The soundscapes that people have are just getting belter all the time. Absolute respect on the whole model, sound and atmosphere. I love the flatspot at 0:35.
As a former railroader, it pains me to every extreme to view a model railroad video to hear "engineers" arbitrarily blowing the horn for absolutely no reason. Yet, this video was perfect! And from the video, I felt the sense that I hit the horn quickly for a railfan then started blowing for a crossing. Absolutely lifelike, and a joy to watch! Thank you for actual modeling realism!
My God this is model railroading realism to the highest level. Leslie RS3L air chimes, turbine sounds, rail car wheel noise and car shifting. Weathering and landscape detailing. Thx so much for this great share.
Super realistic sounds! Best I’ve ever heard short of standing next to a real train moving through a crossing. Even the horn Doppler effects are amazing.
From someone in the crane industry and watching as the boom (hydraulic) deflects under a load, this is simply amazing to watch this on an HO scale. I'd love to see this in real life
On the UP the sections of rail were a 1/4 mile long when I was still working. I have pulled them loaded and empty. Usually at least two 1/4 mile sections of train to unload. You would pull forward slowly and the rail crew would offload the rail as you were moving. I cannot remember how much rail a fully loaded section would hold top to bottom. As I was the engineer I couldn’t get off and watch the unloading process. I can tell you it does not take a long time to unload, and the crew is walking alongside the train.
That control point complete with switch heater ducts and propane tank detail is _almost_ as impressive as the CWR bracket cars and simulated welded rail loads 👍🏿
I have watched you forever now and you are so amazingly talented and make things so realistic and I am glad you are making videos a lot again thanks Josh Clark 😊
I have discusses for over a decade with modelers here in the UK about how to replicate this exact type of train (as we have them over here too) but never thought I'd see it actually modelled. Fantastic stuff.
@@jamesbeckwith3639 It was at this years show yes. It is a 00 scale layout I have he floor plan but the layout I thought it was on does not look to fit the description. Kirkby Stephen West 1950's - 1960's period I will see if I can find any video of it though.
I have found there was a long welded rail train on Kirkby Stephen West ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K1VUPV8ZJRo.html but these were bolster wagons Reevy Road West built by Bradford MRS is the BR blue era layout that could have it
Wow! Most impressive! The syncronised prototype recording really enhances the whole scene and adds greatly to what is already a very realistic model! Well done!
This is the first time I've seen a Continuous Welded Rail Train model😲 I enjoyed it as you have no idea, thanks for sharing👍 Greetings from Mexico friend😉
Ok! That's pretty dang cool they pulled this off in HO scale. I am curious if it is rail from flex track or styrene painted as rail to give that flex as it went around the curves. - Jason
Has to be styrene. I did the same exact type of train in O scale 2R and real 148 rail was far too solid for curvature. Unfortunately got bored of O scale and sold it all off for a pretty penny and drove it 4 hours away.
When I worked on the BNSF rail trains as a crew doing old rail recovery and unloading new rail we had the tool car, threader car and power car, the preferred choice of locomotives were the SD40-2's over the GE's because the 40's were much smoother at pulling and shoving the train at a low and constant speed. One thing missing is an air compressor on the tie down car in the middle of the train.
There's a load like this sitting in down town Chehalis, WA near the historical train station right now (12-11-21). It been there a few days now. Anyone close by should check it out. But awesome layout and train. That is some talent!
I can tell you how it works in full size. The rail is only locked down on the middle car of the train so the rail slides back and forth on rollers to go around curves
These new trains are awesome. I had an HO setup which was a large oval with two spurs leading into the center. To me that was a big deal at the time. I'm 70 so you can imagine what it was like. I had this huge Athearn (spelled right?) Union Pacific engine. The trucks were unusual for that period I guess, because off the amount of axles/truck. I can't remember the number, but it was cool and different. My Dad got a price break because nobody wanted to buy it for some reason and was on the shelf too long. Good for me, ha ha.
That is an amazing piece of modeling. I'm guessing that consist won't be running during every session -- it's a bit of a standout! Perhaps you could make a long box for taking it to other modelers' layouts! Stunning work.
I can't wait until I become a boomer so I can do this stuff. I've already got my Christmas village stuff out! Now I just need a train to run through it! Merry Christmas!
Josh you and Tom are just amazing, you and your dad never cease to amaze me at y'all's talent. Thanks for sharing and hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!
Does anyone have footage of this being loaded or unloaded in real life? It would be amazing to see. Great job Josh, I’m guessing the cars are heavily weighted to prevent derails? It ran so well through the crossover and immediately into the curve. Spectacular.
Was pretty stoned when I first saw this in my recommended videos. As a fan of iinfrastructure, I immediately clicked the video without reading the thumbnail. OMG I was SO CONFUSED how did he get such good train shots?! How was the camera moving so fast?! The sounds totally threw me off I thought I was watching a real train!!! Then I actually read the comments and saw that it was a hyper-detailed model 😳🤣🤣🤣
Hey Thanks Dennis. John Parker modeled this one and the rail is made out of flexible plastic / I believe the cars are weighted to keep everything on the track. - Josh
