That actually turned out really good! The cygor brown/contrast medium actually works pretty well on horses especially for only taking a few minutes

Thanks for the vid man, they are always a joy to watch. I can see how the contrast paints might work for bashing out loads of orcs or ruffians. (and I am certainly going to use them for painting my skeleton hoard - guess which paint I will use) For me though they just don't work for heroes such as the bullroarer and certainly not for horses. I have many spare horses laying around so I might try using contrast with a drybrush over the top to see how the works for the horseflesh -although that obviously reduces the time saving. I suppose if I hadn't seen your other work I might have been more impressed with this model, but the "contrast" with say your Theoden model is quite stark. Sorry if this sounds a bit negative, I expect that with the fantastic job you did on the base it looks great on the tabletop.

I literally agree with everything you say man haha! Maybe the way I'm framing the video is the issue. These paint jobs literally take me around 40min per model. Theoden took me 16 hours haha So there's a huuuge difference, I've just had a lot of people asking for ways to get their models painted fast that are good enough for beginners and that's where I think contrast are great. I totally agree that for my showpiece models I would stick with my tried and true methods for 90% of them. Although I've got a really good feeling about contrast and horses. I just can't seem to nail them but there's hope! Stay tuned on this front.

Ignore all the haters mate it looks great and quick. Ill take a good paint job in a quarter of the time than a great one and unpainted because it takes too long

Haha very fair point my man! Yeah considering it took me about an hour it's not to bad. I will layer the horse flesh again at some point I think though.

It's nice to see painting tutorials and I very much appreciate the effort you have put in to doing these videos, unfortunately though I don't think the contrast paints are doing these models any justice and really don't look that good, especially on the horses. As a compromise why don't you try doing battle ready style paintjobs in the classic style instead? Nothing strenuous, simple basecoat > wash > basecoat on raised areas videos. Abit like the warhammer TV ones. It wouldn't take much longer to paint but would look 100% better.

Thanks for thoughts Ryan! Yeah they're definitely not as good as normal method but my god they're quick haha! I think I'll get better with using them too, but maybe I should do some comparison videos? See what gets the best result between two speedpainting techniques?
