I own a BG because of your advice and I enjoy greatly! It’s super beefy and I don’t feel like I’m going to break it. I’m a big guy, so it’s real thing for me.

Thanks for the review PK! My vote is for the BG's. Have 3 now and love them. I also have couple Battle IIs which I still use but have had them lock up at various times. For me, definitely not a reel to take out in the surf no matter how careful you are. I believe an issue between spool shaft and pinion gear causes this, though a quick dismantle and lube fixes the problem each time.

Some of the points that you did not cover was the amount of force that it takes to turn the reel handle. Every Daiwa BG that I own the handle will turn on its own with its weight. Meaning the reel handle will return to straight down at the 6:00 position. The handle and rotor assembly spins very freely. The Penn Battle reels that I bought (and then sold) will not do this. Turning that handle all day with the Daiwa is less tiring than with the Penn, especially when casting and reeling in swim baits. Reeling in the Daiwa takes much less effort than reeling in the Penn. All reels that have an auto trip bail will be more likely to close “accidentally” when you cast than non auto trip reels. The Daiwa reels are to me and my kids the best choice in that price point.

i have a battle 6000 and the aize is about the same of my 5000 bg, the 4500 bg i also have is the size of my penn 5000 fierce

The Battle II is discontinued. The current model is the Battle III, might have been a better comparison.

my bg took a swim this last week and i just finished repacking it with grease, did not come with much grease from the factory but the bg is my favorite spinning reel at that 100~ price point

I have three Penn Battle II 4000s that I use for everything. I bought a few extra spools for them, so that I can have a wider range of line choices on any given day.
