Plants purchased online can often take a beating during the shipping.
Today’s video, I plant a new mango tree after 5 days in the mail.

I have faith in your Valencia pride I ordered mine from Florida! 6 months ago it was only 2 foot tall and now it sits just over 5 feet and has about 20 peanut size mangoes, and I’m here in ceres! So far it’s going very well

They both look really healthy, Jeff. Hopefully, they both thrive after the transplant 🤞. If that nursery provides phytosanitary certificates, I wonder if they will ship internationally? 🤔 That's the main requirement I need to be able to import plants from outside the UK, but many nurseries are unwilling to provide them.

Great video as usual. Could you please explain what good protected area for mango trees would be? Thank you.

Ideally up against the south wall of a building

That is great. Will you switch it out after a couple of months to the more permanent soil?
@TropicalGardenGuy
@TropicalGardenGuy Месяц назад
No, once the new roots fill the pot, it will go directly into the ground

Are you planning on putting the peanut butter tree in the ground in a month or two? It seems a bit small. Have you been able to successfully plant a tropical that small in ground here?

So you recommend the same soils you use for avocados if I want it in a container long term? I just got a Fruit Punch Mango but I live in a more colder area
@TropicalGardenGuy

Long term I like a mix of sand, peat or coir and perlite

Wow nice. I am in Zone 9b in fairfield and wondering if that tree will grow here. If not what type of mango will grow in my zone? TY again and live ur videos. I am working on my sub tropical fruit garden myself and ur videos really helped.

Worth a try, but best to plant in the most protected spot in your garden as they are cold sensitive, especially when young.

I read a comment online from a guy in Sac area and he said his nam doc mai was live after the winter. I’m in Sonoma and keep my mango trees in the greenhouse to be safe. If the warm winters start to be a trend then I believe they can eventually manage outside, this far up. Mine flower at random times throughout the year, including late winter. At this time of the year, I’ve pulled them out of the greenhouse to get unfiltered sun. Every single mango tree I’ve ordered has survived in the greenhouse with no issue. The leaves certainly stay green all year. I’ve also seen a picture of a Manila mango tree, fruiting, in Elk Grove area, outside, in a rather protected area.
