With your headphone splitter plug, there's a difference between splitting stereo into left and right, and another kind which just duplicates one stereo jack into two identical stereo outputs. The first kind results in different signals on the ring and tip, which is what you want. If you use the second kind ( like you'd normally find on an airplane) you'll get gate and pitch both going to the tip, which is not normally what you want.
As a former Roland System 100 owner, I have to say while the Korg Volca Modular has its own, distinctive sound, it is an absolute beast and sound so good, while being small and relatively inexpensive. The lack of MIDI isnt much of a problem if you have another Volca (I have the excellent Drum synth and Sample 2). Just use the 3.5mm cable to sync it to a Volca with MIDI in.
Nice video and thanks for showing the use of CV in. There is also a Mod to use a MIDI thats onboard but has no plug. Who know why, just space or 10cent savings.
Hi excellent tutorial I tried to control my modular volca with my Roland Fantom 6 but I Didn’t get communication between 2 devices do you know some way to test it ? 😊
Thank you so much for the sub and the comment! It's great to have you here! I've definitely had some issues with tuning on this synth too! Try this out: If you hold the FUNC button down and turn the RATIO knob, you can tune the oscillator. I would recommend patching the SOURCE output directly into the SPACE input, so that the synth continuously generates a tone. That way, your hands will be free to tune using FUNC and RATIO. Hope that works out!
Next time I'm on an international flight? I might be retired by then, lol! We are not even allowed to leave my country (Australia) at the moment! Seriously though, those little 3.5mm stereo to dual mono adapters are plentiful on eBay, Amazon etc.
I think i just broke its pitch patch point from the primary oscillator. Any CV i send to it seems to deliver a kinda LFO with a vast amplitude and a high rate... :C damn man... so much effort for nothing. I opened it, saw the pcb noticed no burned trace. I think the dupont patch socket just got stressed for inserting these dupont cables. I just have 2 years with it fuck, now i Hate it. Hope I could change it for a Volca bass
