I came up with this video for the people who misses the analog outputs on newer TV's. All the links in the video are below Here's the video on the stand that's at the end ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8htC_zf5Ovw.html LG Televisions DAC 2022 Updated Video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ArlQIGwEUOk.html Everything you seen in the video. The Sony DVD/radio sound system doesn't have the optical just the RCA red and white. Yellow for the video which is in the back of the TV. As for the Android box it has HDMI, 3.5m av slot like a phone. And the SPDIF. I have a splitter from a 3.5m headjack to a red and white on the sound system. I have sound and video coming from tv with HDMI for and Android box. I just don't have sound from tv to sound system.
Steve, I am planning a new TV purchase. This video was helpful, but I do have a question. You mention in the set up process the TV speakers need to be turned off to enable to the digital optical output. Is this required with all of these newer sets? Currently, I have the audio outputs connected to a high end vintage audio system which we only use some of the time. We also have the regular audio from the TV available. Is that still possible?
@@TechSteve i have a similar device but what could Cause it to Squeal swaping from youtube to cable tv. sometime also transfers no signal to the amplifier.
I just realized that my old system just uses RCA connectors/cables to connect audio componets---speakers are just speaker wire---but, you got my brain working...........thanks
You can also use an ARC extractor, which works exactly the same, however uses one of the TV's HDMI ports as an output, and connects it via the converter turning it into L/R wires for your audio system, but with the advantage of allowing the TV's remote to adjust the volume
5 minutes ago I was thinking of how to plug in my Bose Companion 2 speakers to my LG tv with optical digital out only... this was the first video I clicked. Thank you!
This guy really deserve a million followers! He bring thins right to the point, I basically watch the full video just because everything he says helps and make sense
This channel will never reach a million followers. Stats from u tube from when this channel started shows minimal growth....at best. Has nothing to do with the content itself as it is quite good but the competition and saturation in the tech channels is out of control. U tube analytics team member.....
Thanks for making this video.I had already purchased a converter & was able to connect it to my smart TV in 5 minutes with your help. I have an old amplifier connected to boxes that have a excellent sound & did not want to have to purchase a soundbar. €23.18 for a converter or €300 upwards for a soundbar with the kind of quality I prefer especially for music is financially fantastic and more environmentally friendly. So thank you Steve🙏🏾
Earlier I watched your review of a new Samsung TV I grabbed at Costco (really had no idea what I bought) and after I got it hooked up to my PC I realized no sound and my old Dell does not have a digital input. Did another search and bam... there you are again with the perfect answer and links to go get it with all the specs making my life super easy. You are awesome Tech Steve. Thank you.
Note: On some TVs - such as my LG - you need to make sure your digital out is set to PCM. Some TVs - such as my LG - have both a PCM and Dolby Digital option. Most DA converters don't work with Dolby Digital, but work only with PCM.
I’ve looked at three different technical concerns today and each time one of your videos came up and each has been a godsend, thanks for sharing, Steve!
Thank you a lot!!! Last night I check every single cable (out lf few thousands I have in my work room) to convert this tv output to my mixer and found - your video! 🙏🙏🙏 Now I am going to clean mixer and call audio shop (erm... today is lock up here... damn)...
I love using studio monitors for home theater and gaming. As for the home theater, the wife can’t stand getting up to adjust the volume 😛. So I’m going to use this to allow us to adjust the volume on the couch. I was going to use the “Dayton Audio WBA51 Multi-Room Wi-Fi Streamer with AirPlay and Spotify Connect” but it’s $80. So I’m hoping this $23-ish device will work.
Very well explained. 👍 However, I wish all devices still could have analog outputs because an adapter which needs a power supply of it's own is a bit awkward. Of course the benefit of optical output is that it is not galvanic connection so it for example helps preventing ground loops between audio devices.
Thank you Tech Steve! Perfect solution. You are the BEST! Thank you for your advice, DAC worked perfectly. Please keep doing what you do, we all appreciate your experience. Continued success to you Tech Steve.
Oh mah goodness! My Sony Bravia just died, but my Bose 3-2-1 still works, (Bose told me no option for my tv) and the sound on my new tv is absolutely terrible. Just ordered the converter, can’t wait to see if I can make it work! Tech Steve is amazing! This is the kind of guy everyone needs in their life, lol, thanks!
Thank you for posting this video. We just bought an LG TV and couldn't set up our 2005 Bose Cinemate speakers because of the cable connections. This optical converter box worked perfectly. Thanks!
Only a few years ago I remember a neighbour throwing away a surround sound amp because it didn't have an optical input! I wish I knew then what I know now mate!!
Huge thumbs up Steve as this solves my optical cable coming from my sound bar that i had hooked up to the PS4,as you probably know the PS5 doesn't have a optical input but using this device should solve my problem yes? Much love and respect to you and yours Steve, from a brotha in the UK. 🙏🏾👊🏾💪🏾👍🏾✊🏾🙏🏾
Looks OK and I like that most connections are on the back side. I would use it on my PC/Monitor. I don't like the digital (push button) volume. I don't need or want another remote just a knob that I can quickly adjust.
