Honey Sweden have only sent two good entries between 2015-2023. The only exceptions are Loreen and Måns really. The rest have been average (2017,2021) or just straight up terrible (2016,2018,2019,2022).

One common point that is people get wrong is that the Eurovision is supposed to be based on EBU members, not European countries, That's why all the Mediterranean is allowed to participate, Including Israel.
Personally speaking, if they could do something like they did the the global tennis series, artists from Israel/Russia should be able to compete under their own name (identity) without associating with the highly controversial nation

Isn’t one of the requirements to participate that you must be from that country or at least have cultural ties with it??? personally, I don’t think that politics should get in the way of artists who have worked on their craft for years sharing it with the world- the government of one country doesn’t determine the people. either way, I can see valid arguments on both sides, we can only see what happens next!
This is a contest were artists literally represent their country and therefore its government. If you want any artist to be able to compete then create a new contest

I definitely don’t think they should be removed, but they should have less power. If they stay the same you have entries which are complete trash like Sweden’s from 2018 and 2019 somehow making the top 10, and other entries like Greece 2018 actively getting sabotaged just so they don’t qualify because the juries just decided they didn’t like them
I personally think that artists have nothing to do with wars. Why they should be penalised by something they haven't done and in any case they have 0 responsibility of ?
I think it’s a bit unfair to expel Israel based on current politics, similarly to how I think it was unfair to expel Russia. Just because their country’s leader has decided to engage in war, doesn’t mean artists should ridded of the chance to represent their country and its culture. After all, a normal Israeli is not Netanyahu, and a normal Russian is not Putin. Regular people should not be held accountable for actions undertaken by their authoritarian government. It’s really a shame that people are using this to politicise Eurovision.

I think the juries should definitely stay, but it should be a 60-40 weighting, with more power to the televote. That way we still get a professional opinion without countries like Italy and Sweden being inexplicably propped up almost every year for basically no reason (despite sending some horrible entries). I would love to see as many of the Balkan countries come back as possible, but my pick is Hungary, from 2017-2019 they finished in my top 10 every single time. As for Israel it’s a difficult one, personally I think they should go, or if they stay then Russia should be brought back.
1st of all, Don't compare Russia and Israel. They aren't in the same situation at all. 2nd, Stop over exaggerating. Italy got a higher Televote score 5 out of the last 9 years and got very close 2 other years. So you are both wrong about them being propped up and about them having 'horrible' songs. And Sweden wasn't much worse.

Second of all, Sweden literally sent absolute garbage in 2016, 2018 and 2019 and even in 2022 as well yet they all reached top 10, and three of them top 5 when all 4 realistically should have finished in the bottom 5 of their respective years

The purpose of the jury I think is to give way to people who know what good music is that most people can agree on instead of a niche music like rock or cha cha that has a specific fan base and also to give leverage to smaller countries so that they actually matter
It's not like "good music" is actually objectively a thing and the jury people aren't in any way musically trainee, so I don't know why their opinion would be more valid. Also why should eurovision reflect the prefrences of those that don't bother to watch it or vote? I also don't remember seeing them helping smaller countries, usually televoters vote more indiscriminately. One big issue with the jury is that they're easier to bribe and bring in a bunch of points, because it's 50/50 (they've been caught before, but I doubt we caught all the times bribing happened). I mean just knowing that the jury is such a small group of people with the same amount of voting power as the bunch of viewers from different countries doesn't seem right to me. Who is the jury good for other than ballad singers?
I don't think Israel will be kicked out. Russia attacked another European country, Israel did not, so I think Eurovision will try to remain neutral in that aspect. (I am not saying wether it is right or wrong. Merely looking at it objectively)

What a shame. Israel has been with Eurovision since 1973 and gave one of the best performances of all countries. Songs like A-ba-ni-bi, Hallelujah, Diva, and Toy are well loved globally. I want to see Israel in Eurovision, simple.

