Direct visual and gameplay comparison of the recently released "Control" and "Quantum Break" on the PC, both with and without Ray Tracing enabled. #Control #QuantumBreak #Comparison
Control was a very, VERY pleasant surprise for me, I was expecting nothing from this game and OH BOY, I'm glad I was wrong about, awesome game, congratulations Remedy
Remedy aren't game makers, they are story tellers. And they know how to bend the boundaries of their games to fit their story. Even the tropes of their games are written to put something from a book (Alan Wake), a tv show (Quantum Break), or a physic abuse (Control) into their game, just to make the gameplay fit the story perfectly. The gameplay of their games is always sync with their stories. Look how the slowlyness of Alan Wake is just the same than reading a book, how the quick'n'stop rhythm of Quantum Break is like watching a TV Show, and how the movements and interactions in Control is like... A video game. It's impressive how they use a common support to mold it into something new, just to put their stories in adequacy with their gameplay, and all this without breaking the 'rules' of the initial support, or breaking the basic 'rules' of gameplay. They are truly geniuses.
@@EggEnjoyer At some point, yeah, like when you are reading a good book. There are times when you read normally, and others times when the book becomes so interesting, engaging, that you forget to breathe, that you forget everything else around you. And, the next moment, you roam freely, exploring the details, following the story, or reading the lore is the menu.
@@DWAC I loved the tv stuff but damn it was such a huge game! Therefore a very lengthy download. If they had just not tried to pull the wool over our heads it might have gotten a sequel but people were pissed when they found out the graphics were downgraded. They didnt even xbox x enhance it! Great game though. I still love it. The grainy scenes when you move too fast is a bit upsetting.
Quantum Break is THE MOST underrated game of all times ! It was short in story ! YES ! But the game is amazing ! don't know why people dislike the game
The combat and gunplay were great, as expected from Remedy, and that was it. The time manipulating abilities had much more potential for interesting gameplay but they didn't utilize it.
I played Control for the first time without expecting so much, now is one of the most favorite games I've ever played. Story is nice, technologies are incredible well achieved and scenarios are just stunning. Very pleasant to play, play with objects and offices are extremely de-stressing. 10/10
Good game but it made me feel alone at times 🤟🏾 would give it a 9+ if it had like a funny companion on your side at all times but I guess it's an 8.5 for me.
Control is trash and forgotten. Poor sales and no interest in the worst gameplay ever seen. Control is trash and so is remedy. Can't wait until they go bankruptcy.
@@TheREALHugo4 perhaps your thinking is trash? Wishing for yet another cutting-edge independent development house to go out of business and for people to lose their jobs and livelihoods, while trying to make something that the fans will enjoy and simultaneously supporting their families is EXACTLY what is wrong with the gaming community and makes gaming culture so toxic to begin with. You ever wonder why people look at gaming and the people who play them as immature and out of touch with reality? You're response may be a good answer to that quation.
Playing Control was a real treat. So much detail in the environments! I love how they're destructible too! You can tell a lot of work and passion went into making these games, and it easily became a favorite. So good! And the connection to Alan Wake made it that much better!

Hey! Great comparison! But you didn't disabled upscaling option in Quantium Break, so it was running in 720p upscaled to 1080p. That is the reason why QB was so blurry. Keep up good work!
Whenever Remedy releases a game, it has some of the best visuals, physics, gunplay, sound and story on the market. Max Payne 2 is one of the best looking games from the 6th generation, with compromises needed to fit the game on Xbox and PS2. Alan Wake is one of the best looking games on 7th gen (aside from some blocky character models), that was on improved a lot on PC. Both QB and Control are some of the best looking games on 8th gen. Control on PC even more so.
@@Legion849 RTX only makes the game look good visually in the lighting department. The textures are pretty much the same and the other stuff is outdated. So that doesn't really compare because we're not making an RTX-only comparison.
