The amazing thing about this movie in 2020 is it shows just how predictable it is for a novel virus to arise, and how predictable the progression across the world is. The economic and political impacts are dramatized, of course (as is everything in a movie that needs to tell a story in 2 hours), but everything about COVID19 was predictable, and could have been planned for. Indeed, we had plans “on the shelf”, so to speak, and still managed to completely mess up absolutely everything about our response.

The 2011 film Contagion was conceived and shot in the wake of the 2009 Swine Flu pandemic, as the collaboration of director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Scott Z. Burns. It belongs to a small collection of materials and events demonstrating strange, almost prophetic awareness of what has befallen us since 2019. For much of last year especially, it often felt as if we were locked inside the screenplay of this infernal film, waiting for the vaccines to save us in the final act. Contagion is above all important, because it reveals the degree to which Corona has unfolded according to the advance planning of academics and public health bureaucrats, who have spent every year since the 2003 SARS outbreak feverishly scheming about The Next Pandemic. Over time the planning became so elaborate, and attracted the interest of so many people, that it came to resemble less and less a plan, and more and more a trap, which required only the right virus to spring it.

How short sighted WBE. I understand times are currently tough. As you gather a few views of this preview & gather a few $$$ from a current paid streaming service, if you had placed the entire movie for all to see for free as a courtesy, the name of Warner Bros would have been embedded in the consciousness of millions in the future ensuring a greater return. Interesting how the movie virus effects everybody, but the real Rona is mainly effecting low income communities and nursing homes almost as if their being targeted..I mean that’s where the Free govt testing sites were located, and the tests known for false positives, people with allergies,anxiety, colds, panic,fear showing up mixing with sick people, riots protests, hospitals start to fill up, bring in refrigerated trucks.. hey wait in the movie they Burned the bodies since it’s sooooo contagious 🤔 but In the real world we store the bodies for funerals? Doesn’t make sense .... The movie seems more real than the PLANdemic Oops I mean Pandemic 2020. Just a theory tho 😉
