Rain on a tin roof, or a tent. I can’t imagine much more relaxing of a sound. Spring has sprung down this way, mushroom hunting and trout fishing a lot with my new schedule. No luck in either endeavor, but enjoy the time out. Grass is green and trees are budding and out, in the clear I imagine. Always good to see you my friend. Be well, Stephen
Trout fishing and mushroom hunting? Sounds good to me. I expect there's a good bit of generalized wandering to. Just looking and listening. At least that's what I do. Take care
Ironically I just finished up the first cigar I've smoked in 2023 while watching your video lol. Another good video and thankfully that snow stays up there with you. It's been cool in Kentucky but no snow. Just rain and wind. Already been mowing for a month now. Take care TD
Beautiful! As you were talking about sitting by the wood stove listening to the sound of the rain and snow falling on the roof, I was reminded of something that Calvin Rutstrum wrote in one of the little chapters in "Chips from a Wilderness Log" about the pleasure of doing the same while spending the night in a cabin somewhere up in the Northwoods canoe country. The sound of geese flying overhead often reminds me of Aldo Leopold.
Definitely ready for Spring to hit in full force. But looks like a good setting to enjoy a cigar. I've been relegated to mostly cigars since moving to Washington. I'm to complaining though. At least to much.
It seems to have hit here now. It's warmish and hasn't snowed for a couple days. Sometimes I think I could smoke cigars exclusively, but I also know that it wouldn't be long, and I'd be wanting a pipe. I hope you are enjoying you cigars.
Hiyas TD What a beautiful scene!! Perhaps it's my Scandinavian heritage speaking, but I feel at peace in the woods when it's snowing. Cross country skiing was a favorite pastime for me; we've barely had enough snow to slip and fall the last couple of years. It's all up Nort I reckon. I will definitely check out Uhle's cigars, I don't smoke many but I do enjoy one now and again. I'd prefer to give my $ to Uhle's. I use the YT studio to read comments that don't show up on phone for some reason. Who knows why they get hidden. Strange, so it goes. Serene smokes my friend. Gary
Strangely, I've never tried skiing. I think it might be because of those skin-tight suits everyone wears. I'll stick with my snow shoes and wool pants 😁. Though I haven't had much chance to use them the last couple years. Yep the studio app seems to work well. Take care
@@timberdrifter8225 I've never done any downhill skiing, not really interested. I'm very unfashionable when I cross-country ski, sensible winter gear only.
I used to work at a State protected wetlands in Tennessee and in the Summer it would fill up with Canadien geese. We would have to move them along. We used to make jokes about feeding like border patrol officers. I get it, its not funny, but neither is breaking their migratory patterns. The wetlands is flourishing now, but at the expense of...🙄 Good to see you, Lil'brother. MUCH LOVE
I get the joke about feeling like the border patrol. There are so many lake homes with well maintained green lawns around here. The geese really like feeding on those lawns. And crapping on them. People have spent a lot of time and money attempting to prevent this. I haven't seen anything really work besides actually chasing them off. I think a properly trained dog would probably do a good job but I haven't heard of a goose control dog yet. 🤔
Hello TD. Good to see you. It seems to be ground hog day for you with the snow. We are about half way through spring so stay positive because summer is coming. Be well.
If they do, I'll just put on my hard hat and green reflective vest and wave them off with my clip board while sternly telling them "there is no parking in this area! Keep moving! Get!"
Good to see you as always. Keeps turning back chilly and windy here. No snow but we had another frost recently. Can't trust it here till about mid may as far as frost goes
The sound of rain is a wonderful thing as is standing in the muffled quiet of falling snow. Your conversation adds to the pleasure. Be well and stay awesome - peace
UGG! Most of ours has melted except up high. Sure glad of it! I like snow, and I like Winter, but I like my seasons too. It skipped Spring this year, and jumped straight to Summer. Yesterday , I think was 85F? When it gets hot suddenly, instead of gradually, it's a shock to your system and feels even hotter than it is. Same in the Fall.....jump straight to Winter and it doesn't need to be really cold to be miserable. I like cigars. I like the way they taste, but every time I have one, I remember why I don't smoke. They make me ill ! Ha! Start turning green like in the cartoons! I used to like hunting ducks, but I'm not fond of the taste. I'd give them to friends or family, but they got too expensive to hunt after requiring steel shot and duck stamps......it is fun though. You really should monetize your channel. It's not a lot of money, but it's still green. Heck, if nothing else, it will buy you a box of cigars once in awhile.
😁 ya know spring is a funny time of year. I think it was a couple weeks back we had 4 days in a row in the high 70s low 80s. Despite the fact that I was standing in snow and could see snow everywhere, the heat felt oppressive. That is a weird feeling.
They are here now😁. 79 today. Was out looking for morels but then the rain came. Excellent to see you in the comments my friend. Hope life is good. Or at least good enough.
Great video and I enjoyed the chat. I know what you mean about the simple pleasures from the sound of rain or snow. I just came back from 9 days fishing in the backcountry (a wet 9 days) and I loved every minute of it. Especially the evening with a wood stove sitting in the tent just listening. Sounds like a good cigar, just curious what your favorite cigars are? Regards Mark
That sounds like a lovely trip. About cigars, Im lucky because my favorite cigar is usually the one im smoking. I can appreciate the expensive cigars but i like the cheap ones to. As long as the draw is good and it isn't flavored or get harsh, I tend to enjoy it. I prefer a churchhill size but I'll take what I can get. At the moment I'm smoking a montesino Toro natural. Been smoking them for a couple years and it is becoming a favorite. There are a number of others that stand out a bit but can't think of names at the moment. They are all relatively cheap though. Glad you got to enjoy some fishing. Even if it was wet. Hey that helps you identify with the fish more😁😉. Take care
Good seeing you again, TD. I love the sound of weather on a tin/steel roof. Nothing better to put me to sleep.😅 I usually take the bands of my cigars as well. I have nobody to show them off to anyway. We've had 4 days of cool and rain. The damn mosquitoes 🦟 are out and hungry already. They love the bushes and such around our property. The neighbors probably think im nuts swatting in the air for no reason. 😂
Great to see ya, T. I can imagine that by month six of snow, it can get pretty tiresome, but you seem zen about it which is good to see. I'm also pretty happy to chooch on a cheap cigar that's decently constructed -- more than I'm willing to smoke cheaper, meh pipe tobacco. Didn't know Uhle's made cigars too, that's cool. I hope these last remaining days of slushy spring are filled with more rainstorm symphonies and geese nocturnes for you, and that soon enough summer comes rushing in. It's already starting to feel that way here. Take care.
90% of the time, I like the snow and cooler weather. I don't have electricity or plumbing/running water, so life is actually easier in winter. Water in the form of snow is readily available to be melted on the woodstove, which is already running. The whole outdoors is effectively a refrigerator/freezer, so food preservation is not a problem. It's easier to move things around in a sled on snow than to use a wheelbarrow on dirt on mud. Also, I'm already heating the house with the woodstove, so cooking doesn't require any extra inputs like gas or electricity. Still, a change of seasons is welcome eventually and each season brings its own delights.
Yeah I recently had two comments, and from good YTPC friends, that only showed up in the studio app. Kinda ticks me off the games this thing plays for whatever reason. Late ice out will make for good river walleye opener
I don't know how much of it is purposeful or runaway algorithms. Or even that this platform is just massive and requires a good bit of tinkering to make it work. Sometimes one fix can cause a number of other problems that aren't apparent at the time and have to be patched later. Either way, it's a pain in the a$$ at times. Don't know if I'll have time for fishing but I'll get around to it eventually.
