Awesome job. You have done your small part to help restore my faith in humanity. Seeing you chipping away every day making something beautiful, IS BEAUTIFUL. I hope you have a lot of fun with the boat. One question: If you had to do it again would you still choose Wood/Fiberglass? What about Aluminum? There'd be a lot less sanding :-).
20 years after its first launch, Neos is still sailing in the Pacific and with performances that make you dream. Here is a video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Oo2eKJ8yWow.html
Hello. I would like to also know how to get your plans. We have land in the Philippines near the ocean that would be a perfect place to build a boat after your plans. Please do tell us. Thank you.
Beautiful Work !!! May I ask how long it took and how much it cost? I'm planning on building a 36 - 40 feet Cat. Still haven't decided Aluminium or Wood / Fiberglass. Suggestions and advise is appreciated! Thank you.
I have some experience of that. In your size 36 to 40 feet aluminium is far too heavy. It's also the most challenging technically for obtaining a good quality. It will ask also a complete insulation, that's a lot of work and materials pretty expensive. So remains GRP but sandwich or wood. A 20 mm foam PVC 90 kg/m3 and skins in GRP, it's a pretty dirty and very smelly job. Dirty as you have to sand a lot of GRP which makes a very itchy dust going everywhere. In this size wood and plywood with epoxy resin are the easiest for an amateur, requiring fewer tools and also less pain. Wood is rather clean and it does not smell badly. You neighbors will appreciate. Besides it will be probably the lightest one. There are plenty of good plans in this size for a correct price..
In which country do you want to build it? I can sell you the plans of the boat. Contact me at this email address if you are interested: vaiteabungalow@gmail.com
Congratulations and thank you for sharing with us! If you get a chance, can you give us few details related to the paint you used, where can be find and also the rest of the acceessories you added to the catamaran?
Congratulations! Great job! I wasn't sure at first but I guess it's a fiberglass hull with wood deck? Or something like that. I'm sure you really appreciate the extra room. 55 years ago my dad cut the top of and old wood boat he bought after sailing for a year decided to do it! Took him 2 years and almost a divorce to rebuild and re rig from gaff to bermudian rig. Unfortunately after some years of using it and a growing family we had to get something bigger! Hope this is you last modification? Did you increase the rig or was what you had powerful enough. I'll check out your website Good job guys!
It would be good to see a break down of all the tools, build materials, space required etc. Then people could try to estimate costs. 9000 hours is a ton of work and I suspect most people wouldn't be able to finish such a massive project.
@@neos62 Bonjour Denis, j en conclus, compte tenu de votre pseudo RU-vid que vous travaillez peut être sur un 62 pieds...? Avez vous publié des vidéos ou infos relatifs à ce nouveau bateau ? Merci
