I’m a newish muslim, that left Christianity a little after I finished my studies of christianity. Around the age 20 Even though I was not religious nor did I care or thought about a God, but something pulled me in that way. All I had at the time was the KJV Bible & I knew very little about religious matters, I thought the kJV was the only Bible that all knew was true unless a person just didn’t want to. I was really wrong but I ended up going to school to learn as much as I could, looking back now I believe Allah put me in that path. at the school I stuck out like a sore thumb, everyone else came from a religious background & was all ready indoctrinated before going to college. So even when they found out things like the Bible had been added to over the years, we was able to know this from seeing earlier copies of the same Gospel’s that are found in the Bible. The newer copies always had things that the older ones just didn’t have, than the four gospels were by four Anonymous writers that later were given the names Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to make them seem more trust worthy. This is why it says the gospel according to so & so, that’s what it was the gospel according to four anonymous people out of the whole entire world. I also had a problem learning about Paul & just couldn’t understand how he really fit in the whole story, something within me just would not accept Paul. Anyways now I use what I learned to try to show other Christians the corruption within the New Testament.

In this series of conversation, Joshua said at one point that, according to oral Torah, Malachi was the last prophet. But than he said that person mentioned in Isaiah 42 has not come yet. So how are Jews going to recognize him? since it will contradict oral Torah. They will have to reject him as well, just like they rejected Jesus & Mohammed.
@joshualeonpearl3724

Because the servant mentioned in Isaiah 42 is not a single person - the servant is the Jewish people. Observe: Isaiah 41:8-9: But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, Seed of Abraham My friend - You whom I drew from the ends of the earth And called from its far corners, To whom I said: You are My servant; I chose you, I have not rejected you Isaiah 42:1: This is My servant, whom I uphold, My chosen one, in whom I delight. I have put My spirit upon him, He shall teach the true way to the nations. Isaiah 42:19: Who is so blind as My servant, So deaf as the messenger I send? Who is so blind as the chosen one, So blind as the servant of the LORD? Isaiah 43:10: My witnesses are you - declares the L-rd - My servant, whom I have chosen. To the end that you may take thought, And believe in Me, And understand that I am He: Before Me no god was formed, And after Me none shall exist Isaiah 44:1-2: But hear, now, O Jacob My servant, Israel whom I have chosen! Thus said the L-rd, your Maker, Your Creator who has helped you since birth: Fear not, My servant Jacob, Jeshurun whom I have chosen Isaiah 44:21: Remember these things, O Jacob For you, O Israel, are My servant: I fashioned you, you are My servant - O Israel, never forget Me. Isaiah 45:4: For the sake of My servant Jacob, Israel My chosen one, I call you by name, I hail you by title, though you have not known Me. Isaiah 49:3: And He said to me, “You are My servant, Israel in whom I glory.” Isaiah 52:13: Indeed, My servant shall prosper, Be exalted and raised to great heights. Isaiah 53:11: Out of his anguish he shall see it; He shall enjoy it to the full through his devotion. “My righteous servant makes the many righteous, It is their punishment that he bears

I think this is a waste of time because the learned Jews and Christians don't believe that their scripture is a direct word from God. They will agree that there are contradictions. The more interesting question would be why do they reject the Holy Qur'an. A book that has been preserved for thousands of years without errors and contradiction. If they concede that the Qur'an is the Word directly from God then the Christians have to reject trinity and the Jews have to accept Jesus as the Messiah AS and consequently they have to accept prophet Muhammad ﷺ as Allah's ﷻ last Messenger ﷺ

my position's here straight and clear... unless I can see that the Quran,sunnah,the early generation and the major scholars of islam have demonstrated those parts of the torah as being contradicting,then I'll accept them as contradictions...if not then I have no right to degrade and find errors in the verses...because those might be the true words of Allah and not included in the distorted parts of the book,and prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was careful about it for which he once told one of his companions in an incident that to not believe nor disbelieve in that which they (the jews,the christians) speak about from their books (reported in a sahih hadith)...so I am free from the accusation of contradictions,unless backed by proof from authentic islamic sources...and I think all muslims should take that stand...I ask forgiveness to Allah if I'm wrong..

