Michael Martin and Tekken queen Kana "Tanukana" Tani of Team Cyclops catch up after her spectacular showing at Combo Breaker to talk about her career as a pro Tekken player.
@@ranielcunanan5362 I think hes talking about how in translating the English he keeps the same tone and pace she used speaking, rather than just blandly and flatly translating the words
Yoko Yamashit speak is easier then writing ... some ppl just had short circuit of a brain ... why ? because ppl always asking for a f**king Dub to watch anime ... that's the main reason why ppl like that always bite their nails seeing other ppl that can speak JPN is jealous like a cat hungry .... I didn't mean to be brag ... but 50-60% of her words I already know before it got translated by the translator .... I never study languages ... all I did is watch JPN ANIME in Sub way not In DUB way ...
lol, then maybe the advantage of dub is to better understand what the characters are saying on their own native language. you might as well ask for an english dub next time you watch an interview since your english grammar on this comment section need some improvement. :D
Tanukana is cute af. Btw that Translator is extreamely talented. He understands Japanese enough to properly display the emotional meaning behind the interpretaition & not be bland with the translation.
Sarah Yang that depends on who is listening to you. The only reason people are finding this impressive is simply cause they dont know japanese. If someone that doesnt speak english is listening to you speak english, they will usually find it impressive lol. Although I would find it amazing regardless if you know more than one language :)
Well basically it's the US fighting gameplay, our famous french commentator Ken bogard always love to poke at the USA community by saying "Those guys never know the guard button" xD
What a gift it must be to be fluent in English and Japanese in the FGC. Understanding hype Japanese commentary perfectly is the ultimate privilege of being in the FGC in my opinion, yet nothing beats a good PokChop match or an Aris commentary.
Syducer this is nothing new. Ryan Hart of the FGC lived in Japan for years and he translates in Japanese and English for his commentary and he's been doing it longer.
Syducer im watching this video again to improve my Japanese comprehension skills. Language acquisition and learning Tekken have a lot in common. Go hit the lab.
I'm learning Japanese and this video is a gold mine for studying. I get to hear the questions in English first, repeated in Japanese by this excellent translator, and Hear the answers in Japanese and English also. Please do more interviews with Japanese Tekken players!
as everyone said.. damn translator is really good , he knows what he is translating and is even making it fun for japanese speakers . tha part when the question was about tanukana's ex vs pro gaming where he mad like his own version of how the ex would've spoken.. LOL
Great choice of questions. Except after saying that she's very passionate about gaming in general, I was wondering what other types of games, if any, she plays. Also great job to the translator.
I would destroy her in any video game she plays. These professional gamers can be legit, but there are so many people that aren’t pro that can beat these guys. It happens all the time, but kudos to them to be able to capitalize on it. Let’s be real, her being a cute female definitely helps her. All these creeps out here looking for cute gamer girls has elevated their stock and it isn’t based solely on their skills. If she was that badass, she wouldn’t have been fired for her comments. Instead they canned her and she will be easily replaced.
not looking for the typical girl/woman who does homework, make the dinner and stuff, not even interested on the typical relationship when both have to sleep together when day is over, i have a non ordinary days and work, so is super fine to me having these queen playing the same amount of time of me working, and then in the middle of the week or in the weekends i will delivery a delicious dinner and after that make her "plays" a real fighting stick game with love of course :V
20:19 Translator didn't translate this for some reason but Kana-chan said "I'm a bit weak mentally though but I'll do my best (laughs)" She's so adorable, and her laughs make my heart melt~
The important takeaway here is: The translator's skill is off the chart. After this interview, there's a good chance he's gonna get some hello kitty love. Lol! 😙
Americans can't read properly, it's very common for them to be unable to read subtitles because of their reading comprehension. So subtitles are never in any interview if they can get a translator and have long unecessary pauses.
www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/06/illiteracy-rate_n_3880355.html 14% of the population cannot read. 21 percent of adults in the U.S. read below a 5th grade level and 19 percent of high school graduates can’t read.. Nothing is changing, no improvements. It's only getting worse. Facts hurt ameritards.
I also really enjoyed the interview and found it very interesting. Although I know he's nodding because of it is showing his attention and so on I really love this because it just looks so strange when you keep in mind he doesn't understand anything she is saying at this moment ^^ keep up the good work!
I love her advice! 19:42 Two important things are necessary: 1. Have a strong mind set. 2. Be prepared to play games so much that normally you might start hating them but you have to keep playing. I love that "love playing games" wasn't the number 1 advice and also that she didn't just say, "follow your passion" :)
Honestly watching her and all that makes me want to try and get into competitive fighter again. I'm really enjoying tekken 7 so far and I feel like if I keep practicing for these next few months I can find a few characters that are worthy of tournaments. (((:
This made me think on how my first girlfriend wasn't a fan of games and is part of the reason why we broke up she wanted me to quit playing, but my 2nd girlfriend (then) and now Wife is hardcore in to tekken GG skullgirls and MK we have been together since tekken 2 now our 14 year old daughter beats our brains in on Tekken she's a little upset *Actual*Bruce Irving isn't in 7 not a big fan of jose rebrand but she's still a beast with Heihachi and Jin life has come full circle xD
Uchiha Madara same with my wife. but when we started seriously dating, she came over to my place and saw my game systems and saw MK and said I'll smash you in Mk. lol and I said yeah right. till this day being together for almost 12years and married for about 5 years she never let's me forget that day when she destroyed me. lmao but barely.
I wanna be like that translator! I can probably do that in Tagalog and English, but probably not at that professional level, and there's no need to. Impressive work. Hoping I can do it with Japanese in the near future.
Idk how i got here but i watched this whole interview with this girl i've never seen before. Didn't even know Tekken had pro tournaments, guess i should've assumed.
If I could, I would like to mirror match her one day if I ever get matched up with her in a tournament. She plays with Xiaoyu so gracefully and fluid. And it's nice for a change to really see more female Tekken players besides myself. I am a huge fan and what I love the most about her is that she's humble.
Great translator. Noticeable American accent, but very fluent and does an excellent job at translating the essentials without losing the overall meaning.
