations to the law like being in danger from things other than mother nature taking it's course. I would consider the road as a part of the wild but the dogs are a whole different story. Most people like yourselves know the ramifications of taking the deer. We just need to make the best decision we can and do it. Sounds like you did.
My husband cousin did the samething thing. If u got your wildlife rescue license then u can save animals and get tax right offs. One thing about deer after they grow the bond and habits and let loose deer will come back destroy doors on barns trying to get in. A Male can get ornery. I know a animal rescue lady. I love that u want to help. I think if dnr come and see u r capable of caring for a wild animal as I am sure lots are not. Like my husband cousin lived in an apartment. The list u read off was strange. They will save alligators and snakes its ridiculous. I hope lots of people will join together come up with alternatives rather than ki11 bambi. U had formula u live in the country have fenced in area. They could have worked with u to release later. 😢 laws like rebels say r meant to broke sometimes. I'm glad u mentioned if it were outside they wouldn't have done anything. Good luck with everything ❤❤
Wow, you did the right thing. I would fight the ticket and explain it to the judge, where perhaps he can suspend the fine, and still find you guilty. As for the death of the deer, I don't find it sensitive and in the wild, there is life and death on a daily basis.
Just found your channel. I dont think it’s at all a overreaction- it’s called compassion. Should animal control be called on the dogs? Maybe. I say look into changing it. Why not. #ripdasher
What I love more than watching the project they are working on is the love that shows through that they have for each other It just makes watching the project more interesting
I am curious about not using a screen/rebar . i am needing to pour a 5x7 by 3-4 thick pad, should I using a metal screen to reinforce? using as a base for a storage shed. thanks in advance
You can dry pour but mixing will give you better strength and peace of mind. The moisture in the ground or at the time in your area will determine your results
These laws are heartless. And like Judge Judy always said, "the goal of the law should be to temper Justice with Mercy". Rest in peace, little Dasher. May you find shade and comfort in the palm of Our Creator. 😢 And, Heavenly Father, please help little Dasher find his way Home. 🙏
What great people y'all are! Even through the negative side of this, you both seen so positive- even through this horrible incident. So sorry that it turned out like it did. Love and hugs❤
As hard as you work, how DO you keep those fingernails? I think you should put fenders over the wheels. That would protect even more from the sun and goat droppings. Shorten the bolts holding the tires on the inside to protect goat legs.
U guys did the right thing. I've had numerous wild animals here in WI that helped. U got a new subscriber from me for ur companion. But I do believe the animals that need to be put down are the group if dogs.
Just a side note I herd her say the typically sidewalks are not 3-1/2 inches thick anyway. But yes they all are basically 3-1/2 inches because all the form boards are 3-1/2 inches. I know when you purchase the wood or say 1x4s they are 3/4” inches x 3-1/2 inches just a side note.
God bless you all, in the end that's all that men and women can do, is get gods blessing for the acts we have done, and he does bless you all, this I know for sure and nothing more could have been done!
I don’t understand why someone would not hire a mixer and do it the conventional way. I paid £20 for a weekend hire. We know that dry pour is not as strong as conventional concrete, it’s at most half as strong, maybe a lot less. Is it good enough for a path? Yes. Will it last as many years? I don’t think anyone knows. Oh and since you did one long continuous path, it will crack with time. I have long conventional concrete paths around my house, all have cracked over the decades. And they are deeper than yours.
Instant subscriber! I'm neurodivergent and so many videos that offer step by step instructions have key details missing that perhaps novices don't think to include for people who need every single detail included to fully comprehend the project plan, and I am scared to mess things up. That's money if I mess up. You guys went down to an actual shot of the spray flow, and my neurodivergent self appreciates this so much! ❤ We can't afford all the things this girl wants done to our home, so I've been on a journey to learn things on my own, and this video made me feel so much more comfortable to tackle our entryway walkway.
The law is there for a reason....however, I highly doubt it is in place for this particular situation. Your best argument is that the deer was obviously NOT in the wild when acquired.
It’s sad most people think it’s the law. Wild life organization is an agency which does what it is directed by the global overlords. Little makes sense and Americans need to study law. This is a “chevron doctrine” type of bullying. Look it up.
Doing the right thing is never wrong. You did the right thing. Unfortunately here in Oregon we have the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and their laws are just as dumb. There are good laws and bad laws. This was a bad stupid horrible law that I hope you can help change. Sorry you had to go through this.
So for this technique no plastic on the bottom is ok? I would like to use this technique for the base of my small above ground swimming pool. How long do you think I need to wait to put the pool on top of it? I'm in a warm climate (30°c and up)
In case no one has mentioned this, Catherine from G & G Farms is a licensed deer rehabilitator for the State of Alabama and I believe the only one in the entire State. I am sure she could give you some valuable information regarding this. She has a RU-vid channel. Thank you so much for what you did for this helpless little fawn. This story broke my heart.