Woe, then, to those who write the Book with their hands (interpolating into it their readings of the Scriptures and their explanatory notes thereto, stories from their national history, superstitious ideas and fancies, philosophical doctrines and legal rules) and then, in order to sell it for a trifling price (such as worldly benefit, status, and renown), they declare: "This is from God. as far as I know, in Torah is nothing like „this is the last message, dont believe in anything that comes after it“ (correct me if im wrong). In Quran there is. So HE has to disprove Quran and not WE the Torah because Quran is for all mankind and Torah was just for Bani Israil. I dont get the discussion. They believe that there were many prophets with different Books, so why do they stop at Musa and dont consider Muhammad (saw) as a prophet? HE has to disprove Islam, because everything is from one source and we as muslims claim that the same almighty in which they believe send down the Quran.

Torah acc to Jews is the first five books of the Bible written by Musa and contain the divine law which is eternal and unchanging acc to Jews. The Prophets and their books afterwards are not meant to expand the law but they came to re establish the deen of Musa which at times Bani Israel deviated from. We know the Torah was the truth. No one is disputing that. I don’t think Ali should have been looking for “contradictions” and it doesn’t really work if he doesn’t speak Hebrew. We have similar things in the Quran that a non Arabic speaker or someone who doesn’t understand our religion can call a contradiction when it is not at all a contradiction. It’s a core part of our religion to believe in the Torah of Moses and Injeel of Jesus and Zabur of David and scrolls of Abraham (peace be upon them all) We believe in all of the Israelite prophets that we were told about (God says in the Quran that he didn’t tell us about All the prophets) and Moses (pbuh) is the prophet that is mentioned most in the Quran. We worship the same god and pray almost identical to you guys (or at least to a couple of videos of Jewish prayers I’ve seen online). We have the same concept of the hereafter.

This is why I encourage Muslims to read the Bible, I would have simply told him to open his Tanakh to Jeremiah 8:8. The story of Isaac and Ishmael is a very obvious corruption. Ishmael was 14 when Isaac was born. So after Isaac was weaned Abraham sent away Hagar and Ishmael (for a 2nd Time?) Ishmael would have been 18 or 19 when Isaac was weaned but when he is sent away again he turns back into a baby. This only happened one time (not 2) and Muslims travel between Safa and Marwah in remembrance of this story. Also according to Deuteronomy 21:15-17 the greater covenant should of went to Ishmael (so they changed the story but forgot to change the law). Also I don’t understand how the Oral tradition stresses that Malachi was the last prophet. Malachi is a very short scripture in the Tanakh with only 4 chapters. God says before the Day of Judgement that He’ll send the prophet Elijah, so prophethood wasn’t closed. This is the connection between the Tanakh and John the Baptist (Yahya) who like Elijah came at a time when Israel was in disobedience and killing God’s prophets. They had a lot of false prophets or scribes and setup idols as equal to God such as Baal. Just like how Elijah was succeeded by Elisha, John was succeeded by Jesus. Despite being unworthy to even tie Jesus’ shoe straps because he was given the Kingship of David, still John nonetheless Baptized Jesus like how Elijah gave Elisha his cloak. This is what was told to the priest Zachariah who was visited by the Angel in the opening of the gospel Luke (which is narrated in the 3rd Surah of the Quran). I think the jump from Christianity to Islam wouldn’t be hard for him so maybe he’ll be guided inshallah

However the Jews that came out of Israel believing that Jesus was God or an equal partner to God existed at that time. I would highly recommend reading the Gospel of Barnabas because this belief was something that Jesus spoke against in his lifetime. Even if we were to say that happened much later which I don’t believe it did considering the early Christian sources that shared this belief. Even then the 2nd Temple period of Israel was not as well recorded as its earlier history due to the many occupations. To say that Idolatry didn’t exist at this time can’t be done with complete confidence. Then we’re faced with the question of why was Israel killing prophets? If there were no idolatry Israel wouldn’t have been killing prophets. We could split hairs even more and say that worshipping your desire is Idolatry and obeying someone other than God is Idolatry (which it is) also the people who obey their Rabbis in preference to what God has commanded has committed Idolatry. The belief that the Torah is eternally uncreated is Idolatry, the belief that God has a physical body of material mass is Idolatry. There were major parts of the religion that people argued over in Israel such as the Resurrection! Jesus had this debate with the Sadducees in all accounts of the Synaptic Gospels (or at least 3 of them). They weren’t just legalists arguing over minute points of the law. Yes there were also extremists who were observing the Sabbath so strictly that doctors would let someone die because they couldn’t operate during the Sabbath. But Israel had much more problems than this. We could go even smaller and say that they committed Nasi by adding a leap month every two or three years in the Hebrew Calendar which causes them to observe the commands in the Tanakh on the wrong dates. Twelve leap months then you’re back on track but a year behind. Then the forgiveness of debts and other commands that are observed after 7 years are off. I could go even deeper but my point being (which I’m not necessarily sure you were trying to argue) but I thought I should still clarify was that Israel was by no means a guided people after their exile during the Babylonian era.