It blows my mind that they put RF antenna input, but no 3.5mm headphone out? So no wired headphones or regular speakers. Unbelievable! Thanks for the video, this was exactly my problem. I have an 1ch USB mic amp/audio interface.which will try to connect to the USB in the back and see if it can do the job. Edit: usb didn’t work
Great video, I bought the analog converter without the remote without knowing and I have to get up all the time to adjust the volume. Going to reorder this one with the volume remote.
Perfect explanation!! easy enough setup. Now the issue I have is once I have it hooked to my receiver I seem to only get sound through my left speakers?? I need to know where I went wrong lol any suggestions greatly appreciated.
If you are serious about getting a good sound, I recommend paying a bit more money for a quality DAC. These things can cost thousands for high-end stuff, but anything over $200 should be fine for most people.
Here's the deal. My new Directv "Gemini" converter doesn't have a RCA digital out, but a optical out that is not compatible with my converter. My TV has no audio out, which is why I was taking the audio from the box. Hope this video will be able to help... To be continued.
OK. Still have the same issue. My TV doesn't have a optical output. I need to pull the audio from the Directv box. But I'll try the model suggested here in the hope that my older, cheap analog converter can't handle the output from the box. Good video otherwise!
Thank you for the info. Do you have info on how to connect an audio converter with ARC that can control volume. I don’t want to have to purchase a sound bar
Going back + 20 yrs ago the stereo should have and orange coded digital coax. Use a Toslink fiber on one end coax on the other that way you won't have to purchase a cheap converter or you creating 4 fail points vs 2..if that stereo is some HiFi equipment Always and Always do your own due diligence
Hi Steve! I'm actually having problems with the setup of the device to convert digital to analog. When I connect the 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm port of my JBL Xtreme portable speaker this one makes a continuous noise and I don't get sound from the TV. Now, there's another element: I happen to have a set top cable box hooked up to the TV, where should I connect the optical cable? From the output port of the TV or the one at the set top cable box in order to get sound? Mightily confused 😕
Yes saw your video liked it but I have a problem I'm trying to huck up,Twin Tower Lansing speaker,to my Samsung 2008 home theater system what all do you think I need??
Just so you know, you won't need this if you have RCA input/output on both of your devices. Check your display and speaker system before you decide to buy this. Great video, though. Thanks.
I have a sound system that's connected to the convertor. I can get music out of RU-vid. But when I run an app like Disney plus, Hulu, and Netflix i get no sound. Please help
I'm sure someone might come across the same issue that I did (which may be obvious to others) I have a samsung tv but audio still wasnt coming out my speakers, for this I had to go on settings > sound > advanced > then change it it from Dolby to the other option
Plan B. If I purchese a sound bar connecting it to the TV via optical can I connect the analog speakers that are wired throughout the house to the sound bar?
Good video, well explained. I have one issue. I have the optical output on a smart tv but want to connect to 2 analogue speakers for stereo sound. The DAC only has one set of RCA outputs and I need two sets - one set for each of the speakers. What can I do, if anything? Thanks
Do you bypass an amp because you are using active speakers ? If I have HDMI Arc, do I still use the optical cable ? My set up is for a PS3 or a 4K Blueray
Is this still the best one to get? I got the new tivo edge and it only had optical and my old sterrio receiver only has acr. Just wanted to make sure this is the best one.
Tech Steve, I have a Bose Cinemate Surround sound with two small speakers and a subwoofer I bought 14 years ago. My speakers do not have any analog outputs. My two small speakers go to the subwoofer and the subwoofer has a power source. The analog outputs are on the remote box.
Speaker like this doesn’t have audio outputs the remote box should have inputs unless it has an output for headphones. As long as they are self powered it should work no problem
If you dont have optical out then use USB . I connected my Modi 3+ to my tv usb and its bypassing the audio to dac and to amplifier After connecting my DAC to TV , I cut the volume of amplifier and increased the volume on TV . Nothing and so I could come to conclusion that its bypassing . Sound quality is better than optical
Great work man. My dac doesnt have a power cable. When i connected the dac by usb with the pc it worked. But when connected by fiber cable with the tv it didnt show power on. Maybe i have to give power with the usb cable?
Hi, I'm in the opposite situation. My TV doesn't have optical and I've just bought a home cinema the requires to work to be connected with and optical plug. What should I do ? Can it work at all ? TV is a Linsar 60led900f Home cinema is JBL cinema SB170 Sorry I'm french my English isn't great.
Hi my TV have a red yellow and white RCA but I want to convert it to a HDMI could you please show me a video how I can convert my old RCA TV to a HDMI thank you
What I'm trying to do is I have a fake fireplace entertainment center with 2 speakers...in the back, only Red/White RCA jacks. My TV has Multiple RCA, Optical, 4 HDMI and Cable. So how can I get sound to the entertainment center speakers. It worked when I have a cable box, but now I have Roku and if I remember correctly, the cable box had multiple input/output RCA, so I think how I made it work was RCA to the cable box. RCA from the cable box to the Entertainment center RCA. Will your system work with my TV? Help! lol
