I am unclear on the timing...Would the D man do an escape turn if the pass is not made to RZ2? Otherwise I could see him either being too far into the corner or having to stop completely while F1 gets to RZ3&4. I would be interested to see if the timing would work with D tight turn and then hit RZ3 or RZ4.
Yes. I like the drill, if we did it maybe some of the forwards would learn to stop leaving me with a forechecker on my back and no passing options. But I would still leave out RZ1 because I wouldn't want any of the d-men to pick up bad habits that they might repeat in a game.
As a d-man I always trust the forwards and I am not afraid to pass it up to any of them. But I would never pass into RZ1, I would rather throw the puck around the plexy than pass it into the scoring zone... Infact I would rather face a challenge behind the net and potentially lose it there, than risk losing it right in front of the crease.
