They had that small, circular rug for the contestants to stand on as they spun the wheel, until someone slipped and fell down. Soon after, a much larger carpet was used, which has been replaced every so often. The one used in Season 51 appears to be a brand-new one.

It's the same wheel that's used now. Just changes in the lights, font of the numbers, and the small price down font $ changed to the big $

And of course, I hate it when puny spins happen because it wastes the show some time, especially when it happens more than once. Thankfully it didn't happen on this occasion, but also at the same time you don't want to spin it too hard that it takes forever and Bob has to do jokes while it spins.