Always appreciate the work you put in these detailed comparisons. They are very interesting, keep up the great work and never stop, we need you to showcase how graphics in games improve with each passing year
Being a tech nut it always drew me to it but I was turned off by the live action "episodes" breaking up pacing, I loved control tho just looking for someone to give me a solid recommendation on quantum break
Sometimes I watch game reviews and whatnot from different channels because I like more perspectives on a game I might be interested in. But yours is the only game review channel I'm subscribed to. These 'Direct comparisons' are well-made and fun to watch! Back to the topic at hand, Control's sounds appear to be more 'closed' and muffled to my ears than Quantum Break's. As for the visuals, Control is (of course) better, and as you say, flames and explosions seem a bit more realistic. Keep up the good work, Nick!
@@bullykojima3232 lol. Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. First two max payne games were developed by remedy and third max payne was made by rockstar. Which one you like better? The first two parts were masterpieces. Damn, i still remember that piano song. It had amazing theme, story, characters and music and it was dark which i loved. Max payne 3 was just meh. It didnt have good story or dark theme or whatever. Gunplay was fun, but story was nothing special. Thats why people want remedy to make and not rockstar. Also i would rather have max payne 1 and 2 remade like resident evil 2 was than to have max payne 4.
I personally loved both games, both had amazing graphics, a well written and solid story and to top it all off with smooth gunplay. I don’t know why people didn’t like quantum break, really fun!
Lol, Control sold less copies than any recent Far Cry games, which have been super stale and reskins of Far Cry 3. Even the games that aren't very well received make more money than Control lmao
Hey man! Great video, just a little sidenote, in Quantum Break the upscaling option on, somehow reduces the graphical quality, i´m no expert on technical aspects but looks better with the upscaling turned off. Keep it up! i loved the F1 direct comparison! Cheers!
Quantum breaks combat was so fun! I remember being able to stop time for a little bit, and it felt like I was Quicksilver. I haven't played any of Control yet, but I want to try it out.
your channel is one of the best for comparison, nicely done video once again ! And what the hell with film grain ? These 2 games are grainy enough even without film grain lol
For quantum break, it has some weird upscaling on pc that's turned on by default. This runs the game at a lower resolution, but performance is so much better
They're okay. Some of them are cool in the beginning, but by the end of the game it throws enemies at you that basically ignore all of your powers. Then the game fucking sucks.
JZStudios Damn, that sounds awful. I was thinking of picking it up because Control runs awful for me despite meeting the recommended specs. I also love games with time powers.
@@jgsource552 No. I haven't played Control to directly compare, but it often takes your powers away from you. QB also has a time freeze bubble that you "shoot" at enemies, but for some reason I could never use it reliably so I ended up just never using it.
Control is probably the biggest 180 I've ever had playing a game. I really wanted to like it, but just couldn't get into it much on my first attempt. Revisited it later and ended up falling in love with it. There's definitely still stuff in it that annoys me or just stuff I think could be better, but overall it was a positive experience.
Quantum Break was one of my favorite Xbox games when it released. Still is. Underrated in my opinion. Control has been very fun too. Really like the physics.
Thanks for an interesting comparison between these two games. Quantum has a better sound where gunfights are concerned. Not so much in that the sound is more realistic, I think both games are pretty much equal in that respect, but Control's gunshot sounds during fights sound as if the shooting was recorded in a concealed space. The handgun in the Control scene almost sounded as if there was a weak silencer attached to her gun, and particularly the last scene sounded as if it was taking place within a different kind of area with bullets ricocheting off walls made of different material than what was present in the space where it took place in the game. I think it was the middle part of the Control shooting scenes that sounded as if there was a slight echo sound that wouldn't have been in such a space in real life. I agree with your take on the closeup details of their faces and, of course, their hair. However, there is a certain weakness that goes with so much visible clarity of a game character's face: It is easier to see what is missing in making their faces look completely real. With a blurred picture as we see in Quantum Break, we don't get a chance to point out what is missing in terms of detail realism. And what's more, when we play the game we don't watch pictures in still or slow motion, we are too busy with anticipating the following pictures that appear to be in motion (because the time between each frame is so short). Finally, there are the jumping motions. Yes, the player character in Quantum Break appears more clumsy in some of his jumps, but this also makes him appear a good deal more realistic than I think is the case with the Control player character. There were times in Control where it looked as if she had been moved a bit ahead in frozen position during a jump, to allow for her jump to seem farther than it could possibly have been in reality. __________________________________________________________________________________ Edit: Corrected the indentation between paragraphs issue that still persists.
