Control Poa Annua & Poa Triv In Tall Fescue? Is This Real???

The price is ridiculous. No way will I pay $500 for 16 oz. I'll deal with POA before I pay that much

I came across Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide on DO My Own. This herbicide targets Poa Annua and Poa Triv along with other weeds. It is for use in cool season grasses like TTTF and KBG, etc. Priced at $120 for 16oz. Application rate is .46oz per 1000.

While $533 for 16 oz. may sound expensive, it is not if you do the math as Greg, Velocity PM representative, pointed out to me. His recommendation for my 1 acre lawn was .75 ounces per acre per treatment with (5) treatments spaced out 14 days apart per season for best results. That would require 3.75 oz. of Velocity PM POA for the entire season at a cost of $124.92 (less if lawn is smaller than 1 acre). note: I recently spent over $200 for one treatment of pre-emergent several weeks ago that doesn't even treat poa trivialis. Additionally, remaining 12.25 oz. would be used to treat lawn for each of the next (3) seasons to keep poa trivialis totally controlled. Greg said Velocity PM can be kept for up to eight years. If I can keep poa trivialis beat down for only $125 per year per acre, sign me up!

I have a bad poa annua problem this year, worse than the past few years for some reason. I would be willing to split the cost with you or multiple people. I live in Wake Forest if that helps. Love the videos. Keep em coming and God bless!

They have to come out with it in a smaller package. Kinda like mesotrione.. We are using drops per gallon of water.. 4oz bottle for $150 and I might be in..

This will probably be something useful to get with a 'split'. One person buy's a bottle and you buy it like you would Sedgehammer - where you buy a single-use packet or a couple oz.

Again good info--but that price!! I will stay on track with what I've been doing and simply dig-it out the Poa Triv and add top soil and reseed that area. That's approach has been working for me!!

I am fighting the triv with Annew PGR this year. It is supposed to put the plants energy into the roots and not top growth. I dig out what triv I can see in the fall but there is always some that I miss.

A tutorial on identifying and all options for “treating” the poas would be great IMO.

QUESTION: How do summer applications control Poa Annua, since that dies in the summer anyway? To stop the cycle don't you need to kill it just before it produces seeds in the spring?

The rate is .5ml per 1000 sq ft. So 1 oz will cover a tremendous amt of applications. Keep that in mind. I went in on 1oz for 50 bucks.

Time is money. I have about 30% Poa Triv invasion on 5 acres of TTTF. Spraying is simple. Other remedies are VERY time consuming! Anuew, used in conjunction, seems like a no-brainer.

For everyone complaining about the price: you must also take into consideration this bottle will last you several years and more. This only requires 0.25oz per 25 gallons. That’s 0.01 oz PER GALLON. 0.75oz per acre. That’s not much at all. And with it being the only product on the market available for residential purchase, it’s actually a good deal and you absolutely get your money worth. So, think about paying $530 for a long term investment to “turn your yard around”.

Need to drop price a lot more! If so I would definitely give it a try.

This is good stuff for homeowners who want to rid this from their lawns at ALL costs. I am on off those homeowners. Unfortunately I have a mostly KGB lawn and it only "moderately safe." I need someone to test on their lawn before I try. Also, why don't you create a fund site that we subscribers can contribute to for you to test. I for one would contribute so you can grab a bottle to test.

You could always go in with several people to make these things more affordable. Even more if it's effective. I did that with Mesotrione between me, my sister, and mother. Covers all the properties.

533 is totally reasonable considering what it originally costed.

Anuew PGR is the better cheaper way to go to get rid of POA Trivialis. I have had good results over the last two years.

You talked about cool-season grasses, will it impact warm- season grasses negatively?

The 16 oz bottle used to be $699 so, yeah, $533 is cheaper. I could go for a 8 oz bottle if they had one, don't need 16. If anyone wants to split one, let me know.

I’m in Durham, NC and I can’t get this stuff out of my yard to save my life. Ive tried my stuff and hire Eastern Turf Maintenance and I’m hoping that they can kill it this year with the product they said they came up with.

If I did the math correctly when I saw the guy from the company that makes it, the price is expected to be around $533 for a 16 oz bottle. With all of it I am seeing I might have to bite the bullet if I can convince my wife lol. It did sound like it could hurt KBG and I renovated with GCI Turf Cool Blue which is 85% TTTF cultivars and 15% KBG cultivars.

I hope they come out with smaller bottles. I would never use 16oz

where can i find that calculator you are using @11:34 ? oh and to answer your question , i think i would get it even at 500, with 16 oz i can spray my front 4000sqft lawn 70 times. and if i miss time my preemergent and still see tons of poa i'll use this and i'll share with the neighbors. as i believe their poa seeds get blown into my lawn because i find it the most by sidewalks and edges of my yard .

This sounds like the miracle herbicide. You sure this isn't an early April Fools day prank? Ahhh... You just got to the price. $533/bottle. I think that I might just get a paintbrush and some round-up. I have to say that my poa problem isn't bad enough to spend the $533. If it was everywhere in my lawn, then maybe.

I was letting everyone know (and asking if i was wrong) that the fusilade burns grass because its 22% more potent then Ornemac 170 and the active ingredients in both are the same. Fusilade just needs to be broke to a much lower amount of product per gallon then directed in order to make it as weak as ornemac 170 which makes Fusilade very much more afoordable imho. Yall look into it and let me know if i am wrong. Ornemac 170 contains 1.70% active ingredient and Fusilade contains 24.5% of the same acitve ingredient!! How many bottles of ornamec could you make with one 32 ounce bottle of Fusilade?? What say yall?
