Impressive podcast today very appreciative because this issue regards communion on the hand is major issue of resistance I have found with my N.O. friends. Is it sentimentality blocking them from acknowledging facts? Or just because they are steeped in heretical errors and so compromised by continuing to worship in the erroneous post vatican 2 liturgical changed New Order rite? But in my limited experience, the N.O. Catholics are the ones to attack those of us who even suggest kneeling on the tongue traditionally. It's a touchy topic so obvious to us attending TLM. We are called to accept the grace to know better and do better. So those who do know better but choose not to do better 🤔??? Well, I dont judge their hearts, but God will.

In my Church in England we have very many officious women who elbow the priest out of the way,I call them , "Mrs popes" they are prideful and very often bullies, I'm afraid I bully them back, and I'm also proud of the fact I have never received from their unconsecrated hands! The devil works in iniquitous ways!

In my parish we have no Eucharist Ministers… only by the Priest Also our Pastor frowns against taking communion by hand, I would say 99% of parishioners take communion on the tongue

@@edwinmalachy no such thing as a lay "eucharistic minister" At least learn the proper language of the Church. They are properly called extraordinary ministers. Only a bishop priest are real eucharistic ministers.. as they are the ordinary ministers of The sacrament.

I just got married in the church today and told my pastor I often went to a church where we received Communion on the tongue and on the knee at the MISSION OF DIVINE MERCY IN Tx... the priest that married us said he would provide a kneeler at Mass to receive the body on our knees for those who wants to.... Please ask your priests to provide that at your church!!!!

Communion in the hand is the will of the devil, those who participate in this abomination, are servant of the devil, Communion in the hand is the highest sin in the world a direct attack on God. This is actually a perganic act in the church, the novus ordo mass in its self, is a big danger to the catholic faith. Communion in the hand is a sacrilegious sin. The giver and the receiver of Communion in the hand are automatically excommunicated.

I would love a kneeler but was told it was up to our Bishop. Get his permission and we can do it. I only receive on the tongue. I was taught by hand. I had the pleasure of having a priest who explained why the mouth because our hands are not blessed. I would like only apriest as well to give communion .

I have never nor will I ever accept communion on the hand. I was taught as a child that to touch the host with my grubby, un-sanctified hands was a sin and it has remained a sin to me…I don’t need any more sins in my life. I was born pre 1962, watching from Australia 🇦🇺. thank you Dr Taylor for all you do keeping us informed.

@jameskerrigan2997 Yes, a clean mouth as long you're not engaged in malicious gossip or other sins and have attended confession before Mass. Ordinary people are not sanctified to touch the body of Christ in the Eucharist.

That was beautiful, Dr. Taylor. Beautiful. I spent my holy hour today at home in front of our family altar with pictures of the Divine Mercy, Holy Face, a Crucifix, & statues of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St Michael & the Holy Infant. But NOTHING, NOTHING replaces His real presence in the Holy Eucharist. We should ALL kneel before Him Who loves us so very much & STILL suffers for us because of our sins. May God have mercy on us! May He be praised, loved & adored EVERYWHERE! May we all return to Holy Communion on the tongue. Kneeling.

Thankfully Holy Communion is given at the rail kneeling if you can, and placed on the tongue. There is NO other way to receive Holy Communion, thankfully in the Church I attend this is the norm. Ave Maria.

As a child I was taught to receive on the hand and not that I can completely blame the church for this, but I do believe it’s part of the reason I left the church and also because I had over the top teenage rebellion. At one point, I was agnostic and then later became protestant and was literally trying to break down the “Hail Mary” prayer to expose its “evil” and through this process, I was so very blessed to find my way back home to the The Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and now attend a church with a former Episcopalian priest who became Catholic and offers mass in the more traditional way by turning his back to the congregation during the Eucharistic Miracle and he brought back the kneelers and to my knowledge only gives the Communion on the tongue. He is an excellent priest and the entire church feels totally different than other places. I have been that are far more liberal and I’m so very thankful to have found this church my way back home one and only Catholic Church. Thanks to the Almighty God and our precious Mother Mary!!!!!! AVE MARIA!!!✝️💙🙏🏻🥰♥️❤️‍🔥♥️

About 5 years before I found TLM(because of you, Taylor) I had this realization that … “this IS GOD, why am I touching Him” and I quit receiving Him in my hand in NO. THEN, I found TLM… and everything seemed to smoothly fall into place!

I regularly take in the mouth, but I abstain from taking it kneeling. I really wish alter rails were placed back in Churches to receive kneeling while on the tongue. Once when I was walking down the communion line, and was in a quasi meditative state, the person in front of me at the last moment, dropped to their knees and I nearly tripped over him. I was lucky I did not hurt myself. From that day, as much as I would like to receive on the knees, I know parishes are not set up properly for this to be done safely, so I receive standing.

