So I wanted to convert my now 12v car to run the original 6v semaphores.
If it’s specifically the semaphores then I tested and determined that a 1ohm, 50w, wire-wound aluminium resistor is great for the task. The semaphore pops up at a good sensible speed, and the bulb has enough power to operate clear and bright.
I suggest you mount these resistors to a plate of aluminium or steel, this helps to keep them cool and dissipate the heat. Whilst semaphores are only usually on for a small amount of time , they should still be mounted to assist with heat dissipation .
The 4ohm version from BBT is way to strong and potentially suited for the wiper motor.
Link to buy , as of Jan 2023 is (1ohm!):

The flashing bulbs are made in 6v and 12v, found on eBay. If your semaphores are 6v (like mine), you need the 6v bulbs!
