CONTON CANDY 🍭「花びらと生活音」...charming pop, or deeper than it looks? 

“Fuzzy Navel” was the song that blew up. I was going to see Conton Candy perform with Layla last October when I was in Japan but ended up seeing Chakura for the third time in five days instead 😅 Anyway, I like it but don’t love it may change with repeat listens. They’re a band I want to listen to more something just isn’t clicking for me. I have to say, this song reminds me a lot of Kaneyorimasaru (カネヨリマサル) which is kind of a problem. There are a lot of three-piece bands that have a similar sound, and for me they sometimes all blend together. There's nothing here that separates Conton Candy from a lot of other bands that sound just like this. It a nice song though.

This was their breakthrough track, has nearly 18M views in a year, never worked out why - possibly just the power of YT algorithms ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TSYtV4xa8Pw.html . Overall their sound is similar to other bands - vocally reminds me of Yuuho Kitazawa (formerly of the Peggies) only more annoying. There's plenty of other bands like this around, but somehow Conton Candy seem to be succeeding where others struggle.