EXACTLY, I genuinenly don't understand the jury, not like they have any musical education criteria to be there. Like genuinenly why is their vote worth more (it's more when you consider the amount of people voting and that being scaled to 50/50). Plus they're easier to bribe.... Fishy imo
@@ellem8990 only having a televote would make the contest so much worse. Many more countries would send crazy songs that try to win the televote, most of which wouldn't end up being that good. Plus they are all professionals in the music industry, also its not 50/50
@@Gfynbcyiokbg8710 I was under the impression that the jury aren't musically trained (although I didn't find anything saying how tight their criteria for "musical background" is), because some of them have given odd explanations for their voting, but ok my bad. Even musically trained people don't agree on music and it's still subjective largely and I don't understand the need to have music be "pure", if the people enjoy it. I can turn on the radio if I want to hear that stuff. I've been watching eurovision long enough to have seen the only televote years and I prefer that. I've actually gone back to watch recaps of those years, because I started to question if I was just misremembering how it was (of course trends change so some things are outdated by today standards). I'll take that any day over the ballads and basic radio friendly songs we get with the jury. Also the video mentions the 50/50 split (which is why I brought it up) and as far as I know, both televote and jury give the classic 12, 10, 8 etc, so that would be what the 50/50 split refers to.

It must consist of five members from the music industry (singer, DJ, composer, lyricist or producer) and must have a fair balance of age, gender and profession." But I can't find any offical source that says the same. And talking about prefering the 'televote years' as if its an argument is just nonsense. Eurovision has changed so much since then and a televote only show nowadays would likely look very different to what it was then. And the split isn't 50/50. Even if you disregard the televote only semi-finals, there is still the rest of the world vote and some weird other quirks. The jury system isn't perfect but removing it wouldn't make anything better
Israel should never have been in the contest to start with, they have been occupying the Palestinians land and doing illegal settlements for a long time. Of course Hatari exposed the bias and hypocrisy in 2019 when they had to toe the line to not be disqualified from the competition. @@leiva3364You clearly don't understand the EBU. 1st of all, Belarus was suspended months before the war because they repeatedly violated EBU rules 2nd, The EBU tries to be as apolitical and uncontraversial as possible, they don't really care about a war or conflict unless the public does. So they always favour the status quo over anything else as it means not actively supporting a side. 3rd - Russia Russia wasn't going to be suspended at first. But since many of the EBU's members wanted Russia to be suspended, the EBU did. This was the least contraversial option as most of Europe didn't like Russia for the war in Ukraine. 4th - Israel Here the situation is much more complicated. Israel wasn't the one who started the war and public opinion is very divided over if Israel is to blame or a victim. Therefore like I said in point 2, keeping the status quo is the most neutral the EBU can be. The EBU is being consistent, it's just that the circumstances are so different between Belarus, Russia, and Israel so it appears that the EBU is being biased.

But where do you draw the line and who should draw it? An ruling from an official court would take years expecially from an international one, NGOs have varying classifications and biases, etc. It just gets too complicated
Going by your logic; France, Italy, Germany, The UK, Spain and Portugal should also be kicked out of Eurovision for violating human rights in their respective colonies. And also, every country is allowed to participate if they can afford joining and obey the EBU’s rules.
All countries outside europe shouldn't be allowed to compete at ESC like Australia or Israel tho I find Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan are european countries. EDIT: Or even football where in the EM (Europa Meisterschaft) where they let Kasakhstan play too!
Sweden sometimes genuinenly has good songs, but the issue is getting placed high even when you don't and the songs are cookie cutter. I can't remember when Sweden sent something that was good and actually interesting, not just safe and radio friendly.

the difference is Ukraine didn't attack Russia civilian first, unlike Palestine HAMAS who attack Israeli citizens first. So Israel is different than Russia. Russia is aggressor while Israel not, at least in this war. (not include Israel longtime occupation)