But the main point what this video shows is that we received Torah and Its explanation directly from G-d through Moshe, Blessed be his memory, together with 3 million people approximately And no one can explain or direct us in It's meaning exapt G-d. No other gentiles, such as Muslims or Christians Through all history Christians and Muslims were coming to us to correct us and say that we need to follow this and that. We never went to anyone. So let it be like this Keep Islam for other gentiles of the world, and everything will be okay. I just heard a rabbi say that there are contradictions in the Torah on purpose because it is a living thing, so even if there are two things that contradict each other and are saying the complete opposite thing from each other, both statements are true because it is living and the contradicting verse can be true at another point in time. Lol, I can see how this is probably a stretch on their part but it is interesting because although there are no clear or even vague contradictions in the Quran, we do think it is living and the Words in it transcend throughout the times.

Both have really good points. The snake part even if let's say Moses did make an idol (accidentally which both parties agreed on), but according to Salam because Moses made an idol he isn't qualified to be a prophet, but in Islam Jesus was also a prophet and still is considered that despite the contradiction with having made idols accidentally which birthed Christianity (Son of god & Holy spirit). SO even if the point he was making is correct then both parties are losing.

Let's look at Josh's question on Azr or Terach, the father of Ibrahim [عليه السلام]. Josh states that Terach is the father's name however many of the scholars of Tafsir agree on the issue and they state 'Azr was a babylonian word used to insult Terach or address him. So this is why Ibrahim [عليه السلام] called Terach 'Azr. Another explanation was due to 'Azr having a connection to the word Azur (one strong and does his job well) and due to Terach having a high position in Nimrod's court, like a vizier, he was called so. Same issue on Haman (meaning high priest). Now this opinion is a popular opinion however I follow the other popular Islamic opinion and I found it very plausible. That opinion is that 'Azr is how Abraham addressed his father and I myself hold to this opinion and this opinion does not mean that Terach is not his name. Rather in semetic languages one can change the form of the word to express love like for Eg. Abi (meaning my father) which can be turned into Ubay to express love or Ibni (my son) which can be turned into Bunay. So the word Terach, in some Jewish sources, Talmudic literature had Zarah for Terah, Zarah ending up as Azr due to the Semetic form change in addresses and Arabic accent like how Moshe became Musa due to accent. So perhaps, his name was Terach however Ibrahim [عليه السلام] called him Azr, just like how the Prophet's servant was Anas however he [صلى الله عليه وسلم] called him Unays. So his name and how Abraham called him could be two different names. I myself have an official name which nobody calls me with except my father sometimes. Nowhere in the Qur'an does it mention that Abraham's father's name is Azr rather it mentions Abraham addressing his father as Azr. (۞ وَإِذۡ قَالَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ لِأَبِیهِ ءَازَرَ أَتَتَّخِذُ أَصۡنَامًا ءَالِهَةً إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰكَ وَقَوۡمَكَ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ) And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said to his father: " Oh Azar do you take idols as gods? Verily, I see you and your people in manifest error.” [Surah Al-An'am 74] And due to this way of how Ibrahim addresses him so did the Prophet [ﷺ] and the rest of the Muslims started addressing him like this. If Josh has no problem with accepting that the cananite wives were actually one wife with different names expressing different characteristics and that the positive names was how Esau (or Edom a name change itself) addressed her, so too he wouldn't have an issue with the name of Abraham's father and how Abraham addressed him. If you're ready to use the Midrash to explain the Torah, then why do you ignore the Tafsir to explain the Qur'an. Note: I don't advise taking from Ali Dawah

@ristuach7895
@ristuach7895 3 года назад
@Yoel Cohen Romans being descendants of Esau seems like a metaphorical stance in the Talmud to describe the Romans as the enemy. If it was meant literally then that would deem Romans as Semites (Note: This word Semite is misused also but that is another topic) while Romans are Indo Europeans, as seen in their language. Esau's children were Idumean Semites that have assimilated into Jewish & other Arab societies. There is a lot of misapplied terms like Arab & Semite used today so this is a whole different discussion. Back to the point, in short if you agree that Esau's wife was in the same negative state in her life according to the scripture you hold today. Then why is her name changed since you stated that only when a personality worsens or gets better, their names change. Now you would give the same Midrashic explanation Josh did, so too could we do for Terah/Azar through an explanation from the books of Tafsir. You may say Esau only addressed his wife as so. We too say Abraham has only addressed his father as so. So there shouldn't be an issue with Terach/Azar's name just like how you see no issue with the names of that Cananite.