I am Subscriber of Nick930 Channel from November 2018 .. Nick you are Doing very Good and I Love your Videos .... I beat Quantum Break last month and now I'm 5 hours into Control. The game is a beauty with Ray tracing turned on. I'm playing with all the settings maxed at 4k. Both games are great and underrated.
I beat Control, LOVED IT. Realized I've owned QB yet never beat it. Just beat Act 4 and loving that too. Control definitely is in upgrade but depending on what kind of gamer you are would reflect your preference. I think I had more fun with the Quantum Break battle system. Saying a lot too. Although as a whole, I prefer Control.
It’s so cool to see remedy’s genre range. From action noir shooters like Max Payne 2 to the Haunting Survival Horror game Alan Wake and now Mind Bending Sci-Fi shooters like Quantum Break and Control.
Quantum Break >>> Control. I have both on Steam but Quantum Break’s powers and the background music just make me play the game again and again and again.
But it is more realistic that the barrel explodes immediately on impact which it does in Control. Hence why there is not as loud "aftershock" in Control.
The fact that Alan Wake, Quantum Break and Control are in the same universe is great! Especially since the FBC (Federal Bureau of Control) has been introduced. This creates so many possibilities for new characters, new powers and new world settings. Can't wait to see what Remedy brings out next.
@Kattos _ yeah but I mean they probably won't fund the second game since there is not a 100% chance that it'll succeed, its too much of a risk for remedy and Microsoft
1:12 yes, the upscale Option was on, which makes everything really blurry in Quantum Break. It can be used, but for a Model Detail Comparison not using it might've been the better choice. Specially since you have DLSS disabled.
I am currently replaying Control. This games makes me interested to play QB and revives my interest to play Alan Wake series which I only played briefly.
@@matthewsmith1779 unfortunately it's not the case. I found superpowers in QB are rather too gimmicky, and it's basically a shooter game. I admit the story is interesting. I may revisit the game sometimes in the future.
@@eriol33 The Powers in QB all flow together. You can use them at the same time. There are skills for when an enemy is close, skills to rush-down enemies, and skills to escape. With Control, the only useful power is launch. If you max out launch and health, you don't need anything else. You barely even have to use your service weapon. Also, the enemies in Control are much more annoying in the fact they spawn out no where from anywhere in the room. I can't count how many times I seemingly "cleared" a room of enemies only to have an object fly out of nowhere and take out 90% of my health. Death usually follows soon after. Control has so many cheap deaths. Cheap deaths seems to be a part of the core game play mechanic of Control. The story of QB is a lot better as well.
@@matthewsmith1779 I think you just arent good at the game. What proves this is saying launch is the only good power then claiming the game is full of cheap deaths
I recently got Control Ultimate Edition, and it was pretty awesome as hell, nothing I expected. Of course, I enabled Ray Tracing because why not? I've been meaning to check out Quantum Break and am looking forward to Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake and Control 2.
Thats why those looks soooo alike!! I didnt knew they were from the same dev, are the games plaved in the same universe or multiverse? It would be cool if they consider that or if they aready comfirmed it. literally found out about this game yesterday, it looks great
I was skeptical at first after seeing some gameplay videos. But one of the biggest improvement is that the cutscenes are finally 60 FPS. On Quantum break even the realtime cutscenes were 30 FPS locked.
Control gave me the Star Wars next gen gameplay experience before EA. The presentation seems so clean and minimalist at first but it's the most chaotic Remedy has been. It feels a joy to play man
Before I played Control Epic gifted it twice.... I finally asked my siblings whether it was a fun game and gave it a shot. I'm glad I did. I love it! I'm getting a bit of Stranger Things vibes with adults. So not pure horror, but actually a thriller. The type of genre I prefer. I dislike horror.
It's always great to time sprint directly into the enemy or making a time bubble around them and unload the whole semi-auto's magazine at it. The only bad thing in QB, imo is the shooting mechanic, if you're low on powers to use, it really becomes not fun to play.