Would that take 2 priests? Our 2 priests have 4 parishes and a Newman Center to shepard so it would be next to impossible to get to all those masses. Also the parishes are 30 to 40 minutes apart. And if one can’t physically kneel, should they just not receive?

@@DeborahMcgee-t8c I was told in RCIA as a sponsor, that bowing before receiving is a new custom that popped up the past 15 or so years and is not in the rubric of the Church. I have stopped doing it, since I have been corrected.

I have never taken communion on my hand and never will and a few weeks ago I went to communion to an Arch Bishop who is a Papal Nuncio. Glad to say that he happily and very naturally put the body of Christ in my mouth. We would have had an embarrassing moment had he refused !

I found a TLM church in Logan hieghts San Diego Ca a couple of months ago Dr Talor. Wow! what a difference, I'm hooked now. One can even see a difference in the priests. It's a beautiful thing. The respect that our Lord is given is the way it should be. 10:07

I remember as a girl when our church first allowed communion in the hand. The idea terrified me.. what if I dropped it? That's Jesus; I wasn't worthy to handle Him that way! It took *years* to try it. I ended up leaving the Catholic church several years later. It absolutely takes away from the faith! I have returned recently, but I take communion on my tongue. The mass has changed so much over the 20+ years I was gone, and it feels empty. 😢

I went to mass a couple weeks ago (mind you, I don't attend this church very often because they lean left, but due to some committments, this time worked), with that said, I will NEVER attend there again! I always receive on the tongue....I approached the Eucharistic Minister (should be a priest) and opened my mouth and she tried to get me to open my hands, I said "No" and opened my mouth again, she again refused and tried to place Our Lord in my hands...again I said "No!" And opened my mouth, I made her put the host (Our Lord) in my mouth, she carefully did as if I was poison. As an Eucharistic Minister, it is expected that some will want to receive in the mouth. It should ALWAYS be by mouth and kneeling. This is the sign of the times...we need to keep praying!

The church I grew up in and that is closest to me geographical, is sadly very similar as far as leaning left and I’m thankful that has not happened when receiving Communion on the tongue but I was raised to receive on the hand there and I think it’s part of the reason I left the church because I struggled to believe it was really Him as a child and teenager. THANKFULLY, I have found another church not too far away that has a former Episcopalian priest who is married BUT he does Mass the traditional way by having his back to the congregation during the Eucharistic Miracle and only gives Communion on the tongue and he has brought back the kneelers and there is a totally different feeling at this church! We were invited this past Sunday to all go out back and they had the most beautiful Mary procession and the whole church was invited to say the Rosary together and it was one of the most divine experiences of my life! 🙏🏻♥️ I hope and pray you can find another church that is similar, and I’m so sorry to hear that you were denied the Body of Christ! Makes me want to pray for you and all Catholics who struggle with this as well! AVE MARIA’s are being sent up for you and them now! 🥰🙏🏻♥️✝️

@@SarahAnne44AVEMaria Thank you Sarah! I live out where it's rural so there are only so many churches near by. There is a church that is fairly close that I like but the issue is its part of 4 churches that have been restructured as a church family with 4 priests that rotate weekly between the 4 so I try to stay aware weekly so I am not attending with one of the priests that is very liberal. But the church I was talking about above also does not have kneelers, and I am the only one kneeling, nobody should be standing during the Consecration!! I went because it worked out, but I cannot in good faith go back, so sad.

@RoachMartel They receive training to assist the priests in communion distribution, especially at large parishes....what a blessing you do not have to deal with this....I always try to go in the line to receive from a priest only, but there are times its a challenge. In my liberal diocese it's all over.

was in the pew with my wife a daughter.. My daughter tapped my leg and pointed to the ground under the pew. there was a consecrated host on the floor! I dove for him and picked him up off the ground while mass was going. Im holding him in my hand sweating like hot potato. I finally signalled the priest and deacon. they briefly stopped mass and came down and got him. In hindsight i prolly shouldnt of touched him but told my daughter to never miss an opportunity to pick Jesus up off the ground

I was raised in the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church and I remember receiving first communion kneeling at altar rail on the tongue. I'm now Catholic and receive on the tongue.

