• Math Antics - Convert ...
Some decimals are easy to convert to fractions - you just put the decimal over a suitable multiple of ten - and then simplify from there. To do the more complex decimal to fraction conversions there is a trick, which involves some very easy algebra. Learn how to do this and you will be able to convert any decimal to a fraction.

Mate, you're a genius! Taking fractions, decimals, percentages etc and explaining them in a super simple, understandable way! I am from England and used all the techniques I learned from your channel to help me pass my QTS Numeracy test. I can now become a teacher - so, big up to you and thank you!!!

ANY single repeating number will be itself over 9 as a fraction and this process tells you why that "trick" works. ie: 0.3...(repeating) = 3/9. Any two digit repeating number will be that number over 99. ie: .4747..(repeating) = 47/99. Three digits would be over 999. ie: .234234...(repeating) = 234/999. Great videos.

This is very cool. However, I should mention that the last problem was not broken down into simplest form. Since both 24 and 99 are both divisible by 3, then 24/99 would break down into 8/33.

I love your math tricks! This makes everything so much easier and simple to understand! I only just discovered your channel but do you have a series teaching pre-algebra , algebra 1 ...etc for kids just learning that stuff? there must be tons of easy tricks to make it all so much easier that they don't teach us in school and I really want to know! Math was hard for me because the teachers seemed to make it so complicated with long, confusing equations, but your short tricks are just so simple and logical and it makes it all so fast and easy!

Great tips and so easy to master. For decimals that don't repeat, I cant believe how obviously simple the solution is. After playing with the repeating decimals, I realised a pattern that eliminates the need to do the two equation method. Here it is: However many digits repeat, take the first group and put it over nines of the same number of digits. eg, 0.1111... = 1/9, 0.12121212... = 12/99, 0.123123123123... = 123/999 etc then if possible simplify further eg. 0.3333... = 3/9 = 1/3. However there's a situation I cannot work out. That's when the repeated numbers are not right after the decimal. eg. 0.12222... How do you work that out?

If 'terminating' means the answer concludes, and 'recurring' means the same number, or sequence of numbers, repeat/recurs ad infinitum, then what is the term for an answer of which does not repeat/recur/resolve (eg. 123. 1029384756 . . .)? Thanks
