there is some long term issues to convert a gasoline engine to run on dry gas as propane, one is that the metallurgy of the valve seats is not optimized for running on dry gas, another is that the compression ratio of the engine is not high enough to use the energy potential of the propane gas, another issue is the camshaft that is too open so if the mixture is not perfectly stochiometric, the exhaust smells garbage. on the advantage side, the combustion is much cleaner so the oil changes can be extended and the engine lasts finally, this is a must for an engine that is operated inside a building.
I worked for the council in the 70s and we were pioneering running council vans on propane nothing fancy in the 70s jus a solenoid cut off at the gas bottle , bottle mounted sideways .pipe straight to the carburettor , run them like that for years
I have a Harbor Freight Predator 3500 Watt Inverter Generator, very similar to the Honda inverter generator. Do you have or know of a kit to convert it to dual fuel, gasoline and natural gas or propane?
I found your video because I'm interested in figuring out how to do the regulator setup. I'm in the process of putting a 28 horse Subaru engine that came out of a generator already set up for propane, in a golf cart. My one problem I have is I can get it to idle but I can't get the accelerator to work it just dies out.
How does the throttle work on this because if you open and close the throttle your only changing the amount of air you not controlling the amount of propane going in ?
You need to hook up some sort of system where it you have a throttle on it that pushes more liquid propane i inside of the cylinder to rotate the Pistons
Hi thrre i think that if you can take few close up view as you do you install will make some better understanding to your viewers, also more closer and lighting condition can help maybe a camera on an overhed location.
I found your video because I’m interested in converting a gasoline outboard engine to Propane mainly because of all the associated problems with ethanol fuel on boats that doesn’t last very long is the fuel block a universal application ?
I want to convert my Lincoln ranger 8 welder to propane. I purchased a forllift fuel tank . I need to know what else I need. it has a onan 2cyl 16 horse. looking for cheapest price on conversion. ethanol ain't working for me.....
You need high compression and if you don't have a "Drip oiler" in the intake manifold, you'll wear out the seats, valves, guides, etc. [you no longer have soft carbon to lube these items]
i have a generator with an old tecumpseh HM80 8horse engine, do you guys manufacture a kit to turn that into a dual fuel? i'm considering doing the electronic ignition upgrade from points, and switch to an electric start since there is a threaded boss on the block and a via in the back of the fan housing for a starter motor, nice video also
Just like many more of these clips, NO answers, NO part numbers, NO help!! I really DON'T understand someone going to such trouble BUT not being able to assist more. What IF I wanted to buy a complete kit or parts??
Well based solely on the orientation of the tank it looks like it's gas if it was liquid it would be upside down like I orientate a tank to fill my small propane canisters.
@@philiphaverly4314 Cylinders can be internally configured to give liquid or gas to the mixer. An engine of this size would not require a lot of fuel so I would expect the cylinder to be the same as a barbeque cyl. But - the narrator said the mixer is the same as used on a forklift which means the mixer would have a liquid inlet and a gas outlet. This would be a problem without a means to prevent freezing. The camerawork didn't give me an opportunity to assess the installation. I give up; not sure what is being done with the LPG.
Terrible camera work...all the zooming in and out is ridiculous. Great demonstration by the presenter...too bad we were zoomed out for the needed closeups and in for great shots of his back.