There should be a ban of Communion on the hand! I will only take it on my tongue from now on and on my knees, even if there’s not a kneeler! I receive Holy Communion on tounge and never will never take Jesus on my hand. I cover my head with a mantila, I dress up for a mass. I do believe in the real presence of our Lord, especially in our churches. My husband, who was received in the Church last year also receives Holy Communion on the tounge. Doctor Taylor Marshall, spot on! There isn’t any respect, for the presence of our Blessed Lord by not kneeling and by taking Holy Communion in the hand. I see the Priest, genuflecting during the Holy Mass! That says a lot to me! His hands are consecrated and has the right to handle the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Blessed Lord. The Catholic faith has been watered down, a lot by introducing Holy Communion in the hand. I was six years old when I first received Holy Communion on the tongue while kneeling. Snap, I was in my seventh year also, I still have my First Holy Communion dress handing in my wardrobe! In my parish we were only allowed to attend Benediction ,learning to be quiet and reverential before Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament, prior to our attending Mass in top infants in preparation for First Confession and Holy Communion, Miss Priddus, taught me,God bless her,and the other faithful Catholic teachers, what have we today? Very little! St Thomas More and St Edmund Campion pray for us!

I was never comfortable receiving on the hand. It was St. Mother Theresa that prompted me to receive once again only on the tongue, and on my knees... there is no kneeler, and I am a few months short of 70 years of age. Well, the knees don't hurt, and I feel in my soul that My Lord appreciates my act of supplication. Bring back the communion rail!

My wife and I are 2 of the 16,000 people who were polled. I pray that communion on the tongue becomes the norm again. We all need to pray because even our children in their thirties, who grew up only ever receiving in the hand, are wildly resistant to communion on the tongue. Because it's "embarrassing or uncomfortable or weird". We are working on them, but welcome any prayers on our behalf. But please don't pray just for us, pray for all of the generations that have never been catechized properly, thanks to sloppy education. Bring back communion on the tongue and the communion rails. Bring back the reverence.

I wonder in that sample of 16,000 how many of them are really that aware and understand the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. So many not taught and or reminded. They receive it like it’s a cookie.

I have always said it my oldest children first 2 learned to take it on their tongue my youngest too there was a jab had a choice thank God say they knew how I felt about the reference off the body of Christ. my grandchildren didn’t have any choice and children all want to be like their friends. Amen 🙏 I also used to take the communion by hand in my teens and I thought it was ok, but during the pandemic I realized the importance of receiving the Eucharist with utmost reverence, not by the hands but on the tongue. Most of all receive it with love and from the heart because truly it is our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist is Who we are receiving. Amen.🙏

Congratulations on your silver anniversary! My husband had inherited some funds from the sale of his brother's house. We were able to pay off some outstanding debt, but on our 25th anniversary, we paid off our house. I am a convert and I felt I was Catholic in my heart, but did not become Catholic officially until the Easter Vigil after we were married. We were married by a priest in our Catholic church, but no mass because I was not Catholic yet. THANK YOU for this channel; it has helped me become a better Catholic.

I grew up Lutheran before entering the Catholic Church. We received communion on the tongue once a month while kneeling before the altar rail. When I entered the Catholic Church it was unnerving to receive communion in the hand.

My Uncle by marriage was a high Anglican,his Welsh Church ,appeared more Catholic than the Catholic Church, what a shame,they had the appearance without the faith,we used to have the Faith without the appearance.I believe now most Catholic churches have lost both Faith and Appearance, no wonder they're empty! My brother n law, an alter boy, got his hands hit with a ruler, because the host was falling to the floor and he caught it. He quit going to church when our parish church started putting the host in their hands. This is crazy!

I remember growing up in a Catholic school with the Church next door in the 1960's and 1970's having to remember to take a mantila to Mass, AND NEVER EVER going into the altar steps or near the sanctuary! I vividly recall in the late 1980's being called up on to the altar steps to cross into the choir I demurred and walked all the way around to reach the choir from the side chapel,when asked why I replied it wasn't my place as a woman to step into the altar ! I was a pretty good singer but was asked to leave by the choirmistress,why, I instructed a talkative child member to remain silent during Mass! I knew at that moment all was lost! I think the choirmistress also learnt this after divorcing her husband and moving out of the parish! God bless everyone, at least we'll all be together in hell! St Thomas More and St Edmund Campion pray for us!

In good old NY communion in the hand was implemented earlier by 1970 .Out of 10 children in my family the 1st five of us were" old school" Traditional Catholics and stayed with our faith the second 5 only 1 remained and 1 returned later.( so far).

I stopped attending a specific church in my area. As I approached (it wasn't the priest but the layperson) I kneeled down, and opened my mouth.. she was shocked! She literally tried to shove the Eucharist in my mouth, missed and it fell to the floor. I fell to my knees and screamed. A person like that has no business any where near the alter.

I often feel that many Catholics stumble in their understanding of Jesus Christ as being both God and Man! As Man he his our brother as God he is our creator from this fact we receive on the tongue! Very often we excuse ourselves from reception as we are not in a state of grace! I weep at the large crowds,albeit getting smaller,standing to receive and the two or three pensioners at confession! I stand while receiving Communion on the tongue because if I knelt I would not be able to get back up again. I am amazed the expressions I get from some priests when I stand there with my tongue out. I even have had a Eucharistic Minister refuse me receiving on the tongue. The excuse I received when questioning a deacon on this was that she had a Hygiene problem with it!

