Do you know anyone who suffered from a brain contusion?

My friend had a cyst rupture in his brain. Is that a hemorrhagic stroke? It was caused by getting hit in the head, though the bump was minor. So I guess I'm the one with the question for you lol

I was in hospital for a 6 weeks monitoring a potential brain abscess due to halo neck brace screw going an inch into the brain.

Any injury that puts pressure on an area repetitively can cause a contusion. Falls, blows sustained during fights or from falling objects, and car accidents may also cause bruises👍

after my work accident, i did not get a ct scan for six months and was turned down by neurologists four times

Still suffering 3 years after a tree crossed the road. Feels like having a mild hangover, but was send to a psychologist instead of a neurologist. Didn´t have the presence of mind to correct that. Finaly payed for the MRI myself. Nothing found, but the symtoms persist. I´ve been told the affected brain cells remain dead, but the neurons find other pathways.

Hello, Alex'! Very informative video. Could you please explain the use of dexamethasone for TBI. Thank you.

The CRASH trial showed higher morbidity in severe TBI. That's taken as the gold standard but meta analysis wasn't possible. There have been instances when we have used it selectively and not in severe TBI. Hence why we said you may be offered... we have quite a large audience and can't know what's offered everywhere!

Yes I fell at least 50ft headfirst and cracked my skull open I had blood transfusion through blood loss they operated and had to have another operation as I had brain fluid leaking from my ears and noes I was left in a coma I was lucky because if I had been any older than 5 I would have died but I did die 3 times. I suffered brain damage and was in hospital for 6 weeks they asked me at 8 Yr old to have a mental plate in the front of my head because there is no bone there im now 39 I have a worst form of fibromyalgia and a few years ago I am suffering from a bilateral frontal lobe gliosis I would like to get research done so they can learn from me I went to pinderfields hospital in or near Sheffield I hope I helped anyone about my injury

I've had a couple of subdural hematomas due to tearing of bridging veins ( I have NPH ). What is the difference between this and a brain contusion. ? Thank you for such an informative series Peter

Intresting, I was taught that steroids where a myth and actully increase mortality without decreasing ICP. I am guessing there is a difference in outcomes after a CT is done?
