Control - Sankarin Tango | Reacting To Video Game Music! 

Sankarin Tango stands for The Hero's Tango. This song is basically about the protagonists from Alan Wake, Quantum Break and Control, three games by the Finnish game studio Remedy Entertainment.

Fun fact: the protagonist of Control is ALSO called Jesse

Remedy (the devs of Control, Alan Wake, Max Payne) are the reigning kings of diegetic music in video games. When you hear a big musical pop-off in a Remedy game, chances are your character is hearing the exact same music as well.

"No setting, nothing." Yeah, that's accurate. This song plays when you first visit a place the game labels as "Nowhere." It's off the map and very mysterious. You get there by following the janitor, who is actually the singer for the song. It comes on the intercom as you travel across a vast chasm in a cable car, presumably he recorded it and set it up that way himself because he's just that kind of nutty - and clearly knows a lot more than he lets on.

Fantastic track. Turns out the singer is actually the actor and voice actor for the character this song comes from; Ahti.

"Sankarin Tango" actually means "The Hero's Tango", which is fitting since the song is about the protagonists of Remedy's games. "Suomalainen Tango" is how "Finnish Tango" is said in finnish.

Martti Suosalo has such a powerful voice. You should listen to his another Remedy game song from Alan Wake 2, "Yötön Yö"

I picked up Control as it was a free PS+ game and an online friend had said positive things about it. So glad i did.

Wait what?? This song is actually in the game and is sung in Finnish??? Now that's rare. That's REALLY rare. And a tango no less. Nice!! I'm unable to play Control so I didn't know. The lyrics actually match most of the Remedy games as it actually feels like everything's stacked against the hero all the time. Always a big obstacle to get through only to find a new one like there's no end in sight.

The person who wrote the Lyrics Sam Lake also the Creative Director at Remedy which mean every game at Remedy he wrote it too. Max Payne 1 and 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Break and Control.

In Alan Wake (2) specifically, you are NOT going to know what's going on. And this song, despite appearing in the game Control, is about Alan Wake much more than it is about Jesse Faden. Playing the games will explain more, but you are still going to end up with as many questions as answers. Anything Finnish in the Remedy games universe is probably going to be related to Ahti somehow. Ahti is a janitor and the games really really want you to know that he is Finnish. But it's implied that he is also something else which has not yet been adequately explained, not even by the FBC. Ahti: -is Finnish -is ostensibly a janitor -refers to Jesse Faden (Control) as his assistant, which is ironic for two contradictory reasons, making it even more ironic -frequently code switches, speaking in Finnish, English, and Finnish aphorisms IN English -appears in both Control and Alan Wake 2 -is on your side, according to all available evidence -may be omniscient -likes to sing -appears specifically in places he logically shouldn't be able to get to -shares his name with a hero or sea god of Finnish legend -etc.
