this is a great content. we all have at least 3 old labtops that just became outdated and stopped working. to make screen as monitor for present laptop, that,s great. and other parts if we can do something to get some of our money back or good use out of. so great. thank you

This sata cable is Good for about a year and a half of constant use ,but it will break, my sata cabke didn't break completely but the access light connection stopped working, it can power the hdd, but without connection to transfer files, I tried the cable with multiple drives and it was the same. My recommendation is to buy 2 or 3 of these sata cables, so when it breaks from constant use, you have a quick replacement for any emergency.

Them adaptors these are only £3 $5 to buy. I buy them all the time I just converted one on a 3.5 hard drive 12-volt. I used a old 12 volt power supply Or can just buy one £1.50 $2 Only need to solder two wires. And it will work for both hard drives 2.5 & 3.5 inch

There is only "SATA to USB 3.0 cable with power supply USB and data transfer USB" in my location. So, it has two USB cable coming out from the SATA at the other end. Is it okay to use the laptop 2.5inch SSD with only data cable connected with the one that I mentioned earlier. Or do I have to plug both in? Because I have been hearing that some laptops are having issues when connected with the mentioned cable.

Do you have a video to show how to format the laptop sata drive and do a reinstall of Windows 7 Home Premium? Problem is that laptop won't boot or access the bios settings but boots to Mfg (press Esc) section. It came with windows 7 home premium and I have the product key but no instal disk but I have a legit W7 Home P. on a desktop with product key too. Laptop has 250 GB and desktop has 1 TB ????? BOOTMGR is missing from the laptop...Will it work to CLONE the desktop to the laptop drive OR download win7 to the laptop drive with it being connected to the Adapter via USB cable???

hi do you look at the comments anymore here? it's been a couple years since you post this... i have a laptop that gave out on me, won't turn on. i was going to try to take the hard drive out. if i do this will it be possible for me to get my data off the drive? you're showing here how to reuse old drives but this would be the same type thing, just plug it in and my data, music, movies, photos... COULD still be there? should i invest in this cable, only 8 bucks... is it worth a try? think it will work??

Yes. If you buy the cable, you can plug it into another computer and access the drive. You'll just have to navigate to where your files are on the old drive and transfer them to the new computer. Once you have all your files backed up onto the new computer, follow the steps in this video to turn your old hard drive into a fresh external hard drive. If you plan on using the old hard drive in this way, you'll want to do that since it will have all kinds of useless operating system junk on it from your old computer.