This is me exactly. Even after my wife became a Eucharistic Minister, I still received only on the tongue. Naturally, I always try to receive from the priest, but once or twice, I ended up receiving from my wife - which was very odd indeed!

We need to just offer more Latin mass & encourage NO Mass goers to come along to witness the traditional form. I am sure they will discover the mass they prefer & NO mass needn’t to be what was originally told to the laity it would be…an English version of the Traditional mass (or I assume whatever language of the country you live in). It was never supposed to remove so many rubrics of the traditional mass…so they need to be returned to the NO mass. I doubt that will happen while this Pope is in the Vatican.

It's frustrating that Taylor Marshall, amongst many others, continues to quote St. Basil's letter 93 without simply reading a couple of sentences further: "And even in the church, when the priest gives the portion, the recipient takes it with complete power over it, and so lifts it to his lips with his own hand." References to taking with your own hand in the early church are typically references to self-communicating i.e. getting the Eucharist oneself from its place of reservation/altar etc. rather than from the priest's hand, to your own, and are not referencing communion in the hand vs communion on the tongue. You can see this precisely in Basil's letter 93 that Taylor Marshall selectively quotes here.

Brilliant message ... I asked my priest, some years ago, how he squared his attitude, behaviour general demeanor around the Holy Eucharist during mass and at times of adoration.. I suggested any non believer viewing both events would surely consider them to be celebrating different things.. Yes, the Novus Order priests still like the trappings but most are devoid of the faith! About this time last year our parish organised a Mass for all the persons in the Parish that had died in the last year, we went and watched as at each name a candle was lit BUT no prays were said for their souls,in fact,the word soul wasn't mentioned!I queried this with my friend who's husband had recently died, she agreed the priest hadn't mention the soul or purgatory or prayers or masses for the dead or anything constructive! Then the penny dropped, this was an ecumenical service,for believers and non believers! What a waste of time! These priests need their butts kicked!

I'm glad I stopped receiving the Holy Communion in the hand about three years ago for good even before joining an FSSP parish. But I'm even happier when I moved out of Novus Ordo, period! Every time I had to get Holy Communion, I have to plan ahead what I needed to do in order to avoid the lines of non-priests but also to time it so I could get in that line if I was at the last pews in the back otherwise I would get the Holy Communion from a non-consecrated hand. That was not only inconvenient, but also awkward...and I had to do it almost every Sunday!!!! Now I don't even have to worry about which side of the Church I should sit or how far back since regardless, like in the old days, I receive the Holy Communion by consecrated hands ALWAYS and kneeling with a patina. Praise be the Lord!!!!

As a candidate in RCIA (Novus Ordo), I’ve been blown away by the sheer reverence and biblical significance to the liturgical order of the Mass. Communion on the tongue is in my mind reflecting that degree of reverence by humbling yourself down before the altar and receiving the full presence of our Lord and savior. It’s a physical reminder: “Lord, I am not worthy…”

Yes, Dr. Marshall, I feel that touching the Eucharist is disrespectful. You know if you reached out and touched the Ark of the Covenant back in ancient times, and you werent a Levite, then you would die. And now the Holy Spirit dwells in us - but it is through Christ that the Holy Spirit comes to us - so it makes sense that it should be through the hand of the priest that the Eucharist enters our bodies. (I know that both our hands, and our mouths/bellies are equally parts of our physical bodies), but it's just different handling it versus receiving it. After all, we don't really reach out and take Jesus; we receive Him. He touches us within our hearts before the acts of our hands are sanctified. So, yes, I think it's better received directly from the priest standing as a representation of Christ, than by our own hand. We arent our own priests.

My Novus Ordo parish is a lost case. They even have one of those extra large covid-era style Purell-type disinfectant dispensers in the main aisle so that those who wish to receive communion with their hands can use it first. And LOTS of people use that dispenser, probably more than those who receive on their tongue. Edit: nothing wrong with having hand sanitizer available at church, but the setup feels like they are encouraging communion on the hand (yuck), which honestly makes sense after you have just shaken hands with random strangers during the sign of peace (double yuck).

To be perfectly honest, that's probably what I would do. Just use hand sanitizer first. I have never and will never receive communion the tongue. It spreads germs, which is disgusting. I know I'm in the minority here, but I still thought it was worth posting my thoughts.

One day as I left the Church after Mass I noticed a Sacred Host in the Holy Water bowl. Everybody was leaving and dipping their fingers in but not one bothered about that sacrilege. I brought tge bowl to the priest in the sacristy and he was very sad to see that and he thanked me. I was sorry afterwards that I didn't say to him that wouldn't have happened if he gave Holy Communion on the tongue.