In response to the serpent made of brass. One could also say that about the stone of Mecca. We know that the stone of Mecca today, is not worshiped as an idol. However, Muslims believe that Abraham built it , and then the Arabs later on, before the time of Muhammad , started worshipping the stone as an idol. But then after Muhammad claimed that it was built by Ishmael and Abraham, then now today it’s not worshipped as an idol anymore.

Great discussion but there is evidence that the Jewish Torah was altered. The Dead Sea Scrolls of 1946 include the oldest known version of Deuteronomy, such version aligns with the Samaritan Torah not the Jewish one. So, until a new scroll is found, the most ancient source document is not even Jewish(Judah’s house), it belongs to the Kingdom of Israel(Samaria).

I’m Muslim. I think this discussion would have been far more beneficial if you both spoke Hebrew. It’s the equivalent of a non Arabic speaker trying to debate a quranic arabic expert on verses of the Quran. Without speaking Hebrew I don’t think we can fully understand the nuances of the grammar etc of the Torah and we all know that English translation is not the same as the original. Hebrew is probably a very eloquent expressive language (if that’s the right word) like Arabic so English most likely doesn’t give the verses their due right. I actually think his explanation for the plants vs man discussion makes sense. Also we must remember that we don’t know how much of the Torah is Allah’s preserved word so you could be arguing with him over something that came from Allah. We have examples like this in the Quran where Allah appears to say one thing in one place and another thing in another but anyone who understands the Arabic or who knows their religion knows they are not contradictory. So it’s not inconceivable that Allah could have used a similar style in the Torah. We know that Torah is from Allah so whether plants are before or after man doesn’t affect the veracity of the book. Jews worship in almost an identical way to us. We know much of their book is correct and we are not supposed to debate over any of it because we don’t know what is from Allah and what isn’t. I think what’s more important than finding supposed contradictions in the Torah is proving to Jews who are otherwise “Muslim” like us that Prophet Muhammad was a true prophet and that the Quran is from Allah. I mean where else did we learn to pray and worship like them. Where did we get such a pure monotheistic religion from that resembles theirs so much and has an eloquent book with unique literary style that no one can match to this day. Not the poets of Quraysh 1400 years ago and not the top Arabic language professors today. Where did an illiterate man in the desert 1400 years ago get this eloquent book from that detailed past events,predicted future events and has scientifically accurate facts in it? I think that’s the part to focus on. How do we worship the same god as them in almost an identical way with similar rules without having had a prophet to guide us. The learned Jews of Medina at the time of the prophet conceded that he was a true prophet. Some accepted his message and others said yes he is a prophet but he is for the gentiles. They even used to test him with questions about the past like the Dhil Qarnayn (Of two horns) (? Cyrus the great or Alexander the Great) and of the sleepers of the cave and Allah would answer them through the Quran. He provided them with answers to questions they thought he could never answer. The Jews of his time in Medina acknowledged that he was a true prophet.

What did God mean in the Qur'an when he spoke about the Torah? Is it a different Torah?
@Saifullah-cu6us
@Saifullah-cu6us 3 года назад
So we believe a Torah was given to Moses, but it's not wat the Jews have currently. If you look at manuscripts, the earliest Jewish bible is 1000years after the time of Moses. We can also see clear corruption and editions in the current Torah. Therefore as Allah told us in the Qur'an, we use the Qur'an as a criteria to compare, if anything agrees with Qur'an we accept as echos of God's word but anything that goes against the Qur'an we reject. I will give you an example. Torah says God is one and none like him, we have no issue with this statement as it's the same as in the Qur'an. But then something like the stories of the prophets it's been clearly corrupted. For example Prophet Lut (Lot) AS in the Jewish bible it says he got drunk and slept with his daughters. This something we will clearly reject as we believe prophets are perfect examples to humanity and this against what Islam teaches about the prophet. There is also the clear lies about prophet Ishmael and they way he is written about. There are many other issues but those some of them
