Well said. He is so soft spoken to. I always feel like singers in alot of bands kind of put on airs or do a voice but to me him and barney from napalm death are among the ones that you feel that its just their anger and pain coming out like a primal scream. Not to get too hippyish. Hearing them gets me fucking pissed off but in a totally happy positive way if that makes sense. Like the feeling you get when listening to discharge.
In vein and valor Be what they fear Their days are over Our nights are here With hate and heartache I'll strike you down With rage and rapture I crush your crown No more gods No more graves No more love No more hate Hell hammer comes down Onto their blade Our world of widows Needs to be saved It's now or never Victim or victory Rebel or regret Who you are and who you claim to be No more heroes No more No more In my world of enemies I walk alone
Thank you, even though the vocals are so fast and can be hard to match up with the words, or they aren’t actually singing the lyrics it’s still nice to know them :) gives me more feeling to the song
I'm kind of torn between thinking this is profound or HC Punk cliché. The message certainly fit the time though, with the US being very much engaged in two wars at the time. It certainly would have been cool for the lyrics to be a little bit more intelligible :D.
You can't be serious lol. I love metal, from church burning Norwegian black metal to satanic death metal, but Converge just sound like noise with no melody to me.
Definately one of my favorite heavy bands, what a solid Discography to boot! If one ever gets a chance to talk to Jacob, he is the nicest gentleman, oozing with integrity and class.
What is not to love? I always name drop these guys as a measuring stick for people who reference "punk"as the basis of their incredible vast musical taste. "Yeah... they are not like Pennywise... well have fun at your Bettie Page Convention."

Me too. I especially like the part where the guitars go “WAAAAAAAAAH WANG CHUG CHUG” seriously though this is probably my favorite band solely because of the lyrics and artwork the frontman make and the guitarist is actually sick as fuck
Most people don't get grind, it took me years to appreciate it. Now I listen it all the time, this is like a tasty mix of grind, sludge/doom and progressive, I love it
***** that's disrespectful man! "If Jacob Bannon's voice were any different, then Converge would never be as good as they are" you obviously haven't listened to their new record "All We Love We Leave Behind"
It's totally distorted and bent, but if you listen really closely you can hear a clarinet! Just amazing. They ask, "How is it done? What should we do?" And then they just make up their own rules. Just killer, one of the most interesting bands in America.
Often I've heard Converge called one of the best bands making heavy music. It's really hard to classify them. Their technically not a metal band. They're more grounded in the hardcore scene. In a few interviews they've used the word 'punk' to describe the sound of some of their albums. Whatever they are, their awesome, I couldn't give a shit beyond that.
@BleedTheBlind No Heroes is essentially that there isn't much left to live for, there's no true heroes left in this life of ours; he's speaking to his fans, it's up to us in some sense. When he's saying "our" it's a reach out to the listeners, not band members of Converge.
to haters out there....its quite hard to find such an intense show like a converge one, seriously if u have a chance ,see them live ...and then ,dare to comment...
The music behind the band name and the album art is what kills me every time. It's hard to get used to this kind of music, sometimes you feel it's too much, too overwhelming, but that's art. Not just cool sounding name and album art. Maybe that's not your cup of tea, but you shouldn't say that it's unlistenable.
OK thank you punxdeadmyass, i understand now, but im studying music so i knwo quite alot and i can tell you with certainty that the singer is not singing a melody, BUT i do understand the whoe anger feeling thing.
sounds cool man. we're more messy and less quiet, and when we do go quiet it's like horror movie soundtrack type thing. come play in Nottingham, the HC scene here is huge.
people who say converge is shit REEEEAAAAAALLLY dont understand at all. you dont havta like it, heck i tried listening to these guys several different times ova about a year and i hated them and couldnt understand it, then one day it just clicked and it all made sense. they are THE BEST hardcore band in existence
Yeah I didn’t really get why people liked Converge so much until I listened to You Fail Me, it just clicked and now I absolutely love all of their albums
@grahamzandah i understand what your saying but these dudes are so talented to be able to play what they create... converge have an epic sound and a real view of how hardcore once was...
Well, it's better than the Eagles Become Vultures video for sure! Absolutely amazing band, they just keep progressing and getting better. Going to see them in July, fuck yeah! It'd be crazy if Old Man Gloom were to tour with them =P As insanely improbable as it is! Poor Nate!
@Seifter16 I can agree with you there. I have this album, Jane Doe, and Axe To Fall, as I've really tried to get into them the past couple years. I'm not saying it was a lost cause, as I do appreciate their skill and no holds barred chaotic outlook, but it's just not something I could listen to purely for enjoyment. Extremely talented band though, without a doubt.
