Hi so there's this show about turtles who also happen to be ninjas...
idk how this will do so im gonna hold off on writing out my entire au lmao

EDIT: Oh wow, this is CRAZY validating to see people liking this so much. I'll talk about my au since so many people have asked
Draxum kept 2 of the turtles (Donnie and Raph) and Splinter got the other 2. Donnie and Raph basically grew up in a stricter regime as you can imagine, and Donatello was HEAVILY favoured by Draxum. Raph definitely has daddy issues because of this.
Don and Raph LEFT Draxum at a super young age (around 10 year old equivalent) after meeting Splinter, Leo, and Mikey and realizing that their family is WAY more stable and comforting to be around.
This animatic takes place in the first AND last episode of ROTTMNT season 1 in accordance to my AU; Donnie is "reunited" with his dad (who he still loves) and Leo struggles to come to terms with the fact that Don can still love Draxum as a father while still being his brother. There's a lot of family dynamics in this au that I'd love to explore in different ways (more animatics probably). Don't worry, it's not all angsty!!

I feel that Mikey and Leo would definitely have meaner thoughts towards draxum if they were raised by splinter. I’m also guessing Donnie loves draxum because he was favored.

I like to think Draxum and Donnie think alike in some degree and that would be even more obvious since he was separated from the fam except Raph. Raph probably felt left out and therefore a reason why he'd be more inclined to betray Draxum and stay with his other brothers. I'm not sure of his relationship with Donnie, but it would be nice to see them interact whether for angst or hurt/comfort purposes. Cause' let's face it fluff for this kind of AU might have to take a backseat until after sh*t blows the fan...

You know, this actually makes me question who would've been the better father for Donnie whe they were growing up. I mean, yes, Splinter is occasionally a good father, and yes, Draxums evil, but they have two opposites to the kids. Splinter probably would have been a better father to Raph, Leo, and Mikey, in this scenario, because they have enough traits of Lou Jitsu to get noticed. Strength, (raph) flamboyancy (Leo) agility (Mikey) and when you put Donnie in there, he doesn't quite fit. Because he has traits more from draxum. Intelligence, with a mix of slight mad scientist, put in there. This would obviously give him more attention from Draxum, and less attention from Splinter, simply because he isn't interested in those things. whereas with his brothers, it's the exact opposite. And if Donnie had to chose between having a father who loved him for his mind, and unique abilities, Vs a father who loved him, but didn't get to know him, he'd probably choose the first one. anyways, sorry for this rather long character essay, I shall take my leave. I feel like Draxum would have been a better father TO Donnie-in the sense that Donnie would have been happier if he'd been raised as Draxum's son and protege. Draxum would have understood what Donnie needed in a mentor and would have nurtured his talent. And he absolutely would have given Donnie the attention and praise that he desired. But I feel like he would have been the worst father FOR him. Donnie already has so many issues with empathy and impulse control. Draxum would not temper that and would give him the tools to make it all 1000% worse. He would have a very hard time figuring himself out and feeling happy with himself outside of Draxum's lab. He would not be a confident and well-balanced adult. Not to mention that, considering what Draxum literally made him to do, he would end up doing some very terrible things.

@@chihiroisabelle8680 Same. I think he’d be a good teacher and caretaker physically speaking, and he’d really nurture the science-oriented aspects of Donnie’s interests and personality. BUT! He’d be a TERRIBLE parent. Or, at the very least, a terrible father.

I am in love with this. I really like Donnie and Leo’s movements. They feel like how they’d act. We didn’t get to see much of Mikey or Raph, but I’m interested in seeing their half of the story animated. Another thing I’d like to note, Leo’s shoulder shimmy EEE! Why do I love it? I love it.

I love the moment Leo has, even though Leo hates Draxum, he’s important to Donnie, and Donnie is important to Leo. Leo sees he’s upset and doesn’t think twice after that. Love that visual storytelling

I feel like Donnie (in this concept) would have a lot more love for Draxum than Raph would considering how he was shown more love by Draxum than his older and least favored brother was. Honestly, I fail to understand how the favoritism didn't turn Donatello into a spoiled brat that lived to rub Raph's face in the "Dad loves me more than he loves you" trash heap. I have been watching too many text-to-voice story videos about entitled people and about how favoritism destroys families.

Donnie never saw the favoritism for what it was, he genuinely was so young during all those years that only raph really remembers the BAD parts.

I think it would be because favoritism isn’t exactly what is happening and its more like Draxum puts more stress and tasks to Donatello but he praises him more for that and Raph feels Donnie is the favorite but instead Donnie actually has no idea what to do or how to tell anyone bc Draxum would have told him that is the LEAST he can do to be USEFULL and that this is WHY HE WAS MADE that it’s the bare minimum and reminding him that 24/7 and if by any circunstance Donnie thought “Why me and not Raphael?”(I don’t really think he would think that but i’m not quite sure) Draxum would be like “Because he ain’t flawed like your softshell” And if Raph tried to talk to Donnie to ask him if he was okay or to even tell him how did HE felt Draxum would call him weak by having or expressing feeling

OMG THIS IS SUCH AN INCREDIBLE AU IDEA- this animatic is so fluid and flawlessly well done- everyone feels in character and Donnie’s history with Baron makes sense especially since he doesn’t want his dad to get hurt 😭

Draxum favoring Donnie would make sense, since the first time they met Donnie was the only one who really landed a hit on Draxum. They were all pretty much rookies in fighting a really strong entity, yet Donnie managed to land a hit. Donnie has potential and Draxum see's that more than he sees his brothers. It would also be a win win senario, Donnie gets advanced alien tech while Draxum gains a warrior

This is so COOL!!! Question!! QuestionS! How come Donnie is favoured over Raph, as Raph is the big strong one? Donnie is usually the weaker brother, this is even in the show. Does Draxum prefer Donnie due to his intellect? ALSO is this a fic or comic I could read somewhere? This concept is BRILLIANT!

Raph DEFINITELY is the bigger and stronger one out of the pair, but he's also the most hesitant to actually hurt others for no good reason. He's got a pretty good moral compass (Being with Drax didn't change that about him), but DONNIE.... Donnie likes being chaotic and creating new weapons. Drax likes Raph for his strength and intimidation factor but he Loves Donatello for being smart and cunning. Besides, Donnie can fight pretty good with his tech!

I love how Leo agreed to save Draxum despite disliking him, and when Shredder threatened to crush them both, he got slightly in front of Draxum to protect him, because even though he'd rather not save him, he knows hiw much Donnie cares about him and that makes him worth protecting at any cost.

One of my favourite parts in this is that after seeing how destressed Donnie is at seeing Draxum in danger, Leo doesn't protest any further and just goes into action. Because at the end of the day Leo wants to protect and care for his brothers under all those jokes and he's not going to be the one to sit back and let Donnie cry like that when he can do something (and the fact that Donnie asked him to help). It was such a short moment but to me it felt so in character and just showed the brotherly bond so well! Thank you for sharing your amazing creation!

Oh my, this is gorgeous!! The story is so well thought out and I read some comments asking about the lore, this is so well thought through, and then the song choice is so nice!! The expressions are soooo GOOD. Like when Raph was hurt when Draxum told him he expected better things from him, Leo took his defense or when Donnie cried, because Draxum was about to get killed, Leo rushed to save him. It's like the actions makes sense, because of the expressions the characters made. SOO GOOD!!😍😍
