This game has a little trick that is very useful: Jump in air, pause (go to select char menu), do nothing and go back to game while holding the jump button, and you will be able to jump again while you still in air.
My most favorite Contra version. I love it so much. I ever try to make a story based on this. Beans is my fave. Using pistol in normal, only use super-bomb when fighting the boss.

We also had the contra force version, it was named as contra 3. I have played both. Contra 6 was a clone which didn't have the proper animation and weapons
A lot of people give this game a bad rap. If you put it aside from the rest of the Contra games, and play it knowing it isn't supposed to be one, It's actually a pretty fun game. There were some slow down issues, and some people say it was gamebreaking, but I never really thought so. I don't really understand why this game was cancelled as Arc Hound. There are plenty of games far worse than this that got released for NES.
My little brother used to force me to play this game with him back then.. as much as he loves to always team up with me, I'm that person who always prefer pvp or versus games.. so i ended up declining him as possible.. Now that he's about to enter adulthood, seeing this game really hurts me a lot, it isn't because I didn't liked the game that much, but because I should've been there for him, to make him smile when I got the chance.. Now that he's older, I can feel that he's more comfortable when I'm not around...
Same story with me and my elder brother too, he found me weak. But gradually I improved my gameplay and started beating him up in every versus game we had. He looked furious but I guess he was proud from within as I became a better gamer than him
Those were the days when were unable 2 Save the game.....there was no Save option in the game.....we have 2 play continuously till we were tired .....But the game never ended......like Mario...
Played this with my younger bro. We didn't have the cart. One of our friends had it from his cousin and he brought it to our home to play with us. Then we had to borrow the cart and finish it in a week or so.

Lo que destaca de Konami es la capacidad de exprimir las capacidades gráficas y sonoras de varias consolas de videojuegos gracias a chips especializados en sus cartuchos.
I loved that it lagged...gave a distinct feel to the game compared to other contras....the game really stretched the hardware capabilities of the NES...that's why it looks so good as well.
All obstacle and enemies will respawn off screen so you can exploit that and get cases to level up your arsenal before get into boss fight or hard section
The second brother - Smith (how I used to call) got his special gun as a auto tracking missile, which is just extremely useful for 1st & 2nd boss (just stand where he can't shoot you and gun him down).If you play a straight run like this, the 3rd brother Iron would look much cooler, he got - what I called: A bazooka gun with cool animation :D
Ahora lo estoy jugando en mi viejo Famicom, y he encontrado de gran ayuda utilizar al CPU en modo de apoyo, ademas del arma incomparable Homming Missile de Smith. También estoy utilizando un glitch que me ha sido de gran ayuda en las escenas de scroll lateral, y consiste en dejar presionado el botón de salto, poner pausa y luego quitarla sin soltar el botón de salto, lo que hace que el personaje salte indefinidamente en el aire si se repite este mismo procedimiento.

At 4:00 you can jump enemy head, when you have gold jump you kill him and make you jump more up, and boss level when you jumping no die. And 1 tip and trick when I make at map 1, like 4:05 I kill all and box and make, look. Down 1P have 5 case, 1 is default 2 is hg 3 MB 4 ti and 5 gold jump. To 1 chance to kill easy boss I make boring but, like 4:05 part I shoot all box to have case 3, and go far and back to rebuilding box and shoot for briefcase and make 3, you must collect 4 briefcase for 3 case select to gun bullets. And after again 5 for 1 briefcase and collect 6 briefcase for triple shoot, and if you want gold jump. But don't need that if collect all briefcase and no die when you boss time. When die you bullet and jump will be restarted
Rajesh kumar is like this character at "MB" red bullets like boss level 1 2 4 and 5. You have this at 2nd case and is blue bullets. And 3rd is rocket following :)
Very good play my friend. No die. You with 02 life and 3nd case and triple shoot no die. In version of 05 life no can finish game whit 5 life's. But you do this with 2. Gj. Maybe later video you make trick how say with jump pause jump pause. I watching full video. And I write minutes when I seen this trick with jump more, to short map, or catch lift at level 3
After 3 or 4 exploded box you have briefcase 💼 after 3 collect, press select button to give you grenades or sniper bullet. At 4 briefcase is ti = triple bullet or grenades or fire or what is your power gun. Default you have 2 bullets max on shooting. And last case make you invincible when jump and gold. Triple make you 3 bullets. And white simple case is activated indicator.
Last map at next 26:57 congratulations. You die 1 time good. I die 30 time with all character. I choice low character to finish with 1 character what in this video choice. Because is the best, in my version his name is Bruce. And is very good jumping and army.
This game has actually a little secret trick in Nintendo if you press start and select again and again and like other contra you can have 17 lives of each player too which actually ain't 17 but equal to 31 lives of each player
