You select any device in Ableton and the controller syncs to that device and displays the linked encoders and buttons. Everything is ready to be controller and valued are synced to Ableton. Yes, you can navigate tracks and devices from the controller too.

While the 2 devices have some overlap, the MP Controller has 32 physical endless encoders and a touch screen dedicated to controlling third party plugins, and now Ableton native devices. Controlling devices via the MP Controller is easier/faster as you have every parameter in front of you ready to be controlled (64 controls per page, 4 pages per device). Each touch button is highly configurable so you can have different styles of control (ie pressing one button affects other buttons, momentary, toggle, send value on release, keep sending values when pressed). You can hide the buttons of your choice and can assign icon/image to each button. Many have both devices Push and the MP.
